Chiara Roscioli
What is this?
This experience invites you to step into a lesser-known Rome on a storytelling walk designed for curious minds. Starting from Piazza Venezia, you’ll explore what lies behind the imposing façade of the Vittoriano—layers of Italian history often overlooked in plain sight.
From there, you’ll weave through quiet alleys, hidden churches, and forgotten corners, where masterpieces by Caravaggio, Raphael, Michelangelo, and Bernini remain in the very places they were created for. Each piece reveals a fragment of Rome’s layered identity—through symbols, visual codes, and narratives that time has blurred. You’ll even encounter a striking visual puzzle: an artwork that hides another… and yet another still.
The walk ends at the Pantheon, a monument known to many but truly seen by few. Here, you’ll gain new insight into its construction, its contradictions, and the subtle clues that reveal a far more complex past than its fame suggests.
What makes this unique?
What sets this experience apart is Chiara’s perspective—rooted in her background as an art historian and trained restorer, but guided by a genuine curiosity for the unnoticed. Rather than retracing the familiar, she invites you to question what often goes unquestioned: why certain artworks are still exactly where they were first imagined, and what that context can reveal.
You’ll explore churches where works by Caravaggio, Raphael, and others remain anchored to their original space—pieces that are rarely highlighted, though they rival those in major museums. Chiara shows how they speak to the place, the people who once saw them, and the messages they were meant to carry.
Her way of guiding is shaped by dialogue. Guests are encouraged to follow their instincts, ask questions, and pause when something catches their eye. This experience opens up new ways of seeing, and leaves you with a deeper sense of how art can shape, conceal, and hold traces of a city’s past.
What is the profile of the host?
Chiara was born and raised in Trastevere, in the heart of Rome, where her passion for hidden stories and art began early. She studied Ancient Greek and Art History in Berlin, then returned to Rome to complete a Master’s degree focused on Renaissance art and restoration. For the past eight years, she has been guiding travelers through the city she knows intimately, blending history, art, and storytelling to reveal the layers of Rome most people miss.
