This full-day journey takes you inland through Andalusia to Ronda and Setenil de las Bodegas, two towns whose form and history have been shaped by the rock they inhabit. Both belong to the region’s pueblos blancos (“white towns”), but each responds to its terrain in a markedly different way.

In Ronda, you explore a city built around the deep cut of the El Tajo gorge. Mexico

Maya heritage doesn’t exist only at Yucatán’s remote archaeological sites. It is also present in Mérida, embedded in places where past and present coexist. This downtown mini-archaeology walking tour, with short taxi rides when needed, offers a way to engage with the city’s heritage through sites often missed by visitors.

The route begins near the former Jesuit university buildings now associated with Universidad Autónoma de Yucatán (UADY), where you visit a colonial-era church built using stones from an earlier Maya structure, with carved blocks still visible in its walls. From there, you travel to Chen Hó, a small but impressive archaeological site located within Mérida’s urban area, and then to Xoclán Eco-Archaeological Park, a green space with visible Maya remains and a markedly quiet atmosphere despite its proximity to surrounding neighborhoods.

This experience traces Lisbon’s riverfront through Belém, where Tejo (Tagus) River once marked the edge of empire. This district was the departure point for voyages during the Age of Discoveries, when ships sailed toward Africa, Brazil and India.

You begin in a traditional bakery to taste pastéis de nata, custard tarts made from a recipe linked to the nearby monastery. From there, you visit Mosteiro dos Jerónimos — a defining example of Manueline architecture. Its cloisters and church were built with wealth from maritime trade and house the tombs of Vasco da Gama and Luís de Camões. The story created for you intertwines the history of the locality, Dubrovnik renascence villas in general, the customs of the Dubrovnik countryside villages throughout history, explanation of olive oil production by the villa olive mill, interesting information about the diversity of plants, their usage & myths, biology and beauty. For families with children throughout the visit the tour is adjusted with interactive and creative content through which kids learn about nature and have fun at the same time.
Afterwards we are having a picnic in a beautiful palm meadow in the shades of the trees. Food served is explicitly ecological from our family farm and the ones nearby. All that is served is fresh homemade traditional food of the region.

This hands-on class invites you to don an apron and unleash your culinary creativity. You’ll learn how to prepare a “proper” empanada that would earn a nod from any Porteño (Buenos Aires local). Explore two of Cusco’s most distinctive markets, moving beyond surface-level browsing into conversation, context and culture. Your day begins at San Pedro Market, the city’s long-established central market — designed in 1925 by Gustave Eiffel’s workshop and still serving as a supply hub for locals. Here, aisles of Andean produce, cheeses, tubers, medicinal herbs, and prepared dishes sit alongside stalls of textiles, silverwork and crafts — a commercial ecosystem where Cusqueños shop, trade and share recipes.

The most exciting thing about not planning my stay was getting lost to find myself in small places rich in gastronomy, flavors that I never experienced before, local markets with the best ambient and desserts that made every minute in this city worthwhile.

The charming, well-preserved streetscapes of the heritage town in Old Lijiang Is perfect for getting lost  The winding streets lure you in - and shops selling Tiquanyin tea, handmade paper, musical drums, souvenirs and food vie for the attention of tourists. 

The Naxi people of Lijiang are proud, artistic and musically talented. It's a matriarchal society, one that I relate well to, and I enjoyed my interactions with the wise women I meet.

In the market square in Lijiang Old Town, groups of Naxi women get together to perform a few dances. There is no clear structure for their activity, and the women seem to be on their own schedule - some leave after a couple of dances, others hang around. Besides their traditional costume, what is common among them is their energy and zest for life.
