Over light refreshments, you’ll hear how Shannon relocated from the United States to Chile and established herself as a muralist working between two cultures. She will share insights into her creative process and the techniques behind large-scale public artworks. Through an interactive presentation, you’ll explore some of her murals across Chile and beyond, gaining an understanding of how street art reflects cultural narratives and urban identities.

Inside her studio, you’ll view a curated selection of her works, from completed pieces to works in progress, offering a rare behind-the-scenes look at an artist’s evolving practice. The session also provides an opportunity to discuss the role of public art in shaping communities and the inspirations that fuel her vibrant, large-scale creations.

This rare-access, behind-the-scenes experience takes place in the private studio of an artist whose work bridges the cultural landscapes of Chile and the United States. Originally from Minnesota, multimedia artist Shannon McEvoy studied in Viña del Mar in 2010. The country and its people left a lasting impression on her, and she quickly returned after graduation. Inspired by the street art of Valparaíso, she incorporated Chilean muralism into her undergraduate Honors Thesis and later became a muralist herself.

Shannon has lived in Chile for over 10 years, where she teaches English and creates murals—though her talents extend far beyond. She also paints, sketches, makes ceramics and jewelry, designs her own clothes, and experiments with photography. As an artistic director, she has overseen several monumental public art installations in Santiago and beyond.

Passionate about both art and language, Shannon sees them as powerful tools for self-expression and meaningful connection. Bilingual in English and Spanish, she also speaks basic Portuguese.

The Ca' d'Oro: Golden Legacy

Antalya, Turkey, is home to the Antalya Museum, one of the country’s most important archaeological museums, showcasing thousands of years of history from ancient civilizations that once thrived in the region. There are so many museums and art galleries in Paris that it's hard to decide where to go first. Most tourists want to stand in line at the Louvre, admire Claude Monet, or visit the National Museum of Art – but as so few check out the famous street art of Paris, we knew it was our thing to do.
There is so much history behind each piece of art or painting out there that it is worth investing some extra money and time to immerse yourself in Paris's artistic exploration fully. We did a whole self-organized art walk visiting 7 streets, with an audio tour, and visited the different places on our own (though you can get a personal guide). 
Our highlight was Rue Saint-Maur – a 2km-long street painted mainly by the artist Kashink. The artist plays with classic elements of Parisian street art and combines them with modern political messages.

A day out for hiking at fundy

Canal Grande in Trieste

The Mayan culture is one of the most important indigenous cultures in Southern Mexico. Artifacts from bygone times stretch far across the jungles of Quintana Roos and Chiapas. 

If you want to learn more about how indigenous peoples lived before colonization, don't miss the ruins of Palenque. Arguably the largest Mayan ruins on the continent, they're tucked away, deeply hidden in the Mexican jungle. The highlights of the actual ruins are the numerous temples, a palace and aqueducts, and of course, a guided tour where you can learn all about Mexico's history. If you venture out into the jungle, you'll encounter rare wildlife like monkeys, colorful birds, and giant snakes.

Take sunscreen, plenty of water, and some snacks, as the tour takes at least half a day.

A walk along the oceanfront to the Castle of San Sebastián in Cádiz is a captivating experience that combines stunning coastal views, rich history, and the serene beauty of the Atlantic Ocean. 4. Sunset Views: The castle's location offers one of the best spots in Cádiz for viewing the sunset. The golden light reflecting on the water and the ancient walls creates a magical atmosphere.

Tip: Visit during the evening to catch the sunset, and don’t forget your camera for some stunning coastal shots! Entrance to the castle is often free, but check for events that may add to your visit.

Oceaside Walk to San Sebastián

A slow-paced night photo walk. On foot over odd shaped cobblestones. 

It does not start well as it starts raining even as we take a cab to Pantheon to meet our local photographer and lose a wallet in the cab. We miraculously get It back (another story) and we start our walk .. lethargic, in deference to summer, but still aware of art and life.

We walk from the Pantheon through Piazza Navona to Ponte Vittorio Emmanuel for views over to the Vatican.  The streets are wet, and Piazza Navona is teeming with Romans doing la passeggiata, an evening ritual I wish we could reapply in other cities. 

Later, joining the locals in their celebration of Summer along River Tiber (Lungo il Tivera Roma) well into midnight, it is easy to forget all about work and settle more definitively into a vacation frame-of-mind. 

Afterwards, a stroll to Campidoglio for priceless views of the illuminated Roman Forum, seems like just the thing to do.

To Rome, With Love

The Akrotiri Lighthouse, perched on the southwestern tip of Santorini, is one of the island’s most iconic and scenic landmarks. Built in 1892, this historic lighthouse is renowned for its stunning views of the Aegean Sea and dramatic sunsets. While the lighthouse itself is not open to the public, the surrounding area offers a peaceful and picturesque spot to admire the rugged coastline and soak in the natural beauty of Santorini. 
1. The panoramic views from the lighthouse are breathtaking, offering sweeping vistas of the caldera, the Aegean Sea, and the cliffs of Santorini. 
2. The sunset experience here rivals that of Oia, but with far fewer crowds, making it a more tranquil and intimate spot to watch the day end. 
3. The lighthouse is a historic landmark, representing one of Greece’s oldest and most beautiful lighthouses, with its classic whitewashed design blending harmoniously with the rugged landscape. 
4. The surrounding cliffs and coastline create a dramatic backdrop, perfect for photography and quiet reflection. 
5. The area is easily accessible by car or scooter, and the short walk to the lighthouse offers lovely views along the way. 
Visitor Tip: Plan to spend 30 minutes to 1 hour at the lighthouse, especially during sunset for incredible views and photo opportunities. Bring sturdy shoes if you want to explore the rocky surroundings and stay for the golden hour to capture the lighthouse and caldera bathed in soft light.
