In this studio visit you'll meet an architect who is playing with ways to use objects the city leaves behind — cement blocks, plastic crates, shattered tiles, and other things that often slip into invisibility. 

Inspired by his background in environmental design, Javier transforms such fragments into sculptural furniture such as chairs, tables and shelves. Each piece is a constellation of temporalities and forgotten stories, a collection and reconfiguration of objects found throughout CDMX, which Javier sources himself.

Javier will welcome you to his studio and share his process, sharing how walking, gathering, and assembling have become methods to map the city and its leftovers. He'll discuss what his design work says about Mexico City, and also how he's approached this work in other cities such as London, where he's been an artist in residence. 

The experience offers a unique window into how design can be responsive, situated and radically resourceful, as well as being sculptural.

This exclusive experience offers rare access to Javier's studio in central Mexico City, where objects in various stages of development reveal the intuitive and speculative nature of his work. Every piece is singular and made with wild, non-standard measurements and joined using simple, reversible techniques. Javier Guzmán Cervantes is an artist, designer, and builder based in Mexico City. His work explores residual realities in the contemporary metropolis, developing domestic infrastructures, furniture, and structural systems through low-tech and autonomous processes out of debris, residues, and material fragments gathered through urban exploration. In this process, he engages with concepts such as degrowth, living otherwise, and post-development, questioning the role of art, design and construction in relation to sustainability and community.

Through direct contact with the city, Javier's practice transforms discarded objects into local resources, creating not only tactical approaches to construction but also serving as traces of life and local processes within the city: revealing stories.

In 2023, he founded Ex Soup, an art and design experiment based in Mexico City that uses walking, urban wandering, and low-tech methods to collect and reassemble the city’s remains.

Türkiye

This experience is a sensorial journey through Kadıköy that reveals Istanbul’s cultural identity through its drinks. You’ll begin with Turkish coffee brewed with mastica, and learn how, in Turkish tradition, fortunes are read in the coffee grounds.

At the next stop, you’ll taste sherbet, the Ottomans’ favorite refreshment, and ancestor of Italian sorbet. Depending on the season, you might try boza, a fermented winter drink, or salep, a warming blend of orchid root + milk.

Then you’ll visit a traditional tavern for the rakı ritual — how it’s poured, paired and enjoyed slowly with cheese, melon and şalgam (pickled turnip juice) to temper the heat of anise. This is where you’ll hear about Turkey’s fermentation story, from yoğurt and tarhana to ayran.

Your guide will lead you through Kadıköy’s local bar scene. You’ll try a Turkish beer, a bite of late-night street food, and maybe a cold glass of ayran. The night winds down with Turkish tea, served with sweets and conversation.

This experience, designed and led by Lisa, draws on her deep knowledge of Istanbul’s drinking traditions — from fermented grains and sweet sherbets to pickled juices — and her passion for the rituals that surround them. She will take you into historic stores and hidden cafés that have been part of the city’s fabric for generations. After soaking up the nightlife, you'll return to the pier where you can ferry across the Bosphorus on your own.

Most visitors in Istanbul will try Turkish coffee, tea, and wine — but few are introduced to the wide spectrum of traditional beverages that reveal Istanbul’s liquid heritage, and fewer still will have the chance to sample drinks like boza and ayran. These drinks, each with their own rich history, showcase Istanbul’s blend of Ottoman, Byzantine and modern influences.

Japan

This experience is a rare, personal, realistic look into the everyday life of a maiko — a young trainee preparing to become a full-fledged geisha, or geiko as they are known in Kyoto. Maiko train within a highly structured professional system shaped by formal rules, mentorship and etiquette. Rather than watching a performance, you’ll engage in conversation facilitated by an expert guide. The objective? To move past rituals and gain a deeper understanding of the person.

The experience takes place in an elegant bar in central Kyoto. While waiting for the maiko, your host explains how the maiko–geiko world is organized and offers guidance for a meaningful conversation.

When the maiko joins, a cocktail is served as you speak with her about daily routines, training demands, her personal story including the decisions and commitments involved. As the conversation comes to a close, there's time for photographs. After the maiko departs, you stay for a second cocktail and a brief reflection.

Most maiko and geisha encounters center on performance: dance, music, tea ceremony, or formal dinner entertainment. This experience is different in both intent and structure. It is designed as a conversation — an opportunity to understand maiko training as a real, professional path.

Dive into the heart of Croatian cuisine with a 5-hour Peka cooking class, set in a picturesque village near Dubrovnik. This immersive experience takes place at OPG Vukojevich, a family farm renowned for its natural produce and award-winning olive oil. Starting in the morning, you'll learn how to prepare Peka, a delectable meat and vegetable dish cooked under a dome-shaped lid.

Discover the subtleties of this traditional Dalmatian culinary art, usually involving veal, lamb, or beef, paired with potatoes and other vegetables. Peka is one of the best known traditional Croatian dishes, despite looking simple at first, Peka requires a lot of skills and experience. At first glance, a peka seems like such a simple accessory – a domed lid shaped like a dome. Food cooked under peka, be it in a fireproof pot under the coals or directly on a stone slab, is a hearty meat and vegetable dish. Usually veal, lamb, or yearling beef covered with potatoes and other vegetables. Learn how the olives and oils are produced, enjoy tastings and peka lunch.

Experience the elegance of the Nani Bernardo Palace, designed by Architect Vittoria in 1550. Marvel at its harmonious aspect, enriched by a valuable hidden Venetian garden. Should Nani Bernardo be unavailable, the alternative stop is Ca' Rezzonico Palace, another marvel of Venetian architecture - or a similar equally stunning palace, specially selected by Lucia. 

This is a private palace that is accessible only by appointment and with the help of our connection with Lucia. 

Designed by Architect Vittoria, on commission from the Bernardo family, the Palace was built in 1550. 
Around 200 years ago, the current owner's ancestors added a new Italian garden to the palace, demolishing a series of houses on the side closest to the Grand Canal in the process and gave the Palazzo Nani Bernardo an entirely new, and harmonious aspect that is still evident today.

Another element is the really valuable back garden, very nice and extraordinarily extended in length, made during the eighteenth century. In case Nani Bernardo is booked out for a private event, we will replace this stop with Ca. Rezzonico Palace or an equally stunning palace.

This is one of the last remaining boatyards of Venice. Typically hard to access since it's a working facility and tours are not provided without prior notice.
