What is this?

This full-day private outing from Cusco takes you to three of the Sacred Valley's most significant archaeological sites: Ollantaytambo Fortress, Moray Archaeological Site, and the Maras Salt Mines. ower elevations make this full-day excursion ideal for acclimatization in Cusco. After a private transfer from Cusco to Ollantaytambo, you'll visit the village's prized attraction — an Inca settlement with a history of pioneering engineering works used for ceremonial activities, private lodging, agriculture, and defence. Moving on to Moray, circular terraces with varying microclimates reveal the remarkable agricultural knowledge possessed by the Inca people. At Maras Salt Mines, you'll hear how these 6,000 salt ponds have been used for salt extraction since pre-Columbian times, and particularly of their use during the Inca Empire. The excursion also includes a traditional Pachamanca lunch at a local restaurant and the opportunity to purchase salt directly from the mines. L

What makes this unique?

This carefully crafted experience invites you to fully immerse yourself in history, local culture, and Andean traditions in the company of a local guide. The route is curated for travelers looking for a unique experience that highlights the beauty and cultural richness of Peru's Sacred Valley — and the genius of its people. These remarkable Inca sites, scenic terraces, and traditional salt pans reveal so much about how previous communities supported themselves living in this isolated valley, and how they incorporated rituals and respect for their gods into their daily life. At each location, Renato will share expert narrative about each site, express where mysteries continue to astound archaeologists and historians, and bridge past and present. As a small private tour, his narration can focus on topics of greater interest to your party. Lunch, a specially prepared Pachamanca spread, provides time to reflect on learnings and hear about modern traditions — in the kitchen and beyond.
