Chile

This 3.8 km (2.4 miles) hike is staged in the dramatic Vilama River Canyon, also known as Cactus Canyon or Cactus Valley. This volcanic canyon is carved by the junction of the Puritama River — which means "hot water" in the Kunza language — and the "cold water" Puripica River. This unique mix creates an oasis that supports the highest concentration of the giant, tree-like cactus species, Echinopsis Atacamensis (Cardón). 

After a 35-minute drive from San Pedro, the circuit usually takes between 2.5 to 3 hours. Although you'll maintain a leisurely pace, this trek has a "moderate difficulty" rating, and requires physical stability and hiking experience. The terrain is uneven at times and requires the occasional use of hands to navigate rocky boulders. The route involves several river crossings (summer rain sees the maximum water level reach knee-height) and high elevation/temperatures. These components foster an immersive hiking experience with high potential for spotting local birds. 

Cactus Valley is a living ecosystem where giant cacti have thrived for centuries. Those passionate about natural history will feel in their element here—particularly as your guide is an expert on the Atacama Desert's geology, flora, and fauna. While steering you through this surreal environment, Valeria will share her knowledge of the different formations and how the confluence of the "hot" and "cold" rivers created a one-of-a-kind ecosystem. She will point out native bird species feeding on the desert flora and bathing in the water. Sightings may include the greenish-yellow finch, the variable hawk, mountain parakeets, and the black-billed shrike tyrant.

Hiking in the Atacama Desert comes with challenges relating to the arid atmosphere and high elevation. Although rated "moderate", this hike proves far more engaging than the average sightseeing tour. Valeria will ensure you feel safe at all times and urge you to cultivate a mindful experience with the flora, fauna, and terrain.

Türkiye

This experience explores Didyma after dark, when the Temple of Apollo opens for night museum hours and the site is illuminated. Departing from Izmir (or Kuşadası) or Bodrum around 16:30, you travel by private vehicle for 90 min to Didim for an early dinner — simple dishes timed to fit the schedule — while your host frames the myths and history you’re about to see. 

From 19:30–21:30, you’ll enter the sanctuary and walk through one of antiquity’s most imposing Ionic temples which Strabo, the Ancient Greek geographer once described as a “temple within a forest of columns.” 

Hatice — a licensed guide, storyteller and culture expert — walks you through the colossal Ionic plan, the unfinished cella enclosure, the Medusa reliefs, column drums and bases and the Sacred Way that once linked Didyma to Miletus. With cooler air, fewer visitors and dramatic lighting, this is an awe-inspiring visit that reveals both the monumentality and intimacy of an oracle site. Return to Izmir is around 23:00.

You experience Didyma after dark — part of Türkiye’s Heritage for the Future initiative — with custom multi-toned lighting and restored walkways that highlight architectural details often lost in daylight. Hatice connects architecture and archaeology to culture and ritual: how oracles once operated here, why the Hellenistic temple remained unfinished despite its vast plan, and how the Milesian procession arrived from the coast. This full-day photographic excursion whisks you away to salty lagoons and a traditional Atacameño town as yet untouched by tourism. Besides learning landscape photography tips and tricks under the eye of a professional photographer, you will float in a saline lake and learn the geological importance of the region's ecosystem.

The day starts at Cejar Lagoon where the high salinity carries you across the surface of the lake without needing to stroke or kick. Swimming is optional yet highly recommended. After drying off, you will visit the Tebenquinche Lagoon to study the salt deposits from the lakeside. There is a relaxed lunch interlude in the town of Toconao where you will tour its main square and side streets. The afternoon concludes at the Atacama Salt Flat in the Chaxa Lagoon where flamingos wade in the shallows for shrimp. Throughout the day, photography remains the priority. 

This is an immersive exploration of the flora and fauna of the Salar de Atacama focusing on photography. Mirko—schooled in the geology and geography of the region—will impart knowledge sharpened by years of living in San Pedro de Atacama. He will explain the fragility of the ecosystems and provide insight into why the Indigenous Licanantay people consider the lagoons and volcanoes sacred. As a professional photographer, he will train your eye to capture the smallest of details and mentor you through the stages of capturing landscapes and close-ups.

The experience also includes the option to swim in Cejar Lagoon; a thrilling experience which fosters a deeper connection with the environment and supports with acclimatizing to this parched landscape. Concluding in the Chaxa Lagoon, you are likely to encounter all three species of resident flamingo: Chilean, Andean, and James's. The pace is unhurried as you study their movements and capture their pink hues against the turquoise lagoon.

Meet Pierre in the heart of Bordeaux and start your experience with a walk through the historic Saint-Michel district, where you’ll stop at a local café to get to know the neighborhood. Over coffee or tea, Pierre will share stories from his daily life and explain how his studio fits into this historic and lively area.

Back at the atelier, you’ll explore the origins of photography and learn about wet plate collodion—a 19th-century technique that uses glass or metal plates, chemical baths, and a large format camera. Pierre will guide you step by step as you coat, sensitize, expose, and develop your own image.

Watching your portrait come to life is a striking visual moment: deep contrasts, delicate textures, and a vintage feel that’s hard to find elsewhere. While your image slowly appears, Pierre shares family stories and his personal view of Bordeaux and photography. You can also choose to shoot outdoors and include a glimpse of the city in your portrait.

This is a private, full-day tour from Guadalajara to Lake Chapala—Mexico’s largest freshwater lake and a vital ecological and cultural landmark. Surrounded by mountains, the lake offers stunning natural beauty, a mild climate, and charming lakeside towns.

Departing from and returning to the city of Valparaíso, this full-day wine experience takes you to three wineries in the Casablanca Valley. The youngest wine region in Chile is nourished by the cool breezes and morning fogs of the Humboldt Current, thus producing crisp Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc varieties. 

Al Ramirez, a Porteño Sommelier, will accompany you for the entire day. The outing starts with a blind tasting of four wines at the first winery. At the second estate, you will enjoy four organic wines paired with four cheeses. The third and final stop concludes with a four-course pairing lunch. The museum of photographs is fascinating in how it came about – two famous photographers, Patrick Menac’h and Hamid Mergani, brought together their common passion for vintage Moroccan photography, and pooled their photos for the public to admire. Here I realize how black-and-white photos can dramatize the light-and-shadow effects in the medina.

From the terrace, you can have a glass of mint tea, and wonder about the thousands of satellite dishes that dominate the view. 

It’s peaceful here. On a clear day, you can see the snow-clad High Atlas Mountains. But you can’t see the chaos of Djemaa el-Fna, or hear shouts of ‘Balek!’ whenever donkey-carts come through laden with heavy goods. You can’t see the ‘hand of Fatima’ good-luck symbols painted on the carts after they have ambled past you. Or count the number of chickens being transported on the back of a groaning Vespa.

2 - Climbing The Dome and Bell Tower: For those seeking a challenge, climbing Brunelleschi's dome is a must. The journey involves 463 steps, leading to breathtaking 360° views of Florence. The climb also offers a closer view of The Last Judgement frescoes and a unique perspective of the cathedral's architectural details. Pillowcase or jack-o’-lantern bucket?

It’s Halloween time in Beacon Hill in Boston. After much consideration, I decide that I am too old to collect candy from my generous neighbors.

So I pick up my camera instead and wander through Boston’s most historic neighborhood to celebrate its annual Halloween tradition.

Since the 1970s, this is one day when the charming tree-lined streets of Beacon Hill get packed ..
 
.. with costumed pets and people, infants dressed as pumpkins to the elderly dressed in traditional witching gear.

Watch out for the brooms. 

I run into a friend dressed up as Jamie Lannister from the Game of Thrones, complete with chopped arm hanging around his neck.

There’s a dog dressed up as a skunk.

A house on Pinckney Street is showing black-and-white Dracula movies.

Beacon Hill has the perfect Halloween atmosphere with the wrought iron, cobblestones, narrow alleys and seriously all-out decoration.

So, trick or treat?

The Bonneville Salt Flats are not to be missed! A slight detour off I-80 near the UT/NV is a moon-like alternate universe not to be missed. Go for a quick run through the salt flats or just stop for a quick photo op or picnic!
