The experience starts over a cup of coffee in a cafe where Bernardo will discuss the best camera settings for capturing tango on the street. He will address compositional tips, focusing techniques, and working with moving subjects. This is an opportunity to ask any questions and get to grips with the functionality of your camera or device (smartphones are welcome). As the activity progresses, he will continue to impart knowledge and mentor you throughout.

If you’re the kind of traveler who feels shy about photographing people on the street, then this experience takes care of that. Hosted by a professional Porteño photographer whose work appears in publications all over the world, you will partake in a private photography session with two tango dancers in La Boca. This dancing duo will be dressed in full costume and make-up and you will have the opportunity to chat before and during the experience—providing a rare access moment to learn about this art form from those who practice it and take a closer look at the fashion.The setting itself couldn't be more appropriate. After all, La Boca is one of the barrios of Buenos Aires where tango found its feet in the 19th century. 

Bernardo will art direct the shoot, indicating where and how the dancers should pose while at the same time assisting you with your camera settings and composition. All you need to worry about is taking compelling photos and feeling the rhythm!

Buenos Aires is one of the southernmost capitals in the world and also an exciting city. Although there are many ways to explore Argentine city life, biking is the most fun.

Biking is free in Buenos Aires, at least for a few hours. Using an app I downloaded to my phone, I spent the next few days biking around the Botanical Gardens, the best museums, art galleries, El Caminito, the riverfront, and the city's largest flea market (on weekends only!). While you’re at it, you can also visit one of the most beautiful cemeteries in the world in Recoleta.

The bike paths are well developed, and if you follow the signs, you'll find the main points quickly. Be careful, helmets are not available. If you want to be on the safe side, rent one in one of the bike rentals.

Cycling through Buenos Aires

Chile’s El Tatio Geysers form the largest geyser field in the Southern Hemisphere and the third-largest in the world, located at an altitude of 4,320 meters (14,170 feet) in the Atacama Desert. El Tatio Geysers

I am completely fascinated by Buddhist prayer wheels. Our guide tells us that we should walk clockwise, turning the wheel and chanting, “Om Mani Padme Hum”. “Will that give me extra strength to climb up to the Tiger’s Nest monastery tomorrow?”, I ask him. “Absolutely”, he says earnestly. Well, at least one of us has faith, I think to myself.

Paro Taktsang - or Tiger’s Nest monastery - hangs off a cliff at a dizzying 10,240 feet over the Paro Valley. It’s a 5 hour climb, punctuated with lunch. Not too tough, as it turns out. I must be fitter than I think. But the guide reminds me - “See, I told you so”. 

The hike (including getting to the trailhead) takes about 6-7 hours, depending on how much time you spend at the monastery. 4 miles round trip on a wide dirt trail. At the halfway point is a cafeteria - and for most people, getting to this point is the toughest part of the hike. Beyond this, both the scenery and the difficulty of the climb are in your favor.

Designed by Piermarini, it has premiered works of legendary composers like Bellini and Verdi, and hosted luminaries such as Nureyev and Callas. La Scala's inaugural performance in 1778 was marked by an incident where the chandelier crashed to the ground, fortunately without causing injuries. This dramatic start did not hinder its rise to prominence as a central figure in Milanese culture.

2 - The theater has undergone various renovations that improved acoustics and seating. Despite its unassuming exterior, the interior of La Scala is a blend of neoclassical style and modern comforts, with the individual boxes once decorated according to the owner's tastes. The auditorium is adorned with plush red velvet and gilded accents.

3 - Renowned for its near-perfect acoustics, La Scala is a challenging yet prestigious stage for the world’s most talented performers. The acoustics are so fine-tuned that even the type of rope used backstage is chosen for its sound qualities. La Scala was also a pioneer in lighting technology, being the first building in Milan to have electric lights. 

4 - The La Scala Museum, part of the opera house, offers insights into its rich history and is included in the tour of the opera house. It’s a trove of operatic history, showcasing costumes, set designs, and rare artifacts. It provides a deeper understanding of the theater's impact on the arts.

Tickets should be booked well in advance, especially for popular performances. The upper gallery seats offer a great view and acoustics at a lower price.

Teatro alla Scala

I have traveled to Moab, Utah on more than one occasion and every time it has been an absolute blast! This small, more local town is home to some amazing things that you can’t find anywhere else. 

There is a place there that I travel to every time called Mill Creek Canyon. It is a short hike to a watering hole that supplies the river you will have to cross more than once. Once you reach the watering hole, you will find an amazing view and usually many friendly people depending on what time you go. 

Now, it can get pretty hot in Utah so don’t forget the water and the sunblock, as well as a swimming suit!

The main attraction there is the cliff jumping! You can climb up the small waterfall and there will be a small ledge where you can jump from into the freezing water below. Let me tell you, it’s an absolute blast that you will never forget! 

I highly recommend this location to all people, even if you’re just passing through
