A Gathering of Sufi Presence

This is a spiritual and immersive storytelling experience that invites you into the mystical world of Sufism through music, narrative and spirituality. Set in a traditional riad, the evening unfolds in three parts: a guided lecture, a live Sufi music ritual, and an intimate dinner. This is an experience designed for the curious and contemplative. A rare chance to witness Morocco’s spiritual heritage. The session begins with a storytelling session inspired by the scholarly gatherings of Ben Youssef Madrasa. A trained and knowledgeable storyteller will introduce themes at the heart of Moroccan Sufism—divine love (Ishk al Ilahi), wisdom (Hikma), being (Wujud), and the interplay of perfection and imperfection. Following this, a female Sufi music ensemble performs Hadra rituals—an ancient, rhythmic spiritual tradition using chants and percussion to evoke presence and devotion. Eventually, you will continue the discussion with the storyteller in a warm, reflective setting.

This experience is modeled on the structure of traditional Sufi gatherings—where knowledge is shared through presence, rhythm, and intimate dialogue. It offers rare access to an authentic form of spiritual exploration shaped by Morocco’s centuries-old Sufi traditions. The evening begins with reflection and teaching, followed by the richness of Sufi music performed by a talented female Hadra ensemble from Marrakech—custodians of a sacred, rarely heard musical lineage. They lead abbreviated steps of a ritual once used to reach ecstatic states of divine connection—distinct from the more commonly heard Gnawa rhythms—and followed by the exquisite flavors of Moroccan cuisine. This provides a supportive platform for female artists in the Sufi music scene, showcasing their interpretations of spiritual music. The integration of Sufi teachings and shared dialogue over dinner makes this a soulful journey—crafted for those seeking a deeper connection to Moroccan culture and spirituality.
