This private walking tour begins with a panoramic car tour of the city, followed by visits to monuments that bring Toledo’s layered history to life. Take the 9:15am train from Madrid Atocha to Toledo station, where Adolfo will meet you. It takes 35 minutes and costs €14. You can pre-buy the train tickets from Renfe.com, or give yourself plenty of time to buy a ticket at Atocha.

If coming by car, Adolfo will waiting for you at Bisagra Gate at the starting time. By car it takes around one hour to get to Toledo from Madrid.

Nestled in the heart of Santorini’s charming Megalochori village, this immersive experience takes place in a restored 1950s cave house—dug into volcanic rock and full of character. Hosts Paula and George welcome you into their “stone kitchen” to roll up your sleeves and take part in a hands-on preparation of a classic Greek feast, side by side with your hosts.

Guided by Paula and George, you’ll chop, roll, stir, and season while learning the stories behind time-honored recipes, from tzatziki to tomato fritters to melt-in-your-mouth main dishes. The menu changes with the seasons, and so does the energy—it’s part cooking lesson, part gathering.

As the aromas of your creations fill the air, the session culminates in a communal meal enjoyed under a pergola. You'll meet Kalliopi at Kerameikos Metro Station, Exit Gazi

Kalliopi and Thomas are a dynamic duo passionate about Athens, art, and urban exploration. Raised in opposite suburbs, fate brought them together, and now they call the historic district of Kerameikos home. Their journey into street art and creative expression started years ago and has flourished, especially since moving to downtown Athens.

They actively promote and support local artists, organize street art festivals, and have curated urban transformations by selecting artists and murals for key city spaces. Recently, they opened a creative hub to host events dedicated to art, fostering a vibrant community of creators.

Morocco

This is an exhilarating and demanding ascent to the Toubkal Refuge, starting from the village of Imlil. This demanding trek spans a total climb of 2500 meters (8,202 feet) to 3207 meters (10,522 feet) at the refuge, suitable for those with good fitness levels but does not require technical climbing skills. 

The trek passes the spiritual landmark of Sidi Chamarouch, a Muslim pilgrimage spot located in a very scenic place, before the steep climb to the refuge, set just below the summit of Mount Toubkal. Here, trekkers can enjoy a well-earned picnic lunch while taking in panoramic views of the surrounding High Atlas Mountains. 

This trek offers a challenging yet rewarding experience, providing both a sense of accomplishment and spectacular scenic beauty. This full-day trek typically taking about 8 hours. However, the pace depends on your comfort, and Ahmed's team will ensure the group moves at a speed that suits you.

This trek to Toubkal Refuge offers you an up-close experience with some of the highest points in the High Atlas that are accessible without technical climbing. You’ll ascend into one of North Africa's most dramatic landscapes passing through natural and spiritual landmarks.

This immersive, sensorial experience spans two half-days, honoring the ancestral craft of sourdough bread-making. Inspired by the ancient Greek myths of goddess Demeter and her daughter Persephone, it combines bread-making, storytelling and mindful rituals that honor the sacred grain of wheat.

On the first half-day, you’ll learn about the ancestral art of sourdough breadmaking, delving into the significance of wheat in ancient Greece and its connection to Demeter. Through a mindful practice, you’ll prepare the dough, engaging with the wheat, your senses and the land of Athens. The bread is left to ferment overnight.

On the second half-day, you’ll bake the bread and share it in a ritual of togetherness. Paired with curated seasonal local foods, this mindful eating ritual fosters community and gratitude. This immersive workshop, held in a private studio in the Fatih District, provides a rare opportunity to learn these traditional techniques under the guidance of a miniature art master.

Led by Şeyma Çınar, a certified expert in miniature and illumination arts, you will learn the essential techniques of Ottoman miniature painting, including fine detailing, color layering, and the traditional stylization of figures and landscapes. The host, Şeyma Çınar, is a master artist specializing in miniature art, Tezhip (Islamic illumination), and floral designs since 1998. With formal certification from Turkey’s Ministry of Culture and Tourism, she has dedicated over 25 years to studying and teaching the intricate techniques of Ottoman miniature painting. Having participated in multiple exhibitions and published work on Islamic art, she brings both technical expertise and cultural depth to the workshop, ensuring participants leave with a rich understanding of this ancient craft. She will be accompanied by a translator, allowing everyone to fully engage with her insights and expertise.

You’ll begin with a private tour through its original production site and museum—home to ancient kilns, hand-thrown molds, and decorative pieces that reflect the fusion of Islamic and European styles. As you explore, you’ll learn how Granada’s ceramic language evolved across centuries, adapting to dynasties and shifting cultural forces while staying rooted in the local soil.

Then comes your own initiation into the craft. Guided by master artisans, you’ll sit at the potter’s wheel for a “baptism of clay,” shaping a vessel from scratch. You’ll be welcomed by Chemi Márquez Morales or one of his talented colleagues from Fundación Fajalauza. The Morales family has led Fajalauza since its founding in 1517, shaping Granada’s ceramic identity for over five centuries. Chemi, a direct descendant, now guides its creative and cultural direction—working to preserve its legacy at a critical turning point in its history.

Fajalauza is a national institution. Its works have appeared in international exhibitions, design circles, and documentaries, recognized as the soul of Granada’s ceramics tradition. The Fundación Fajalauza now works to safeguard the historic site, protect traditional methods, and share the knowledge held by the last generation of master artisans.

Chemi and his team are warm, fluent, and deeply knowledgeable—generous stewards of both heritage and hospitality. With them, you gain rare access to the art, stories, and meaning behind one of Spain’s most iconic crafts.

Chile

Try your hand at making a "lucky" clay pig known as a Chanchito in the intimate studio of a local artist near Valparaíso. No prior experience is necessary and this 1.5-hour crafting experience is perfect for children and adults of all ages. 

Chanchitos are three-legged pigs which are typically made in the village of Pomaire in Chile. This art experience uses a special type of clay which is easy to work with and dries quickly, meaning the finished Chanchito is ready to take away on the day. Over the course of the workshop, you will hear the history of the Chanchito and their significance in Chile. 

You'll also enjoy an inspirational view of the Pacific Ocean from Marcela's private terrace while enjoying soft refreshments and local pastries. If you're lucky, you may even get to sample "pancito amasado" bread baked by Marcela's father, a retired lighthouse keeper.

This fun pottery activity is relaxed and accessible to novice sculptors and potters of all ages. The finished Chanchito is small enough to slip into even the smallest bag and may be kept for yourself or gifted to a loved one back home to bring them luck. While you work, Marcela will explain the history behind these three-legged pigs typically made in Pomaire. She will share further insight on the development of Chilean art and crafts from pre-Columbian times to the modern day as well as mythological stories. While in her studio, you can check out what she is currently working on and hear about her artistic achievements.

Marcela's studio is attached to her home above the Higuerillas fishing hamlet in Concon, a short drive from Viña del Mar or Valparaíso. This area is often skipped by international tourists which means you get to experience a truly local community. To conclude your trip to Concon, Marcela will recommend local seafood restaurants in the "Gastronomic Capital of Chile".

Marcela Rodriguez is a contemporary multi-media artist who grew up living in lighthouses with her lighthouse-keeper father along the rugged Southern Chilean coast. The vast Patagonian landscape and turbulent Pacific Ocean greatly influenced her. While in college, she discovered street theatre and performed with two important Santiago theatre troupes.

In 1992, Marcela moved to Minneapolis in the US and obtained a bachelor’s degree in Theatre Arts and an MFA in painting and drawing. In 2001, she moved back to Chile and developed a passion for printmaking, focusing on lithography. Her artwork has been exhibited in galleries throughout Chile, Mexico, Cuba, and the USA.

Marcela has completed two art residencies for printmakers, including a month-long one in Veracruz, Mexico, at La Ceiba Grafica in 2018 and with renowned artists from “Taller 99” in Santiago, 2019. She currently lives and works as a visual artist in Concon, Chile, and teaches at CasaPlan in Valparaíso.

In the late afternoon, join Eric Luong again for Zen & the Art of Tea in Kyoto, an encounter that begins at the Jotenkaku Museum and continues to a machiya townhouse for a private tea ceremony. DAY 3 – SCENT AND FLAVOR | Your final day explores the sensory traditions that define Kyoto’s refinement. Begin with Dashi: Japan’s Hidden Elixir led by Chef Toshihiko Yamamoto, a cooking experience revealing the delicate broth that anchors Japanese cuisine. In his intimate kitchen, you’ll prepare and taste your own dashi, discovering how one essence can hold centuries of culinary philosophy. If you are interested in rare natural phenomena and want to learn more about marine life, you should head to Mexico's Pacific coast. One of the best spectacles is the annual whale migration, where you can catch unique glimpses of humpback whales. 

The largest mammals on earth have earned their reputation as the most beautiful, intelligent, and impressive creatures. If you watch the ocean at migration time (either from the shore or on a boat tour), you'll see baby whales leaping and maybe even hear mother whales calling their families together. The baby-whale season is from January until the end of April.

But the Pacific coast is not only known for whales. It's just as beautiful to watch sea turtles hatch. If you come at the right time, you can witness mother turtles laying hundreds of eggs overnight in the soft sand on the coast, and much later, those hundreds of babies hatch and crawl toward the sea. Come between late August to early October.

Cork Oak Forests

"If I know a song of Africa, of the giraffe and the African new moon lying on her back, does Africa know a song of me?", mused Karen Blixen in Out of Africa. I am too much of a nomad but if I ever owned a farm, as Ms. Blixen did, it would be in the Lamai Wedge - located in the triangular watershed between the Kenya border and the Mara river. Possibly the most beautiful place in East Africa. Besides being a refuge for the Great Migration after crossing the River Mara, it has great game year-round.

Until recently, no camps were allowed here, but now you can stay at the Singita Mara River Tented Camp and a few others. 

And wake up at dawn to catch the sun filtering through the clouds and mist. The Wildebeest seem a little dazed as they contemplate the scenery over the hills of Kenya while eating succulent grasses - and staying out of the way of the cheetah brothers out on a prowl, with whom we tagged along for an unsuccessful hunt. Life is tough.
