You’ll begin with lunch at a local restaurant/cafe, chosen for its connection to the neighborhood. Then take a slow walk through the area: passing family-run stores, neighborhood shrines, and traditional homes. Your guide will introduce you to  daily life here, and how this district became a living archive of pre-war Tokyo — not through preservation but continuity.

Now you're in the Taisho / Eatly Showa period. Yanaka offers a rare sense of what the city looked and felt like before the skyline rose. On this exclusive deep dive into the connections between Zen Buddhism and the tea ceremony, Zen art history expert Eric Luong takes you to the Jotenkaku Museum, part of Shokoku-ji Temple, to explore its collection. Eric will give you a curated tour of the museum’s vast cultural treasures created by Zen priests and followers.

After gaining an understanding of Zen Buddhism through its artwork, you’ll move to a 100-year-old machiya townhouse to take part in an exclusive private tea ceremony that demonstrates the concepts you explored at the museum. Mexico

This is an uncommon dawn capsule in Xochimilco — paddle-driven and nature-focused — you’re back in the city before the canals get busy. Private pickup from your accommodation in Mexico City gets you to the World Heritage wetlands in time for sunrise. 

You board a cayuco — a native, paddle-driven canoe — for a two-hour canoeing adventure through ancestral canals and the man-made farm islands known as chinampas, in use for over a thousand years. Along the way you’ll take in seasonal flora and fauna — marigolds and water lilies on the surface, wading and water birds such as herons, and native aquatic life like charal and frogs.

Bilbao History 101

The Bay of Biscay is famous for its beautiful coastline, beaches, and food. At Mundaka you'll stop off for a panaromic view, which changes dramatically between low tide and high tide. You'll then be taken to the historic town of Bermeo for a walking tour.

Heading inland you'll find two examples of Basque artistry. Santimamiñe is a cave that contains Paleolithic paintings and engravings dating back 14,000. These depictions of bison, horses, and deer give us a glimpse into a prehistoric world. This cave is only accessible April-October. Meanwhile, nearby, in the Bosque de Oma you'll find pine tress painted by Basque artist Agustín Ibarrola in the 1980s.  The geometric shapes, eyes, animals, and colorful forms you'll find here change depending on where you're standing, playing with your perspective in the forest.

This journey captures the essence of the Basque Coast in a way that blends scenery, culture, and cuisine. Mundaka is legendary for being home to one of the longest left-hand breaks in the world, making it a pilgrimage site for wave-riders. Before being taken back to Bilbao, you'll go to San Juan de Gaztelugatxe, an islet connected to the mainland by a man-made bridge, home to a 10th century hermitage. San Juan de Gaztelugatxe was made famous thanks to its use as a location for the Season 8 of Games of Thrones.

Colorful, intricate, thought-provoking, and a clever mix of hip hop and political slant.

Street Art and Poetry

Rising majestically above Athens, Mount Lycabettus offers one of the most stunning panoramic views of the city, stretching to the Aegean Sea. At 277 meters (908 feet) above sea level, it’s the highest point in Athens, making it a prime spot for breathtaking sunsets and unforgettable vistas of landmarks like the Acropolis, the Panathenaic Stadium, and the Temple of Olympian Zeus. Steeped in legend, the hill is said to have been created by Athena herself. 
1. The summit provides sweeping views of Athens and beyond, especially magical at sunset or night when the city lights sparkle. 
2. At the peak, a small, whitewashed chapel called the Chapel of St. George adds to the charm of the hill. It’s a serene spot for reflection and a great photo opportunity.

5. Visitors can hike up the winding trails for a more adventurous approach or take the cable car from Kolonaki for a comfortable ascent.

Mount Lycabettus

What does the southern end of the world look like? After five and a half l-o-n-g hours from Punta Arenas, out of the blue appears Hotel Explora Salto Chico - and it’s breathtaking. With a stunning, modern countenance, views-to-die-for of Torres del Paine (the Towers) and Cuernos del Paine (the Horns), and the sound of the Salto Chico waterfall as we linger over amazing food and excellent Chilean wine.

The Explora guides ensure they get us out of bed. My favorite experience - a day-long hike to Grey glacier. And when we get really close, our guides hop into a little boat to fetch thousand-year-old ice from the glacier for little drinks of Pisco Sour! 

Patagonia’s Parc Nacional Torres del Paine has picture postcard views everywhere. If you are a keen hiker, try the Circuit or the W. I stick to day hikes as a rule - if you are like me, try Grey Glacier, French Valley Glacier or Base of the Paine Towers.

Going to Extremes

Piazza del Campidoglio, is a marvel of Renaissance design by Michelangelo. It is a UNESCO World Heritage site, celebrated for its harmonious symmetry and the significant historical buildings that surround it. The square offers a view into Rome's rich past through its stunning architecture and the iconic statues that adorn the space. Here are some reasons to visit:

1: Journey through Renaissance Rome: Start your exploration at this iconic piazza, which is designed to impress from the moment you step onto its geometrically designed cobblestones. The surrounding palaces and the central equestrian statue of Marcus Aurelius provide a grand sense of history.

Avanos Town

The Andalusian Centre of Contemporary Art (CAAC), situated in the historically rich Monastery of Santa Maria de las Cuevas on the Isla de la Cartuja in Seville, is a premier institution for contemporary art in Andalusia. Established in February 1990, the CAAC aims to foster research, conservation, promotion, and dissemination of contemporary art. The transformation of the former Carthusian monastery into the CAAC's headquarters in 1997 marked a significant development in its mission, blending the rich heritage of the site with the dynamism of contemporary artistic expressions​​. CAAC: Modern Meets Monastic

The Torre del Oro (Tower of Gold) is one of Seville’s most iconic landmarks, situated along the banks of the Guadalquivir River. This 13th-century dodecagonal tower was originally built by the Almohads as a military watchtower and was later used to control access to the river. Its name, “Tower of Gold,” is believed to stem from the golden gleam it once reflected off the river or possibly from the gold brought from the New World that was stored in its vaults. Today, the Torre del Oro is a maritime museum, offering visitors a glimpse into Seville's rich naval history.
 Highlights of Torre del Oro:

1. Panoramic Views: Climb to the top of the tower for stunning 360-degree views of Seville’s skyline, including landmarks like the Giralda and the cathedral. The vantage point also offers a unique perspective of the Guadalquivir River.
