What is this?
Enjoy exclusive, out-of-hours access to two remarkable architectural works: the most intimate way to experience Luis Barragán’s legacy.
You meet your Barragán expert at Casa Estudio Barragán, the architect’s own residence. Completed in 1948, it’s a composition of color, light, shadow. The home feels like a living artwork and still hold Barragán’s furniture, tools and the quiet he designed for himself. It remains the only private residence in Latin America designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Casa Gilardi, from 1976, was Barragán’s final masterpiece. Built around a jacaranda tree, the house embodies his belief that architecture should inspire emotion and contemplation. It distills a lifetime of vision into a poetic structure where modern geometry meets spiritual calm.
At both locations, enjoy a private tour during hours reserved solely for you—a unique way to experience the spaces in tranquility. A lunch featuring classic and inventive Mexican flavors completes the experience.
What makes this unique?
Luis Barragán’s architecture responded to the cold rationalism of Modernism with vivid color, emotion, and light. Deeply influenced by the Mexican landscape and tradition, his work evokes spirituality through walls, water, and silence.
This experience allows you to visit two of his most celebrated houses at a time reserved entirely for you, led by an expert who has worked closely with these properties for many years. You’ll be able to move at your own pace and dig deep into Barragán’s influences — how he insisted that architecture must express serenity and transformed materials into spaces of grace and reflection.
This experience has a 10-day booking cut-off period to provide exclusive access outside public hours. Lunch with Andrea follows the visits — a relaxed opportunity to reflect with a seasoned art curator on what you’ve seen, and to talk about Mexico City’s art and architecture scene, from exhibitions to restaurants and contemporary design projects.
