Tequila Day Tour from Guadalajara: Lowlands agave fields, artisanal distilleries, premium tastings.

What is this?

A full-day passage from blue-agave rows to the tasting table in the Tequila Denomination of Origin. You depart Guadalajara by luxury SUV in the morning for the Lowlands — Tequila, Amatitán, El Arenal — where warm days and volcanic soils shape the plant. Breakfast sets the pace (gorditas, barbacoa tacos, café de olla). In the fields, your host tells you about the rows (age, brix, ripeness) and demonstrates the "jima" with the "coa". Two pre-arranged, family-run distilleries — Cava de Oro and Cascahuín (or comparable houses, subject to scheduling) — open their floors for an unhurried walk-through: ovens/autoclaves, milling, open vs. closed ferments, cuts, stills. In a private cellar, you taste seven premium tequila and mezcal expressions — learning to link aromas and texture to process. Lunch later is regional (birria, enchiladas, sopes, alambres, salsa, paloma). Stroll through Tequila’s historic center — mariachi in the plaza — and then, a comfortable ride back to Guadalajara.

What makes this unique?

This is a local's route into the soul of Jalisco. It’s designed for substance, authenticity and comfortable pacing over a scripted show. You'll go beyond the commercial routes to two artisanal, family-owned distilleries. One is known for its heritage, craftsmanship, old-school methods, earthy/peppery valley character; widely respected by agave nerds. The other is a benchmark in artisanal tequila with an exceptional process. These are true Mexican projects rooted in tradition and passion. Guided by accredited experts, you’ll walk through stunning agave fields perfect for photos, learn about production techniques, and taste premium tequilas in a private setting. Along the way, you’ll eat Jalisco specialties like a local and see the magical town of Tequila, where the streets are alive with song, color and tradition. Logistics — private transport, timings, menus — are handled end to end so your attention can focus on the work, the culture, the people, the spirit.

What is the profile of the host?

Giancarlo works in tequila culture from farm to glass. He leads high-end experiences through the agave fields of Jalisco and develops premium tequila projects — from liquid profiling to brand creation. Trained in science, craft and branding (with a Master’s in Tequila Production), he balances fermentation know-how with clear, grounded storytelling across cultivation, roasting, distillation, and tasting. He shares hosting duties with a small team of tequila specialists who are passionate about Mexico’s heritage, many with advanced training in tequila production. Together they offer context on how fields are managed, how profiles are built, how small producers keep tradition alive — and arrange respectful access to artisanal distilleries.

What to bring?

Comfortable clothes and closed-toe shoes. Sun protection: hat/cap, sunscreen, sunglasses. Cash for purchasing tequila items. Note: In Mexico the legal drinking age is 18+; bring valid ID. Participation implies you accept responsibility for your own alcohol consumption during and after the tour. If you have dietary needs, share in advance.
