Morocco

This is a moderately challenging private trek to the revered Muslim shrine of Sidi Chamarouch, starting from Imlil. This trek takes you through the traditional village of Aremd and ascends to 2350m (7710ft) at Sidi Chamarouch, positioned by a picturesque waterfall. 

While the shrine itself is not accessible to non-Muslims, the area around it offers a peaceful reflective spot for a picnic and stunning views across the Atlas Mountains and up towards the summit of Toubkal. Overall, the Sidi Chamarouch trek offers a profound glimpse into the Amazigh (Berber) spirituality, providing visitors with a deeper understanding of the region’s cultural tapestry.  

On this trek, you'll follow the same scenic route both to and from Sidi Chamarouch as it's part of the trail leading to the Toubkal Summit. This trek offers a serene yet adventurous journey to the Sidi Chamarouch shrine, a site of deep spiritual and cultural significance in the High Atlas Mountains. Known as the King of Jinns, this pre-Islamic marabout shrine is revered in local legend and spirituality, located near Imlil under the gaze of Mount Toubkal.

Italy

This experience invites you to read Herculaneum as a city caught mid-life by the AD 79 eruption of Vesuvius. You follow basalt streets, pause at corner fountains, and look into shops where stone counters still hold recessed jars. Wood endured here as charcoal—doors, beams, even furniture outlines—so kitchens, stairways, and upper floors remain readable. Worn thresholds and bakeries with mills and ovens make daily habits visible, while pyroclastic surges and mud sealed what they touched.

You'll trace the ancient shoreline, now inland, including the vaulted boat sheds (known as the fornici), the site’s starkest memory, the place where people sought refuge in a last desperate attempt to escape. Nearby, the Baths show pools, mosaics, changing rooms, and underfloor heating. You'll also discover the House of Neptune and Amphitrite with its mosaic, the College of the Augustales with painted panels, and the House of the Wooden Partition with its sliding screen.

Michele’s storytelling is what sets this experience apart, as he builds a living scene from traces that still speak—soot on ceilings, worn thresholds, a partition in charcoal. You’ll visit Giōji Temple, a quiet sanctuary tied to the Heike Monogatari, where a once-famous dancer became a nun. The moss garden and bamboo groves here feel like a story being slowly told.

From there, you walk through the preserved district of Saga Toriimoto, where Meiji-era townhouses now hold small family-run craft shops. David will then weave you past pastel-hued mansions from the 19th century and neighborhood bakeries, sharing photography tips and anecdotes.

A leisurely gander brings you to Paseo 21 de Mayo—one of Valparaíso's most enthralling viewpoints. It's wise to carry cash should you wish to purchase a souvenir from the street vendors who you'll liaise with through Daniel. The route then passes through narrow streets adorned with murals and "playful" photo spots where you have a choice of sampling a completo (Chilean hot dog) or empanada and an ice cream with humble origins and a curious legacy. The experience ends at the oldest mansion on Cerro Artillería—a photographic treasure trove—where you may opt to stick around for lunch or a Pisco Sour.

He works with a Canon DSLR, using 50mm and 18-55mm lenses for regular shots and a 300mm lens to capture distant subjects with clarity and depth.

Spain

The great American novelist and journalist Ernest Hemingway spent some of the best days and nights of his life in Madrid. Starting as a young aficionado of the bullfights, he returned as a foreign correspondent for dangerous reporting assignments during the Spanish Civil War, and later shared drinks around town with visiting Hollywood stars of the 1950s. Much of his best fiction was based on these experiences in Madrid and across Spain.

This tour brings Hemingway’s Madrid to life. You will visit some of his favorite Madrid spots, hear stories from his life and times, and hit all the places the man himself would have taken us to.

These include classic beer halls, elegant hotel lounges, cave-like basement bars, and the world’s oldest surviving restaurant. Many of these places were immortalized in his books, and most have barely changed since the author ate, drank, and wrote within their walls.

As a professional writer and a member of the prestigious El Ateneo literary society, your host has lived and breathed Madrid for over a decade. His work on the city’s culture and history includes published essays on Hemingway’s unique relationship with Madrid, making him perfectly placed to bring rich historical color and context to the author’s world here a century ago. This itinerary reflects what Manila calls the “true essence of Catalonia” — a place of cultural pride, natural beauty, and distinct local identity. Manila first arrived in Barcelona more than two decades ago, while finishing her studies in Rome. She needed an internship for her thesis and chose Barcelona without expecting how quickly she’d feel at home.“Barcelona, 22 years ago, was a different place,” she says. “It was less cosmopolitan, more local. I remember wandering through narrow streets and finding tiny bars with real flamenco. It felt genuinely lived in.”
 “Tourism has definitely changed things,” she admits. “Places like La Rambla are overcrowded. Many locals have been pushed out by the rise in tourist rentals. But Catalans are proud of their traditions. They’ve started resisting these changes to preserve the city’s character.” That character is what Manila has grown to love. “I chose Barcelona because I felt an immediate connection. The Mediterranean lifestyle, the weather, the proximity to mountains and sea — it feels like home but also stretches me outside my comfort zone.” She relishes the contrast to her native Sicily. “I can take a train and be skiing in the Pyrenees in just over an hour. Where else do you get that?”
What keeps her in Barcelona is the balance of tradition and openness. “The cuisine, the olive groves, the vineyards — they remind me of southern Italy, but they’re uniquely Catalan.” And the city’s connectivity has made it easy to stay rooted while maintaining close ties to Italy. She speaks with admiration about the people: “Catalans are proud, resilient, and united. They have a strong sense of identity and community. Whether through demonstrations or cultural festivals, they come together. They’re efficient and organized, but also keep that relaxed Mediterranean vibe. It’s a unique combination.”
