Your first stop is the Museo de los Seris, guided by a local Seri community member who will share stories of resistance, tradition, and the evolution of Comcáac (Seri) identity. Alex and Rocío have been running tours along the U.S.–Mexico borderlands for many years, primarily as a way to share positive, accurate information about the region they call home. Alex’s earliest memory is a family visit to Tijuana—an experience that sparked a lasting fascination with the people and heritage of Mexico. While at university, he focused his studies and research on the Hispanic cultural heritage of the American Southwest and Mexico.

Rocío is a graphic designer who has managed communications projects for a range of institutions, including government agencies and nonprofits in both the U.S. and Mexico. She loves sharing the diversity and richness of the region through visual storytelling.

The Nada Gogo area of Kobe City holds special significance in the sake brewing world. Sake brewing began here nearly 700 years ago, predating the commercial production of sake by three centuries. With its refined knowledge of sake production, Nada Gogo eventually provided 80% of the commercial sake consumed in the old capital of Edo, now Tokyo.

You’ll begin your tour with an elegant lunch in a preserved traditional house before visiting three of Nada Gogo’s outstanding breweries to learn how to appreciate the taste of sake. Your host Eva will give you a deeper understanding of sake culture, visiting an exclusive location to learn how the traditional art of producing sake barrels is being preserved and a museum dedicated to the humble sake cup, whose shapes and materials affect the taste of its content more than you’d expect.


For sake connoisseurs, Nada Gogo represents the pinnacle of sake production, maintaining its world-class standards of delicately flavored sake for centuries. He also names two challenges: First, Lisbon’s historic neighborhoods are deeply distinct—each like its own mini-city. “Lisbon is multidimensional. It cannot—and should not—be rushed.” Second, mass tourism threatens the local character he cherishes. Responsible travel, he says, is essential to preserve the culture.

Elegance: Villa Borghese

The narrow, bustling alleys illuminated by rays of light filtering through makeshift coverings are a common sight in the Medina of Fes, where the blend of shadow and light creates a mysterious and historical ambiance, perfect for exploring on foot. It's an excellent depiction of daily life within the heart of Fes, showcasing the energy and the dense social fabric of this ancient city.

The contrast between the high-heeled boots that seem to be the footwear of choice for young women in wintertime and how Fes is rooted in time is a stark contrast of the past, present, and future that all exist. Marrakech’s medina had felt medieval, but it cannot compare with the proud, faded, crumbling, stately stance of Fes. The architecture is more intricate, the medersas older, the beliefs stauncher, and the passages more secretive.

I step aside just in time as I hear the chant – “Balak, balak” (watch out, watch out) – and a mule laden with fruits saunters past. Mules aren’t officially allowed, says my guide Karima, pointing to a sign at one of the doors of the medina. She’s taken it upon herself to quiz me about Arabic words. What is ‘door’ in Arabic? That’s easy, I say, pointing to the sign at one of the medina entrances, Bab ____ (pronounced not unlike the name ‘Bob’!).

The most memorable sound? Place Seffarine, a square known for its rhythmic orchestra: metal clanging on metal, non-stop throughout the day. Under the protection of a centuries-old tree, talented craftsmen hammer and sculpt copper pots and pans in cacophonous harmony. We sipped mint tea and people-watched, entranced, for a whole hour.

Fes Medina: Bab To Bab

Santa Maria delle Grazie is a treasure trove of Renaissance art and history. This church complex and Dominican convent are globally renowned for housing Leonardo da Vinci's masterpiece, "The Last Supper," within its refectory. Recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1980, it continues to draw global visitors. Key highlights:
1 - The foundation of Santa Maria delle Grazie dates back to 1459, when Count Gaspare Vimercati donated land to the Dominican friars of Sant'Eustorgio. The construction of the convent and church commenced in 1463, under the chief architect Guiniforte Solari. Ludovico Sforza, Duke of Milan, later played a pivotal role in expanding and beautifying the complex, transforming it into a mausoleum for the Sforza family. 
2 - The church features seven chapels dedicated to the Virgin of Graces, adorned with artworks like Antonello da Messina's sculptures and frescoes by Gaudenzio Ferrari. The church's northern side houses the ancient Chapel delle Grazie and the library, while the southern side boasts the refectory with da Vinci's fresco and Montorfano's "The Crucifixion."

Painted between 1495 and 1497, this iconic mural has endured time, including ham-fisted restorations and war damage. The Andalusian Centre of Contemporary Art (CAAC), situated in the historically rich Monastery of Santa Maria de las Cuevas on the Isla de la Cartuja in Seville, is a premier institution for contemporary art in Andalusia. Established in February 1990, the CAAC aims to foster research, conservation, promotion, and dissemination of contemporary art. CAAC: Modern Meets Monastic

The Vasari Corridor, an elevated kilometer-long passageway, is a symbol of the Medici family's influence in Renaissance Florence. Commissioned by Cosimo de' Medici in 1565, this corridor connects the Uffizi Gallery to the Pitti Palace, offering a unique journey through Florence's history, art, and architecture. 1 - Designed by Giorgio Vasari, the corridor was constructed to allow the Medici family to move freely and safely between their residence in Palazzo Pitti and the government headquarters in Palazzo Vecchio. Start your day with an enchanting stroll along the historic Dubrovnik City Walls, spanning 1.2 miles of breathtaking views perfect for photography enthusiasts. To escape the bustling cruise ship crowds, aim to arrive by 7:00 or 7:30 AM, as the walls open at 8:00 AM. Secure your Dubrovnik Pass online beforehand to ensure a smooth experience. The walk typically takes between 45 to 90 minutes, depending on the number of photo stops you make. For a quieter start, begin your journey at the Ploče Gate entrance, allowing you to savor the serene beauty of the cityscape in the soft morning light.

As you traverse the walls, you'll be treated to panoramic views of the Adriatic Sea, terracotta rooftops, and the intricate architecture of Dubrovnik's old town. Each step reveals a new perspective for photography, from the towering Minčeta Tower to the historic Fort Bokar. Don't forget to pause at the various lookout points to capture the essence of this medieval marvel.

Stroll the City Walls

Buenos Aires is one of the southernmost capitals in the world and also an exciting city. Although there are many ways to explore Argentine city life, biking is the most fun.

Biking is free in Buenos Aires, at least for a few hours. Using an app I downloaded to my phone, I spent the next few days biking around the Botanical Gardens, the best museums, art galleries, El Caminito, the riverfront, and the city's largest flea market (on weekends only!). While you’re at it, you can also visit one of the most beautiful cemeteries in the world in Recoleta.

The bike paths are well developed, and if you follow the signs, you'll find the main points quickly. Be careful, helmets are not available. If you want to be on the safe side, rent one in one of the bike rentals.
