Guided by passionate fisherman Andrea Rossi, this journey is designed to immerse you in the natural wonders of the lagoon in just three hours. 

As you set sail from Burano, let the peaceful canals of the island of Torcello take your breath away. Then, delve into the lagoon's tranquil sandbanks, where Andrea will unveil the secrets of the lagoon's diverse bird species, and the aromatic plants that have been used in Venetian cuisine for centuries and are still employed by contemporary Venetian chefs to create unique dishes and liqueurs.  You will have plenty of opportunities for photos and foraging. At the end of the tour, Andrea will drop you off near the Burano traghetto stop. If you are interested, ask Andrea about his family’s lace shop where you can learn about Burano lace, as you explore the island on your own. 

This tour is perfect for nature and photography enthusiasts, and those seeking a short yet immersive exploration of the Venetian lagoon, far from the madding crowds. 

From Venice to Burano, it's a 20-25 minute ride by private water taxi (can be booked via your hotel) or a 45 minute ride on the public vaporetto (runs from 5 AM onwards, check exact time with hotel).

You'll discover the flora and fauna of the Venetian lagoon by following unique itineraries known only to local fishermen, far from the typical tourist routes. Along the way, you'll find plenty of photo opportunities, with stops for foraging, a chance to observe the differences in various species of clams, and the possibility of seeing pink flamingos and other birds. Plus, in the middle of the lagoon, enjoy a delightful snack and a refreshing drink to make your journey even more memorable. 

Andrea is a genuine steward of Burano’s fishing culture, including employing ancient fishing techniques and gathering edible plants from the mudflats. His primary mission in offering tours is to ensure the preservation of the traditional practices of the Venetian lagoon — he and the Burano Fishermen’s Cooperative work to preserve the lagoon and pass on traditional stewardship skills — and every booking supports this mission.

A relationship-led full-day wine journey through the Médoc, shaped by long-standing ties with family estates and classified châteaux - highlighting the wine, people, and continuity.

Begin with pickup at your accommodation in Bordeaux and a drive north into the Médoc, where vineyards stretch between the Gironde estuary and the Atlantic. The first stop is a family owned winery. A guided visit introduces traditional production methods, and the tasting reflects the character of a long established estate developed over generations. Continue at an unhurried pace, with time for a French style picnic before returning to the vineyards. 

In the afternoon, visit a Grand Cru Classé château listed in the historic 1855 classification, that offers insight into Médoc’s prestigious wine traditions. A final stop at another renowned classified château completes the sequence, highlighting a different expression of the region's wines. A scenic drive brings you back to Bordeaux through the vineyards.

Tim Cowley, a former professional rugby player from New Zealand, moved to Europe in 2003, originally planning to stay for just one year. Travel quickly became central to his life, and after retiring from rugby in 2012, he chose to focus on his passion for wine, travel, and French culture.

Anne Jordan, chef and guide with over thirteen years of experience, has lived in Bazas since the very moment she and her husband visited the village and decided to stay, a decade ago. Marie Fernández is a Mexican photographer who grew up in Mexico City. From 2017 to 2019, she studied photography in Paris and graduated as a photojournalist and documentary photographer. She is currently a member of the Women Photographers History collective.

Today, the site operates as a museum and memorial, honoring the thousands of political prisoners, partisans, and Jewish victims who were imprisoned, tortured, and deported from this location. Walking through the stark, somber complex offers a powerful and deeply moving experience.


1. At the entrance, a vast, empty courtyard evokes a haunting sense of history, where prisoners once stood before being interrogated or deported to Auschwitz and other camps. The atmosphere is solemn and reflective.

If you're looking for an unconventional neighborhood with art galleries, parks to hang out in, and lots of young, trendy people, Newtown is the place for you. I basically spend all my weekends there, drinking coffee, going to book clubs, working at the community kitchen Lentil as Anything, and having a beer at one of the lively bars at night. 

Australians love vintage – which makes Newtown the heaven for vintage clothes, cameras, vinyl records, and much more. I’ve got some new sandals, a polaroid camera, and jewelry, all unique pieces at an amazing price. Worth the hype!

You can easily get there by train, it's just a ride from Town Hall, or simply stay a few days in one of the hostels in Newtown.
