Florencia Campos Correa, or Flor, is a Chilean-Spanish textile designer and author based in Santiago. Her business, Ullvuna, is dedicated to portable pin loom weaving kits which are available globally. Much of Flor's inspiration comes from her passion and appreciation for Chilean culture and people. She deeply admires the landscapes and nature as well as the ancient fables she absorbed as a child while traveling every corner of Chile by caravan with her family.

Flor has authored several books packed with vibrant pattern inspiration and projects. Her nature motifs are translated into floral crochet designs published in a British magazine and she has penned a children's story which inspires creativity and entrepreneurship in the youngest of budding designers. 

Morocco

This is an intimate, private storytelling experience set in the heart of Fes’s historic medina. Led by a professional storyteller, this 45–60-minute session brings Morocco’s rich oral tradition to life through epic tales, folktales, and legends passed down through generations.

Set in a culturally significant venue—such as a riad, traditional music salon, or cultural house—you’ll be immersed in the atmosphere of old Fes, surrounded by carved wood, zellige tiles, and centuries of history. The host is a professionally trained storyteller from Fes, with deep knowledge of Moroccan and Fassi culture and history. With years of experience in performing arts, they bring each story to life with passion and authenticity. Accompanied by a musician skilled in traditional Moroccan instruments, your host creates a magical storytelling environment that is both entertaining and enlightening.

This 1.5-hour experience takes place at CasaPlan—a collaborative workspace for artists living in the city of Valparaíso and the wider Fifth Region of Chile. Located in El Plan (the flat part of the city), CasaPlan features a printmaking workshop, two galleries dedicated to contemporary Chilean art, and a cafe. Hosted by one of CasaPlan's resident mixed-media artists, Marcela Rodriguez, you will enjoy a private tour of the printmaking workshop, witness a lithography demonstration, and engage with creatives over their latest projects. 

Traditionally using limestone slabs, lithography is a printing technique that works on the immiscibility of oil and water. Marcela will also accompany you to the two visual art shows—explaining the concept behind each installation. In the instance that one of the artists exhibited is available in the workshop, Marcela will facilitate a cultural exchange with them. The experience includes coffee/tea and a slice of cake in the cafe and a print to take home.

CasaPlan is a cultural hub in Valparaíso that brings together art, food, education, and hospitality in a beautiful historic space. It was founded by the female artist Javiera Moreira and the architect Antonia Jarpa to serve as a printmaking workshop where established artists nurture emerging creatives through courses and residency programs. Being located on the periphery of Valparaíso's typical tourist trail means the venue retains a community vibe and is primarily visited by artists and local residents. 

Although cafe-goers glimpse the artists at work in the open-concept studio, Marcela's experience is the only means of interaction. As one one the few bilingual creatives, Marcela can facilitate conversations with the resident artists and lead a fascinating dialogue about Chile's modern art scene. Marcela will also escort you to the two art shows which often exhibit work by CasaPlan's resident artists. She will provide insightful commentary on the pieces, to be continued over coffee.

Meet Marcela in CasaPlan on Avenida Brasil, in Valparaíso, Chile. Upon arrival, make yourself known to a member of staff at the cafe and they will call Marcela from the workshop.

Marcela Rodriguez is a contemporary multi-media artist who grew up living in lighthouses with her lighthouse-keeper father along the rugged Southern Chilean coast. The vast Patagonian landscape and turbulent Pacific Ocean greatly influenced her. While in college, she discovered street theatre and performed with two important Santiago theatre troupes.

In 1992, Marcela moved to Minneapolis in the US and obtained a bachelor’s degree in Theatre Arts and an MFA in painting and drawing. In 2001, she moved back to Chile and developed a passion for printmaking, focusing on lithography. Her artwork has been exhibited in galleries throughout Chile, Mexico, Cuba, and the USA.

Marcela has completed two art residencies for printmakers, including a month-long one in Veracruz, Mexico, at La Ceiba Grafica in 2018 and with renowned artists from “Taller 99” in Santiago, 2019. She currently lives and works as a visual artist in Concon, Chile, and teaches at CasaPlan in Valparaíso.

Italy

Santa Croce, the Franciscan basilica, houses masterpieces by Cimabue, Giotto, Donatello, Brunelleschi and others, and holds the tombs of Galileo, Michelangelo, and Machiavelli. Its vast spaces and narrative frescoes reflect a humble, human-focused approach to faith.

You begin near the Colosseum, capturing its form from elevated viewpoints where Roman pines and shrubs frame the monument in unexpected ways. Antalya, Turkey, is home to the magnificent Hadrian’s Gate, a 2nd-century Roman triumphal arch that serves as the grand entrance to the city’s historic Kaleiçi (Old Town). Built in 130 AD to honor Emperor Hadrian’s visit, this three-arched marble gateway is one of the best-preserved Roman structures in Turkey. With its intricate carvings, towering Corinthian columns, and ancient road beneath, Hadrian’s Gate is a must-see for history lovers and photographers alike.


1. The ornate marble façade, adorned with intricate floral and geometric carvings, showcases Roman craftsmanship at its finest.

2. The three grand archways, framed by towering Corinthian columns, create a dramatic entry into Antalya’s charming Old Town.

3. The original ancient road beneath the gate, visible through a glass panel, offers a glimpse into the footsteps of travelers from nearly 2,000 years ago.

4. The two flanking towers, built at different periods, provide an interesting contrast between Roman, Seljuk, and Ottoman architectural influences.

5. The location at the entrance of Kaleiçi makes it the perfect starting point for exploring Antalya’s historic streets, filled with Ottoman houses, boutique shops, and quaint cafés.

Visitor Tip: Visit early in the morning or late in the afternoon for fewer crowds and the best lighting for photography. Don’t forget to look up—the decorative ceiling of the arches is one of the gate’s hidden details!

Hadrian’s Gate

This being a ‘chill trip’, we did not want to hike 10 hours on a glacier. Instead we trek on the Vatnajokull glacier looking for ice caves with wind on our face and ice under our feet.

Earlier, we woke up at 7 and drive in cold and windy January to Skaftafell National Park to meet Einar, our guide. 

This cave... like others ... started forming In August but you are never sure it will be stable to explore till later. In September, the loose ceiling collapsed  and this brilliant cave was formed.

These fragile and transitory structure require constant maintenance from falling rock and melting icicles. Einer enters the cave and spots a few boulders on the roof. He removes them to prevent harm to the cave and us. 

As we move around, the cave looks different as our viewing angle and the sunlight outside changes.

We are in complete awe ... and hungry. Luckily a steaming meal of lamb and potatoes is close by.

The Costa Smeralda, or “Emerald Coast,” is Sardinia’s most glamorous and scenic stretch of coastline, renowned for its turquoise waters, pristine beaches, and luxurious resorts. Located in the northeast of the island, this 55-kilometer paradise is a favorite destination for celebrities and travelers seeking a mix of natural beauty and upscale charm. With hidden coves, sparkling seas, and vibrant nightlife, Costa Smeralda is a must-see destination that epitomizes Sardinian elegance. 
1. The beaches are breathtaking, with famous spots like Spiaggia del Principe, Capriccioli, and Liscia Ruja offering white sand and crystal-clear waters perfect for swimming and sunbathing. 
2. The luxurious town of Porto Cervo is the heart of Costa Smeralda, known for its high-end boutiques, fine dining, and glamorous marina filled with superyachts. 
3. The area is rich in hidden coves and bays, offering quieter spots for those seeking tranquility amidst the coastline’s natural splendor. 
4. Water activities, such as snorkeling, diving, and sailing, are popular here, thanks to the pristine waters and vibrant marine life. 
5. The nearby Maddalena Archipelago, a national park of stunning islands, is easily accessible by boat and provides a perfect day trip for nature lovers. 
Visitor Tip: Plan to spend a full day or more exploring Costa Smeralda. While some areas are pricey, you can still enjoy the public beaches and natural beauty without overspending. Visit in spring or early autumn to avoid peak crowds while still enjoying warm weather.
