On April 5, 2026, join an emotional journey into the Easter traditions of Bosa, one of Italy's most picturesque little towns. Its typical colorful houses give it an extraordinary charm while its ancient architecture offers fascinating views at every turn. On Easter, you'll immerse into a deeply evocative experience that blends sacred and profane in an atmosphere of intense spirituality.

Led by a local expert and seasoned photographer, you will discover how the community of Bosa experiences Easter as part of a collective ritual that welcomes anyone who joins.The images you will take won’t be simple photographs but records of a strong sense of community and the bond between the locals and their traditions.
The ceremonies of Holy Week date back to the Middle Ages and are linked to the Spanish liturgy, as Spaniards dominated the island for a long time.

Joining the procession, you will observe symbols of faith and the emotional participation of the inhabitants. 

Bosa’s Easter celebration reaches its emotional peak with S’Incontru (The Encounter), a procession that takes place at dawn on Easter Sunday. Two separate processions begin their solemn journey—one carrying the statue of the Risen Christ, the other bearing the Virgin Mary dressed in black. As they wind through the town's narrow, historic streets, led by locals in traditional Sardinian attire, the atmosphere builds with anticipation. The trek to Toubkal Summit is a two-day challenging climb through Morocco's High Atlas Mountains, starting from the village of Imlil. This journey is renowned for its physical demands and for the cultural immersion and stunning natural beauty. 

You will ascend the trail through diverse landscapes, including lush valleys and rocky terrains, culminating at Toubkal Refuge for an overnight stay. 

The final push to the summit offers breathtaking panoramic views stretching from the Marrakech plains to the vast expanse of the Sahara. The climb, while strenuous due to the rapid altitude gain, is achievable for those with good fitness and provides an exhilarating sense of accomplishment. 

The trek includes an overnight stay at the Toubkal Refuge area, where you’ll be accommodated in a private/double room with ensuite bath. This upgrade from the standard dormitory offers more comfort and quiet ahead of summit day. 

The excursion begins in Imlil, about 1.5 hours by car from Marrakesh. If you’re staying in Marrakesh, Ourika, or similar, please arrange round-trip transportation with your hotel.

What sets this trek apart is its combination of accessibility and high adventure. Located just a short drive from Marrakech, Toubkal is one of the most accessible high-mountain experiences in North Africa. 

The route passes through several Berber villages, offering a glimpse into the traditional lifestyles and cultural practices of the indigenous communities. Unique flora and wildlife, including aromatic mountain herbs and possibly sightings of Barbary macaques, enrich the journey.

Moreover, the trek to Toubkal is a profound cultural immersion. The path you'll follow has been trodden by local shepherds and Berber nomads for centuries, adding historical and cultural depth to your hiking experience. This is an experience that will forever remain in your heart.

After reaching the peak of Toubkal, take time to enjoy a light snack and capture photos of the panoramic views. The journey back retraces the steps to Toubkal Refuge for a rewarding lunch, followed by a descent to Sidi Chamarouch, and concludes in Imlil.

This segment of the trek allows for an extended period at the summit, where you can appreciate the vastness of the surrounding landscape from North Africa's highest point—a rare moment of tranquility above the clouds. The descent is notable for its scenic yet less demanding nature, offering continuous views as you transition from the stark mountain peaks to the lush valley floors, reflecting the diverse ecology of the Atlas Mountains.

Return to Imlil

After an early breakfast, we’ll set off for the summit of Toubkal, nearly 1000m above us. Technically this is not a difficult ascent, but it is demanding with sections of scrambling and loose scree – depending on fitness a climb of 3 or 4 hours. The views from the top are worth it though looking out into the plain of Marrakech and the Sahara.

Day 2 of the summit experience is demanding, with 8-9 hours of trekking in total across the full day.

The summit of Toubkal offers extensive views over the Atlas Mountains and the desert, a reward well worth the climb’s challenge.


Toubkal Refuge to Summit

The trek starts in Imlil, traversing lush landscapes to reach the pilgrimage site of Sidi Chamarouch. Here we will have a picnic lunch, before continuing up the mule trail to the Toubkal refuge.

While Sidi Chamarouch’s shrine remains a spiritual site closed to non-Muslims, its market and cafes welcome all, providing a blend of spiritual and local commerce.

Imlil to Sidi Chamarouch

The path from Sidi Chamarouch to the Toubkal Refuge is a steep climb, taking you through increasingly barren yet striking mountain scenery. 

After a full day of ascent, you’ll reach the Toubkal Refuge—your base at 3,200 meters before summit day. Here, you’ll settle into a private/double room, and enjoy a proper dinner to refuel and acclimatize for the climb ahead.

Most trekkers sleep in dorm-style bunk rooms with shared bathrooms at the Toubkal Refuge, often alongside 10–20 others—conditions that don’t support privacy, comfort, or restful sleep. In contrast, this experience includes a private / double room shared only within your group, based on your preference, each with an ensuite bathroom. It’s a quieter, more restorative way to spend the night at altitude. Keep in mind, however, that these are simple and modest rooms. In rare situations when all private rooms are booked out, Ahmed will arrange private/double tents for your party -- these are comfortable, safe and provide a peaceful night's sleep (in this case, the bathrooms at the refuge will be used.)

Meals are freshly prepared and more generous than the standard dorm fare, with a focus on nourishment and recovery. 

This high-altitude pause isn’t just practical—it allows your body to adjust, improves your summit chances, and offers rare stillness under the stars of the High Atlas.

A road trip itinerary through Andalusia, from flamenco heartlands to Moorish palaces and sea views.

My sister and I flew into Las Vegas to then see the Grand Canyon. We woke early to get picked up at our hotel and the tour took us to the Hoover Dam, a stop on Route 66 (where the Cars movie took place), and finally the Grand Canyon. We did an easy hike but it took about 4 hours. We stopped multiple times for pictures. It was amazing. The pictures don’t do it justice. 

My sister and I wish we had spent more time there and maybe hiking a different trail.

Grand Canyon Excursion

Chile’s El Tatio Geysers form the largest geyser field in the Southern Hemisphere and the third-largest in the world, located at an altitude of 4,320 meters (14,170 feet) in the Atacama Desert. Best visited at dawn, this geothermal wonder offers a breathtaking display of boiling water eruptions, steaming fumaroles, and mineral-rich hot springs, set against the backdrop of the towering Andes Mountains. 4. Wildlife spotting, including vicuñas, Andean foxes, and Andean gulls, which thrive in this extreme high-altitude environment.

5. Thermal bathing experience, where visitors can dip into a designated geothermal pool, enjoying the natural warmth amidst the cold morning air.

Visitor Tip: Tours leave before dawn (4:00–5:00 AM) from San Pedro de Atacama—dress in warm layers, as temperatures can drop to -10°C (14°F) before sunrise. Drink plenty of water and avoid excessive activity upon arrival to prevent altitude sickness.

El Tatio Geysers

Tharros, located on the Sinis Peninsula in western Sardinia, is an ancient archaeological site that offers a fascinating glimpse into the island’s rich history. Founded by the Phoenicians in the 8th century BCE and later inhabited by Carthaginians and Romans, Tharros is a stunning open-air museum surrounded by the turquoise waters of the Mediterranean. With its well-preserved ruins, scenic coastal setting, and proximity to pristine beaches, Tharros is a must-visit destination for history enthusiasts and nature lovers alike. 
1. The archaeological ruins include remnants of Roman baths, streets, temples, and houses, offering insight into life in this once-thriving ancient city. 
2. The two standing columns, overlooking the sea, are among the most iconic features of the site, creating a striking contrast against the blue waters. 
3. The site is surrounded by the natural beauty of the Sinis Peninsula, with its rolling hills, Mediterranean flora, and pristine coastline. 
4. Nearby, the San Giovanni di Sinis Church, one of Sardinia’s oldest Christian churches, adds an extra layer of historical and cultural interest to the visit. 
5. Tharros offers breathtaking views of the Gulf of Oristano, making it a perfect spot for photography and quiet reflection. 
Visitor Tip: Plan to spend 1.5 to 2.5 hours exploring Tharros and its surroundings. Wear sturdy shoes, bring sunscreen, and visit in the morning or late afternoon to avoid the midday heat. Combine your trip with a swim at nearby beaches like Is Arutas or San Giovanni di Sinis.

Tharros Sinis Peninsula

A visit to Olhão, a charming coastal town in Portugal’s Algarve, reveals a world of rich heritage, bustling markets, and captivating Moorish-style architecture. Known for its vibrant fishing culture and historic old town, Olhão offers an authentic glimpse into the region’s past and present.

1. Olhão’s famous municipal market, located right along the waterfront, is one of the most lively in the Algarve. Housed in two striking red-brick buildings, this market is a feast for the senses, with fresh seafood, locally grown produce, and traditional cheeses and sausages on offer. Visiting in the morning lets you experience the market at its busiest, when local fishermen deliver the catch of the day.

2. The old town’s narrow, winding streets are a delight to explore, showcasing Olhão’s unique blend of Portuguese and Moorish influences. This part of the city is filled with whitewashed buildings, intricate tilework, and flat-roofed houses that evoke a North African aesthetic, reflecting the town’s deep historical connections with Moorish culture.

3. Walking through the old town, you’ll encounter the “azulejo” tile-covered facades that decorate many buildings. These colorful, hand-painted tiles depict everything from floral designs to intricate geometric patterns, adding a layer of artistry to the already charming streetscape.

4. The waterfront area offers stunning views of the Ria Formosa Natural Park, a protected area known for its unique lagoons, sandbanks, and rich birdlife.

5. The Igreja Matriz de Olhão, a Baroque-style church, is an architectural gem in the heart of town. Dating back to the 17th century, it features a beautifully ornate interior, and visitors can climb to the rooftop for panoramic views of the town and coast.

To experience Olhão at its most vibrant, plan to visit on a Saturday morning, when the outdoor market spills onto the waterfront.

Iceland

This being a ‘chill trip’, we did not want to hike 10 hours on a glacier. Instead we trek on the Vatnajokull glacier looking for ice caves with wind on our face and ice under our feet.

Earlier, we woke up at 7 and drive in cold and windy January to Skaftafell National Park to meet Einar, our guide. 

This cave... like others ... started forming In August but you are never sure it will be stable to explore till later. In September, the loose ceiling collapsed  and this brilliant cave was formed.

These fragile and transitory structure require constant maintenance from falling rock and melting icicles. Einer enters the cave and spots a few boulders on the roof. He removes them to prevent harm to the cave and us. 

As we move around, the cave looks different as our viewing angle and the sunlight outside changes.

We are in complete awe ... and hungry. Luckily a steaming meal of lamb and potatoes is close by.

Ice Caving

Barcelona, Spain, is home to the Museu Nacional d’Art de Catalunya (MNAC), a spectacular museum showcasing one of the most comprehensive collections of Catalan art in the world. Visitor Tip: Visit in the late afternoon to enjoy the museum’s exhibits, then head outside to watch the Magic Fountain show at sunset, located just below the museum. Free entry is available on Saturdays after 3 PM and the first Sunday of the month.

Museu Nacional de Catalunya

The Guadalquivir River Walk in Seville offers a peaceful yet vibrant way to experience the city’s charm while enjoying scenic views along one of Spain’s most historic rivers. Stretching along the banks of the Guadalquivir, this popular promenade links some of Seville’s most famous attractions, offering a blend of history, culture, and leisure activities. The river itself played a key role in Seville’s development, once serving as the main conduit for trade with the New World. Today, the walk is a favorite for both locals and tourists looking for relaxation and a touch of Seville’s past.

Highlights of the Guadalquivir River Walk:

1. Torre del Oro: Begin your walk near this iconic 13th-century tower. Its golden glow and rich history make it a perfect starting point. From here, enjoy views of the river and the surrounding monuments.

2. Triana Bridge and Market: Cross the picturesque Puente de Triana to visit the traditional Triana neighborhood, known for its flamenco roots and lively market. The market is a great spot for fresh produce, local crafts, and authentic tapas.

3. Parque de María Luisa: Along the river, you'll find this lush park, perfect for a rest amidst palm trees, fountains, and beautiful gardens. Nearby is the iconic Plaza de España, another must-see.

4. River Cruises and Water Activities: If walking isn’t enough, hop on a riverboat cruise for a different perspective of the city. Alternatively, rent a kayak or paddleboard for a more active experience on the water.

Tip: Visit during sunset for a magical atmosphere, as the golden light reflects off the water, providing perfect photo opportunities.

Guadalquivir River Walk

Granada, Spain, is home to the Monasterio de la Cartuja, a hidden gem of Baroque architecture and spiritual grandeur. Founded in the 16th century as a Carthusian monastery, this site is one of the most ornate religious buildings in Spain, known for its breathtaking stucco work, intricate frescoes, and dazzling gold-adorned altars. Despite its modest exterior, the monastery’s lavishly decorated interiors leave visitors in awe, making it an essential stop for lovers of art and history.

Monasterio de la Cartuja

Tarragona, Spain, is a coastal city in Catalonia known for its impressive Roman ruins, golden beaches, and vibrant Mediterranean charm. Once the capital of the Roman province of Hispania Tarraconensis, the city’s rich history blends seamlessly with modern life. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, Tarragona offers ancient amphitheaters, medieval alleyways, and lively plazas, making it a must-visit destination for history lovers and photographers.


1. Tarragona Amphitheatre: Overlooking the Mediterranean Sea, this 2nd-century Roman amphitheater once hosted gladiatorial games and now serves as an iconic symbol of the city’s Roman heritage.

2. Roman Circus: Explore the remains of the Roman chariot-racing stadium, where underground tunnels and towers offer fascinating insights into ancient entertainment.
