This hands-on craft experience is hosted a kintsugi artisan, Satoko, who has been teaching the art and philosophy of this traditional Japanese technique in Kyoto for several years.

The workshop begins with a relaxing tea time, during which you'll be able to get to know your host and learn about her background in kintsugi. From there, you'll learn the history and aesthetics of kintsugi while handling finished pieces created by your host. As you admire the gold-lined cracks, Satoko will walk you through each step of the process and introduce the traditional tools and materials you’ll use — including some that you’ll prepare by hand.

Then, it’s time to practice. You’ll repair a broken ceramic piece using lacquer and real gold powder — that draws the eye to the details. Throughout the session, your hosts offer individual guidance to ensure your piece becomes a personal and beautiful expression of this philosophy.

Set in a private room in a Kyoto restaurant, this experience is completely private for you to enjoy the traditional kintsugi process. Your host has extensive experience as a kintsugi artisan and is a dedicated teacher who has introduced international guests to kintsugi through years of patient, thoughtful instruction.

Satoko Naito spent a formative eight-year period in Europe and speaks French, English, and Japanese. She discovered kintsugi after that, and for a decade since, she has devoted herself to mastering this art of repair. She regards kintsugi as a philosophy — a poetic expression of imperfection and renewal. Today, she is delighted to share it not only as a craft, but as l'art de vivre (the art of living).

Satoko emphasizes traditional kintsugi — using natural urushi lacquer, patient curing times, and deliberate methods rather than shortcuts — to offer students an authentic, slow, and deeply rewarding experience. In this workshop, she ensures you work with thoughtfully prepared materials and receive guidance at every stage. Your finished piece will reflect the beauty and resilience found in restoration.

Italy

This richly atmospheric experience is hosted by Angelo and Pina, known as O Capitano (The Captain) and Perzechella (Little Peach), two well-known figures in Neapolitan street theater and traditional music. It begins with an introduction to the instruments, which you also get to play, followed by a musical walk through narrow alleys.

The route moves through the historic center with songs, rhythm, and spontaneous exchanges along the way, before continuing into Angelo and Pina’s home, a traditional house that opens directly onto the street and remains closely tied to everyday neighborhood life.

There, Pina prepares a homemade Neapolitan lunch with full respect for local traditions. After lunch, the experience continues with a dance session centered on “castegnette”, small percussion instruments deeply rooted in local culture. Classic Neapolitan songs accompany the final part of the gathering, which closes with a traditional Neapolitan coffee ritual.

What gives this experience its particular force is the people behind it. Angelo and Pina are known artistically as O Capitano and Perzechella, their best-known stage characters, and their presence gives the experience a rare intensity.

Their charisma comes from many years in Neapolitan street theater and traditional music, lived as daily practice and public expression. They have also appeared in films and documentaries devoted to street artists, extending the reach of the world they represent.

In the neighborhood, they are widely known, and during the walk, spontaneous exchanges with neighbors become part of the atmosphere. Their home is part of the experience too. Guests are welcomed into a traditional Neapolitan basso, a street-level home with a direct relationship to neighborhood life where, together with their circle of artist friends, they carry forward what they call Neorealist Tourism, rooted in local people, community-driven values, and a clear resistance to gentrification.

The Captain & the Little Peach

You’ll meet Angelo in Largo Girolamo Giusso, a small square on the edge of the busiest tourist streets.

Angelo Picone, known as O Capitano, is a street artist in the historic center of Naples. Pina Andelora, known as Perzechella, is an actress, singer, and Angelo’s partner in life and art. She is also a remarkable cook, welcoming guests into their home with homemade traditional Neapolitan food.

Together, they live inside the world they share. With other artists, they have founded an association dedicated to preserving and carrying forward traditional Neapolitan songs and music. They are well known in the neighborhood, where art, performance, and daily life are not separate things. Their home, a traditional basso, is part of that world too: open to the street, rooted in the quarter, and shaped by a way of life in which music, hospitality, and spontaneous encounter still belong to everyday Naples.

That is why time with them feels very rare. An unfolding scene, full of exchanges, interruptions, laughter, and recognition – in a living cultural world carried by two people who embody it.

Chile

This 6.5-hour, truly exclusive experience intertwines poetry, cuisine, and dialogue in a highly personalized setting in Santiago, Chile. Starting with a sensory journey through the La Vega and Mercado Central food markets, you will procure the freshest ingredients for the grand finale. But before then—a rendezvous at the former address of Chile's most famous denizen of the past. Now a museum, La Chascona was where Nobel Prize-winning poet Pablo Neruda worked magic both as a writer and gourmand.

The main course of the experience is served at the home of your host in Barrio Bellavista, where the morning's haul is transformed into Caldillo de Congrio (conger chowder), accompanied by premium Chilean wines. This aromatic fish soup was the dish Neruda prepared to welcome guests at his private residences in Santiago, Valparaíso, and Isla Negra. In fact, you'll be conjuring Caldillo de Congrio Nerudiano, true to the poet’s take on this time-honored recipe.

Much like Neruda, Julio is a gourmand who delights in feeding family and friends. His experience is curated to take you through every stage of the process—from chatting with a fishmonger who has run her stall for 50 years in Santiago’s oldest fish market to sautéing the oil and layering flavor into the chowder. During the cooking process, Julio will recite Neruda’s Ode to Conger Chowder—a lyrical poem rich in rhythm and emotion that also doubles as a step-by-step guide to preparing the poet’s signature dish.

Beyond the authenticity of speaking with longtime vendors, touring La Chascona with a Neruda expert, and preparing a meal infused with verse, this experience is marked by warmth. As Julio works his magic, you’ll hear how he first discovered a love for cooking while helping his mother in the family kitchen. While sipping coffee brewed in the moka pot he inherited from her, you’ll learn how Julio himself once crossed paths with Chile’s most prolific writer—in this very barrio.

This intimate Ebru experience begins in the heart of Istanbul, leading you into a serene gallery where the art of Turkish marbling, or Ebru, comes alive. Rooted in Central Asia and cherished through centuries in the Ottoman Empire, Ebru has adorned everything from manuscripts to textiles, with each swirling pattern carrying stories of cultural heritage and symbolism. 

Guided by a master artist, you’ll first delve into the historical, cultural and spiritual depth behind Ebru’s fluid designs, then experience a live demonstration of foundational techniques. You'll learn how to hold the brush, apply vibrant natural pigments, and guide the floating colors into intricate shapes like "battal" (stone pattern) or "nightingale's nest." As the pigments dance on water, you’ll gain insight into the meanings woven into each pattern. With hands-on guidance, you’ll create two marbled paper designs to take home—a lasting piece of Turkish art and culture, made by you.

What makes this experience truly special is the host Nesime, a master artist who has been practicing Ebru for over a decade. You’ll be welcomed into her private gallery. She will guide you through the technical foundations—holding special brushes, applying pigments, using the “tekne” (water tray), and shaping intricate patterns—explaining the symbolism of each design. You’ll learn how Ebru uses natural pigments that float on a thickened liquid, allowing for a unique interplay of color and texture. You’ll begin at Sant Antoni Market, a hub of local produce and diverse culinary offerings, notable for its unique creation from the merger of three markets. Here, you'll encounter an array of local products and the warm hospitality of the vendors. Next, you’ll visit the world-renowned La Boquería, near La Rambla, famous for its exotic fruits, freshly cured meats, and seafood display. You’ll continue to Santa Caterina Market in the historic El Born neighborhood, celebrated for being the city's first covered market and built on the ancient ruins of the Santa Caterina monastery. He also names two challenges: First, Lisbon’s historic neighborhoods are deeply distinct—each like its own mini-city. “Lisbon is multidimensional.
