Upon meeting your host, Flor, at La Moneda Cultural Center you will view the current textile exposition installed at the gallery before continuing onwards to the Gabriela Mistral Cultural Center. These centers serve as an introduction to traditional weaving styles still prevalent in modern Chilean and Andean cultures. Flor will then take you to her go-to yarn store, the ultra-funky Revesderecho, and explain about different fibers while sharing the historical development of store items for context. The experience concludes at the Los Dominicos Craft Village in Las Condes where Flor will facilitate conversations with artisans.

Flor has curated this experience as an opportunity to learn about Chilean textiles in a relaxed context. Florencia Campos Correa, or Flor, is a Chilean-Spanish textile designer and author based in Santiago. Her business, Ullvuna, is dedicated to portable pin loom weaving kits which are available globally. Much of Flor's inspiration comes from her passion and appreciation for Chilean culture and people. She deeply admires the landscapes and nature as well as the ancient fables she absorbed as a child while traveling every corner of Chile by caravan with her family.

Flor has authored several books packed with vibrant pattern inspiration and projects. Her nature motifs are translated into floral crochet designs published in a British magazine and she has penned a children's story which inspires creativity and entrepreneurship in the youngest of budding designers. 

Argentina

This 2-hour experience introduces you to the culture of mate, Argentina’s most iconic social ritual. You'll gather around the table for an engaging introduction to the origins of mate and the legends tied to it, followed by hands-on guidance in preparing the infusion the Argentine way.

Pronounced mah-tay, it’s rare to see a Porteño without this caffeinated herbal drink of yerba mate leaves in hand. But mate is more than just a beverage—it’s about sharing, forming connections, and building community. You’ll learn the traditional preparation method, rooted in Indigenous customs, history and identity, and experience the ritual first-hand. The way mate is passed around in a group—even the order—follows unspoken rules rooted in respect and hospitality.

All materials to prepare your own mate are included. The tastings include high-end varieties of mate including with herbs, sweet mate, cooked mate, and tereré. The ritual is accompanied by traditional Argentine biscuits and bread.

Mexico

In this studio visit you'll meet an architect who is playing with ways to use objects the city leaves behind — cement blocks, plastic crates, shattered tiles, and other things that often slip into invisibility. 

Inspired by his background in environmental design, Javier transforms such fragments into sculptural furniture such as chairs, tables and shelves. Each piece is a constellation of temporalities and forgotten stories, a collection and reconfiguration of objects found throughout CDMX, which Javier sources himself.

Javier will welcome you to his studio and share his process, sharing how walking, gathering, and assembling have become methods to map the city and its leftovers. He'll discuss what his design work says about Mexico City, and also how he's approached this work in other cities such as London, where he's been an artist in residence. 

The experience offers a unique window into how design can be responsive, situated and radically resourceful, as well as being sculptural.

This exclusive experience offers rare access to Javier's studio in central Mexico City, where objects in various stages of development reveal the intuitive and speculative nature of his work. Every piece is singular and made with wild, non-standard measurements and joined using simple, reversible techniques. More than a studio tour, this visit is a conversation on contemporary design, ecological imagination, and the aesthetics of reuse — a slow, thoughtful look at the anatomy of urban space through its overlooked material life.

Javier Guzmán Cervantes is an artist, designer, and builder based in Mexico City. His work explores residual realities in the contemporary metropolis, developing domestic infrastructures, furniture, and structural systems through low-tech and autonomous processes out of debris, residues, and material fragments gathered through urban exploration. In this process, he engages with concepts such as degrowth, living otherwise, and post-development, questioning the role of art, design and construction in relation to sustainability and community.

Through direct contact with the city, Javier's practice transforms discarded objects into local resources, creating not only tactical approaches to construction but also serving as traces of life and local processes within the city: revealing stories.

In 2023, he founded Ex Soup, an art and design experiment based in Mexico City that uses walking, urban wandering, and low-tech methods to collect and reassemble the city’s remains.

This full-day tour begins in Bilbao and takes you by private car through the landscapes, towns and cultural memory of Basque Country — from industrial past to prehistoric art, from coastline to forest.

You start at the Bizkaia Bridge in Getxo, a UNESCO World Heritage site and symbol of the region’s industrial legacy. From there, continue inland to Guernica, the town made famous by Picasso's legendary anti-war painting - find out how the area was impacted by the Civil War.

Next, the road turns coastal. You'll visit fishing villages and dramatic viewpoints along the Bay of Biscay — beaches beloved by surfers and headlands featured in Game of Thrones. A seasonal Basque lunch highlights local flavors.

Later, the magical Bosque de Oma where trees are adorned with paintings, awaits, as do the Santimamiñe caves, home to prehistoric art. End the day with txakoli tasting overlooking vineyards, as your guide helps reflect on how each stop brought you closer to Basque Country's unique spirit.

The Basques are among Europe’s earliest known inhabitants, with evidence suggesting people lived here over 200,000 years ago. At each stop, history reveals itself through physical traces — a cave wall, a war-damaged town square, a transporter bridge still in use. Your first stop will be to the Puente Bizkaia, one of the area's most iconic industrial monuments. This is a great starting point for understanding the Basuqe Country's industrial history and character. From the top, you'll also get stunning views of the river and surrounding valley. In the town of Getxo (which the bridge takes you to) you will see examples of 19th mansions, built by the wealth accumulated by the area's industrial magnates.

Next, you'll be driven to Guernica, the subject of Picasso's anti-war and anti-fascist painting which hangs in Madrid's Reina Sofia. Here, you'll be taken on a walking tour through the town and into the assembly house. This provides the perfect excuse to find out more about Basque culture, history, and language. 

This experience brings together the two forces that have most shaped the Basque Country: industry and politics. The Puente Bizkaia is not just an engineering marvel, but also a UNESCO World Heritage Site that represents the region’s transformation into an industrial powerhouse. Bilbao History 101

The Bay of Biscay is famous for its beautiful coastline, beaches, and food. At Mundaka you'll stop off for a panaromic view, which changes dramatically between low tide and high tide. You'll then be taken to the historic town of Bermeo for a walking tour.

Heading inland you'll find two examples of Basque artistry. Santimamiñe is a cave that contains Paleolithic paintings and engravings dating back 14,000. These depictions of bison, horses, and deer give us a glimpse into a prehistoric world. This cave is only accessible April-October. Meanwhile, nearby, in the Bosque de Oma you'll find pine tress painted by Basque artist Agustín Ibarrola in the 1980s.  The geometric shapes, eyes, animals, and colorful forms you'll find here change depending on where you're standing, playing with your perspective in the forest.

This journey captures the essence of the Basque Coast in a way that blends scenery, culture, and cuisine. Mundaka is legendary for being home to one of the longest left-hand breaks in the world, making it a pilgrimage site for wave-riders. Yet the experience doesn’t stop at natural beauty—the town of Bermeo adds a vibrant cultural layer.

The cave and forest add another dimension completely. Here, you'll see art 14,000 years old, as well as paintings on living tress. These are two dramatically different examples of art and culture interacting with nature, and provide an opportunity to witness the full length and breadth of Basque culture.

Maritime and Inland Cultures

Before being taken back to Bilbao, you'll go to San Juan de Gaztelugatxe, an islet connected to the mainland by a man-made bridge, home to a 10th century hermitage. San Juan de Gaztelugatxe was made famous thanks to its use as a location for the Season 8 of Games of Thrones.

This region is legendary for its cuisine. M'Angel will take you to a hand-picked spot, either inland or by the coast, depending on the season, where you'll enjoy beautiful wines and regions dishes of the highest quality. 

You'll get to enjoy some choice regional wines and pintxos at a txakoli winery. Txakoli wine tends to be white and is known for its citrusy and herby palate.

This experience blends cinematic landscapes with the region’s distinctive wine culture. San Juan de Gaztelugatxe is one of the most breathtaking sights in northern Spain—a craggy island crowned with a hermitage that has stood for over a thousand years. Walking its stone bridge and climbing the winding steps feels like stepping into legend, an impression magnified by its role as a Game of Thrones filming location. 

From there, the transition to a txakoli winery highlights another Basque treasure. Unlike any other Spanish wine, txakoli is crisp, lightly sparkling, and uniquely tied to the coastal terroir. She’s passionate about cultural heritage, wrote her thesis on Basque cinema, studied art and film in England, and completed a master’s degree in Brussels. In 2020, she contributed to scenario design for the Bilbao Urban Regeneration Process.

This tour offers a primer on the Spanish Civil War as it was experienced in Madrid. Here, local Republican fighters and regular citizens held out against bombardment for three years, bolstered by the legendary phrase ¡No pasarán!, "They shall not pass!" 

You'll visit many surviving markers of the conflict, which can still be found within walking distance of the city centre, from machine-gun nests in one of Madrid's most beautiful urban parks to bullet holes in the walls of the nearby University City. En route you'll hear a story that tells not only of battle scars but also of communal spirit. 

The war remains a contentious subject, and we’ll tread lightly through some of the complexities of historical memory as we walk and talk. I am never going to climb a sand dune again. I say that vehemently (many times) as I climb Dune 45.

After 50 long, sand-filled minutes taken to trudge up, here are the lessons learned: Take slow steps. Barefoot works best. One step forward will indeed feel like two steps backward. Don’t stop. Don’t get disheartened if a sprightly guide whizzes past you in an attempt to beat his own 10 minute record. When you have reached the peak and admired the view, scream a joyful “whee-eee” and slide down the side of the dune, marveling at the roaring sound of the minor avalanche that you will create. 

Ok, can we do that again? 

Nearby is Dead Vlei / Sossusvlei. It’s a kaleidoscope of yellow and orange sands and the white of the stunning vlei. Meanwhile, the oryx are vying with each other to position themselves strategically into my shots. They seem to have no issues with climbing dunes. Then again, I don’t see them doing any joyful slides down.

Catania's fish market, known locally as "A Piscaria," is the heart of the city. It’s loud, it’s surprising, it’s humbling, it’s real. Colours, fragrances, and market place shouting.

A visit to Catania's fish market allows you to immerse yourself in the local culture, adding a unique and flavorful element to your Sicily travels.

The fish market comes to life in the early morning, around 5.30 a.m., when the fishmongers arrive. But from around 7.30 a.m., the market offers a more calm environment; it's easier to roam among the booths, and soak up the environment.
