This Spanish celebration for the Holy Week dates to the 16th century, and blends social gathering with deep religious devotion. Solemn Catholic processions wind through narrow streets, organized by around 70 of Seville's church brotherhoods, featuring floats adorned with intricate statues of Christ, the Virgin Mary, and scenes from the Passion of Christ known as misterios. In Seville, it was tradition to enjoy these festivities from privileged private balconies owned by local families, offering a splendid vantage point. A local Seville "ambassador" will provide insights into the traditions, history, and significance of Semana Santa. Immerse yourself in this captivating spectacle for about 90 minutes to observe one or two processions.

In an interactive language class led by a native Náhuatl speaker from the community, travelers will learn the basics of this ancient language. The class is designed to not only teach the language but also to provide an immersive understanding of the cultural significance behind the words and expressions used by the Náhuatl people. 

During your tour through the fields, your hosts will also point of wild plants still used today for their medicinal and flavorsome properties. This is part of their domestic conservation of traditional knowledge. In addition, guests will assist the community in removing litter from the fields and roadsides.

In the town, you will be hosted by Guillermina Ríos Palma, a speaker of the San Mateo Almomoloa dialect of Náhuatl. She has stood out for her dedication to preserving her native tongue. She has participated as a lead collaborator in linguistic documentation projectssuch as the Náhuatl Dialectology Project led by the National Institute of Indigenous Languages. She has also been active in compiling vocabulary to safeguard linguistic memory. Guillermina is an authentic and proud Indigenous woman who, along with her family, is always willing to share her lifestyle and the deep connection her community has with nature.

Marco Secchi is an award-winning photographer and Getty Images contributor and is renowned for his expertise in storytelling through photography. His associates, Luca and Sandra, also bring their unique perspectives and skills to the tours, ensuring a diverse and comprehensive learning experience. Just outside Oaxaca city is a community called San Andres Huayapam, that is famed as the birthplace of tejate. This thoughtfully curated experience offers a rare opportunity to connect with this tradition firsthand. You’ll explore the area where it was founded, peruse local murals, plus meet a traditional tejatera who will explain the process, ingredients and the history of this nutritious drink.

This pre-Hispanic libation was used in sowing and harvesting ceremonies and also consumed by Zapotec kings. It’s made from corn, cacao, flor de rosita, toasted mamey pits, and water in a massive clay pot. It’s traditionally served in a painted bowl known as a jícara.

We’ll then enjoy fresh tejate and a snack with this tejatera in her home. Finally, we’ll walk to a restaurant for a set sampler meal of traditional delicacies. This venue is located in the courtyard of another local family home, and sits under a canopy of branches, which are key to producing the blooms in the tejate process.

Where Tejate Was Born

In this hands-on experience, French fashion designer Clémentine opens up her world, sharing deep knowledge of kimono and obi through a relaxed creative workshop.

She’ll take you on a journey through time, explaining the evolution of these garments and how advances in textile manufacturing shaped their design. You'll explore different types of kimono, learn about their occasions and etiquette, and see up-close the textiles — brocade, silk, hand-dyed patterns — that make each piece distinct.

Then comes the transformation: choosing from Clémentine’s collection of vintage obi, you’ll design your own modern accessory — a pouch that breathes new life into traditional materials, letting you carry a piece of Japan with you.

While kimono remain an important part of Japanese tradition, many are worn only once — at weddings or formal events — then stored away and forgotten. Clémentine’s workshop honors these garments and the artisans behind them by giving the fabric new purpose.

Her shop is rooted in upcycling, but it’s more than sustainability: it’s about artful transformation. She selects obi with patterns too bold or ornate for modern daily wear, and turns them into striking, functional accessories. In doing so, she reconnects this heritage craft with everyday life.

A trained designer with a deep reverence for Japanese textiles, Clémentine approaches each piece with care. Argentina

This portrait photography session makes you the main character on the stage of Buenos Aires. Curated by a professional travel photographer whose work has been published all over the world, you will leave the activity with impeccable images commemorating your time in the Argentine capital. Bernardo is a charming host who also peppers this experience with anecdotes about the locations covered, his career as a photographer, and Porteño life. 

Bernardo typically runs this experience in the La Boca neighborhood, where you will pose to an aesthetic backdrop of colorful tenement buildings and street art around Caminito. However, the location may be changed to another barrio such as Puerto Madero, Plaza de Mayo, or Palermo Soho. Bernardo uses a full frame mirrorless camera and pro lenses in order to achieve the maximum image quality. He also uses a professional flash lighting system with diffusers when the natural light isn’t sufficient.

This private photoshoot experience is hosted by a professional travel portrait photographer from Buenos Aires. Bernardo delights just as much in showing travelers around his home city as he does helping them to capture photographic mementos from their time in the Argentine capital. As such, his photoshoot is thoughtful and unhurried, allowing plenty of time to experiment with poses, lighting, and accessorizing (if desired).

La Boca, one of the prettiest and most beguiling neighborhoods, is the stage of the photoshoot. Bernardo will be guided by the natural light, using external flashes and modifiers when needed to create a soft atmosphere for photography. He works around your preferences—suggesting spots to take the photos but also being open to any suggestions. There will be time to capture individual and group photos as well as to change clothing or add accessories. She needed an internship for her thesis and chose Barcelona without expecting how quickly she’d feel at home.“Barcelona, 22 years ago, was a different place,” she says. “It was less cosmopolitan, more local. I remember wandering through narrow streets and finding tiny bars with real flamenco. It felt genuinely lived in.”
 “Tourism has definitely changed things,” she admits. “Places like La Rambla are overcrowded. Many locals have been pushed out by the rise in tourist rentals. But Catalans are proud of their traditions. They’ve started resisting these changes to preserve the city’s character.” That character is what Manila has grown to love. “I chose Barcelona because I felt an immediate connection. The Mediterranean lifestyle, the weather, the proximity to mountains and sea — it feels like home but also stretches me outside my comfort zone.” She relishes the contrast to her native Sicily. “I can take a train and be skiing in the Pyrenees in just over an hour. Where else do you get that?”
What keeps her in Barcelona is the balance of tradition and openness. “The cuisine, the olive groves, the vineyards — they remind me of southern Italy, but they’re uniquely Catalan.” And the city’s connectivity has made it easy to stay rooted while maintaining close ties to Italy. She speaks with admiration about the people: “Catalans are proud, resilient, and united. They have a strong sense of identity and community. Whether through demonstrations or cultural festivals, they come together. They’re efficient and organized, but also keep that relaxed Mediterranean vibe. It’s a unique combination.”

Valencia, Spain, is home to Albufera Natural Park, a stunning wetland reserve just 10 km (6 miles) south of the city. This vast freshwater lagoon, surrounded by rice fields and wildlife-rich marshlands, is the birthplace of paella and a haven for birdwatchers, nature lovers, and photographers.
