This experience takes place on Shrove Thursday each February (4 Feb 2027), in Bazas in the Gironde countryside, during the Fête des Bœufs Gras. Held since the 13th century, the festival marks the moment when local Bazadaise cattle, a breed prized for its rich, marbled beef, are brought into the historic center to be celebrated. When asked about his love for Lisbon, Tiago’s enthusiasm is immediate: “I love my city! I really love the historic center of Lisbon!” Though he didn’t always feel that way. Growing up on the city’s outskirts, it wasn’t until returning after time abroad that he saw it anew. “It was as a young and independent adult with an arts and architecture degree, and with the enthusiasm to explore — that I realized how beautiful, diverse, and interesting my city is.”
For Tiago, connecting with a culture means full immersion. “You have to experience it with open eyes, heart, and mind,” he says. That means talking to locals, walking unfamiliar routes, listening more than looking. “Lisbon isn’t just to be seen, but touched, smelled, and tasted.” It’s not a checklist—it’s a presence.
He also names two challenges: First, Lisbon’s historic neighborhoods are deeply distinct—each like its own mini-city. “Lisbon is multidimensional. It cannot—and should not—be rushed.” Second, mass tourism threatens the local character he cherishes. Responsible travel, he says, is essential to preserve the culture.
As tourism evolves, Tiago points toward Lisbon’s under-known strengths. “Gastronomy, street art, tiles, contemporary architecture… there’s so much more to discover!”

Accessible by a 40 minute ferry from Trapani, Favignana is a paradise for beach lovers and those seeking a serene seaside escape. The island's crystal-clear waters and picturesque coves offer an ideal setting for beach hopping - perfect for an off-the-beaten path day trip. Key highlights of this beach adventure include:

1. Ferry Ride from Trapani: The journey begins with a scenic ferry ride from Trapani, offering stunning views of the Mediterranean and the approaching island landscape.

2. Cala Rossa Beach: Known for its breathtaking beauty, Cala Rossa is a must-visit for its turquoise waters and rocky cliffs, perfect for swimming and snorkeling.

Make sure to arrive early on the island and calculate the time needed to get back to the port before the last ferry departs back to Trapani (in summer it is usually around 8 PM).

Favignana Beach Hopping

2. The two standing columns, overlooking the sea, are among the most iconic features of the site, creating a striking contrast against the blue waters.

A historically significant site, Mount Srđ played a crucial role during the Siege of Dubrovnik in the Croatian War of Independence and is now home to the Homeland War Museum. Whether you hike up, take the cable car, or drive, reaching the summit is a rewarding experience for nature lovers and photographers alike.

1. At the summit, breathtaking views of Dubrovnik’s terracotta rooftops and the deep blue Adriatic Sea make this one of the best photography spots in Croatia, especially at sunset.

1 - A Tapestry of Art: Inside the cathedral, you are greeted by a relatively austere interior that sharply contrasts with its elaborate exterior. Notable are the stained-glass windows designed by Lorenzo Ghiberti and other artworks, including various paintings and frescoes. 
2 - Climbing The Dome and Bell Tower: For those seeking a challenge, climbing Brunelleschi's dome is a must. The journey involves 463 steps, leading to breathtaking 360° views of Florence. The climb also offers a closer view of The Last Judgement frescoes and a unique perspective of the cathedral's architectural details. Another climbable structure, Giotto's Bell Tower, offers panoramic views of Florence. 
3 - The Baptistery of San Giovanni: Older than the cathedral itself, the Baptistery is renowned for its three sets of bronze doors, including the Gates of Paradise by Lorenzo Ghiberti. Australia

The best thing about visiting Australia is that scenic views and spectacular nature are just a stone's throw away, no matter where you are. If you're in Sydney, you won't get a better view of the ocean than walking through Royal National Park and taking Bundeena Drive to Marley Walk.

Passing through scenic heathland with small trees, you'll soon come to a bushwalk through a denser forest. We saw many native bird species, including the famous cockatoo, had a dip in one of the pools along the way, and took stunning sunset photos as you look out over the wild ocean. The tourist highlight is Wedding Cake Rock, but our personal star was Marley Beach, a dreamy, hidden sandy beach where you can relax and dip your feet in the refreshing water.

You can rent a car and drive directly to Bundeena, but we decided to take the train from Sydney to Cronulla and from there take the ferry to Bundeena.

2. The fresh produce stalls are brimming with colorful fruits, vegetables, herbs, and spices, showcasing the flavors of the Mediterranean. 
3. Traditional Greek delicacies and pantry items like olives, cheeses, honey, and dried herbs make this an ideal spot to shop for souvenirs or ingredients. 
4. The market is surrounded by small eateries and tavernas, where visitors can sample authentic dishes like souvlaki, grilled fish, or hearty stews.
