The Nahua are one of the most prominent and impactful indigenous groups in Mesoamerica. Nahua culture is diverse, stretching across civilizations such as the Mexica (Aztecs) and Tlaxcalteca, among others.

To explore this heritage, we’ll begin at the Cuicuilco archaeological site, a thriving city between 350 and 150 CE before it was engulfed by lava from the Xitle volcano. Here, you’ll gain an understanding of Mexica archaeology and culture.

Moving downtown, you’ll dive into an introductory Náhuatl language class. This will also give you an opportunity to learn more about the Nahua people's ritual calendars, deities, and how these cultural elements supported the functioning of one of the most fascinating ancient civilizations during its peak between 1345 and 1521.

This experience offers an authentic connection to ancient Mesoamerican cultures through two immersive cycles. At Cuicuilco, one of Mexico’s earliest urban centers, travelers will walk through history, exploring its ruins while uncovering the dramatic impact of the Xitle volcano’s eruption—a pivotal event that reshaped the region’s civilization.

The Náhuatl language and culture workshop provides a rare opportunity to engage with the living legacy of the Mexica (Aztec) civilization. The Tlacuilocan School of Náhuatl is a language and culture dissemination project headed by Mexican linguist Octavio Alonso González. It is dedicated to the conservation and promotion of Nahua heritage. Its staff is excited to welcome travelers who want to be part of this wonderful experience.

This is a photo walk to watch the sunset over the sea, while birds fly over the cliffs. The easy path winds along the coast to a panoramic viewpoint offering a stunning view of the Capo Nieddu waterfall—the only one in Sardinia that flows directly into the sea. As the sun sets, you'll see the landscape transform: golden light paints the cliffs and the sea. An expert photographer will offer advice on how to capture the beauty of nature through your lens.

In a slow-paced walk, you can enjoy the view without rushing, taking breaks to contemplate the sea and the majestic waterfall. You’ll savor a picnic featuring traditional Sardinian products, including carasau bread, local cheeses, cured meats, and a glass of Cannonau wine.

When the sun disappears on the horizon, leaving the sky ablaze with orange and pink hues, the magical blue hour begins. You'll pause for a meditative moment, listening to the sound of water and wind, before returning to the starting point under the starry sky.

During the rainy season (January to April), the Capo Nieddu waterfall plunges directly into the sea 40 meters down a steep cliff, creating a breathtaking spectacle. Standing on the cliff in a wild landscape, you'll feel connected to nature as the wind dances between the rocks—a truly mesmerizing experience.

Massimiliano will lead you to the lesser-known viewpoints, turning the walk into an exciting adventure. As an expert photographer, he will share techniques and angles to help you capture extraordinary shots.

You will enjoy a picnic featuring crunchy carasau bread, local cheeses, cured meats, and a glass of Cannonau red wine, while waiting for the blue hour to photograph the sunset, before heading back under a starlit sky.

You'll meet Kalliopi at Kerameikos Metro Station, Exit Gazi

Kalliopi and Thomas are a dynamic duo passionate about Athens, art, and urban exploration. Raised in opposite suburbs, fate brought them together, and now they call the historic district of Kerameikos home. Their journey into street art and creative expression started years ago and has flourished, especially since moving to downtown Athens.

They actively promote and support local artists, organize street art festivals, and have curated urban transformations by selecting artists and murals for key city spaces. Recently, they opened a creative hub to host events dedicated to art, fostering a vibrant community of creators.

Argentina

Saddle up for a 1.5-hour horseback trek in the Andes Mountains, carefully timed to coincide with sunset. As the last of the light fades, you will return to the gaucho estate to continue the evening, socializing with the family over a traditional Argentine asado (barbecue) featuring roasted vegetables, salads, fresh bread, and local Mendocinian wine. After dinner, gather around the bonfire with a glass of wine and enjoy a brief folk guitar session—a traditional gaucho touch that brings the night to life under a sky heavy with stars.

This experience includes pickup and return to your hotel in the city of Mendoza. Upon arrival at the mountain ranch, you’ll get acquainted with your horse and receive a brief safety lesson—novices through to experienced riders are accommodated. Your bilingual gaucho guide will lead the way into the mountains at a leisurely pace, stopping to savor the wild landscapes and capture photos along the way.

Not only does this experience provide the thrill of riding a horse through the world's longest mountain range, but it also immerses you in gaucho culture from start to finish. Before embarking on the trek, you will bond with your steed and learn about the unique connection between gaucho and horse. The route traverses an area of raw natural beauty, untouched by modern developments and illuminated by stars instead of city lights. Seeing these remote valleys bathed in the soft glow of the setting sun is the icing on the cake.

Upon returning to the estate, you’ll settle by the fireside with a glass of Mendocinian wine. The asado will then commence, inviting you to taste Argentine beef, seasonal vegetables, and freshly baked bread while conversing with Diego and Lucía and hearing stories of the gaucho way of life and Criolla customs. Rather than feeling like a spectator, you’ll be welcomed into the family and experience the spirit of the gauchos firsthand.

Diego personally leads most horseback treks, though he occasionally entrusts one of his trusted gaucho colleagues to guide guests. Both Diego and Lucía are always present at the ranch, taking great care to offer an authentic experience that fully immerses travelers in gaucho life—whether riding across remote valleys or gathering around a fireside asado to savor grilled meats, local wines, and heartfelt conversation.

Meet Pierre in the heart of Bordeaux in his studio next to Saint Michel church. Over coffee or tea paired with chocolatines and croissants, Pierre will share stories from his daily life and explain how his studio fits into this historic and lively area.

You’ll explore the origins of photography and learn about wet plate collodion—a 19th-century technique that uses glass or metal plates, chemical baths, and a large format camera. Pierre will demonstrate each step while coating, sensitizing, exposing, and developing images.

Watching your portrait come to life is a striking visual moment: deep contrasts, delicate textures, and a vintage feel that’s hard to find elsewhere. While your image slowly appears, Pierre shares family stories and his personal view of Bordeaux and photography. If the light conditions are good, you can choose to shoot outdoors and include a glimpse of the city in your portrait.



The uniqueness of this experience lies in the physicality of the process and the one-of-a-kind result. Wet plate collodion photography doesn’t aim to imitate the past—it uses an early technique to craft images that are singular, dense, and deeply present. Each portrait is shaped by light and chemistry, with a richness of tones and details that can’t be replicated.

Pierre Wetzel has spent years refining this 19th-century process, working entirely with a large-format camera and mastering the subtle balance of materials and timing. His approach transforms a technical procedure into a moment of artistic exchange, revealing the tension between chance and control that defines the collodion process.

Before and during the session, talking with Pierre, who greets you like friends, offers a window into local creative life and the expertise of an artist deeply rooted in the city and its oldest neighborhood.

Fixing Time in Saint-Michel

A collodion portrait on an aluminum plate (13×18 cm) to take home, signed by Pierre and packaged in a cardboard box. Each participant will receive their own portrait image. Groups/couples may also have a group photo.

You can wear something special such as a scarf or hat - or bring a prop relating to your work or interest to add texture to the portrait and make the experience more special.

You’ll meet Pierre at his studio, Maison Spectre, located at 29–31 Rue des Faures.

Note: A narrow staircase, not suitable for people with mobility issues, leads to the dark room in the cellar. You can still book the experience, but you won’t be able to see the developing process.

Your adventure begins with a scenic drive from central Cappadocia to the Hürmetçi Marshes timed perfectly to catch the sunset. As you traverse the land, you’ll encounter over 100 wild horses galloping across the open plains, kicking up clouds of dust, and bathing in golden light—a spectacle against the backdrop of volcanic formations and ancient cave dwellings. Before or after the session, you’ll stop for a hearty, local meal in the nearest village. This itinerary is catered for professional photographers looking for rare shots and amateurs eager to enrich their portfolios under the expert guidance of a seasoned local photographer.

Bring your camera equipment, including lenses suitable for wildlife photography (telephoto recommended), spare batteries, and memory cards. You will be standing up for a while so be sure to bring warm layers in winter. A tripod for stable shots is also recommended. Get a scarf to protect against the dust in the plains.

You'll delve into its 18th, 19th and early 20th century bourgeois ambiance, following the rebuilding of Lisbon after its destruction in the tragic earthquake of 1755. During this period, Lisbon came to be designed as the home of the bureaucrat, the merchant, and the middle-class, and later, the financial elite. Some of the iconic squares, architectural landmarks, historic old-world shops, and restaurants from this period remain, to be rediscovered by you with the guidance of Tiago Neiva. "Where Time Has Paused" captures the essence of exploring historic neighborhoods with several hidden gems, shops and boutiques where the ambiance and charm of past eras are still very much alive. Lisbon is easily accessible from the airport, cruise terminal, and train stations, with the historic center reachable by walking or using public transport, taxis, or Uber.

Old Lisbon, the capital of Portugal is older than Rome by 400 years, which makes it the second oldest capital in Europe, after Athens. Both physical and cultural artifacts of its history remain intact. This experience offers a deep dive into Lisbon's architectural and gastronomic heritage, narrated by Tiago Neiva, who brings a local's insight and passion to the tour. This square represents the ideals of the iluminism and the absolutist monarchy, with the riding horse king's statue, the Triumphal Arch and columnated lateral galleries. Carmo Square is the place where Carnation Revolution had it's peak on 24th April 1974, putting an end of Fascist Government and the beginning of Democracy.  The Square hosts an impressive half destroyed 14th century Gothic Church and the  Elevator of Santa Justa, an early 20th-century structure resembling Eiffel's work. Closeby, we will have a lunch at Trindade, a freemason inspired tiled restaurant, once a brewery and before, a convent. 

The elevator offers a splendid panoramic view of Lisbon, and it's a testament to Lisbon's architectural evolution and ingenuity. The surrounding area is famous for its restoration and buildings with architectural and historical significance.

When asked about his love for Lisbon, Tiago’s enthusiasm is immediate: “I love my city! I really love the historic center of Lisbon!” Though he didn’t always feel that way. Growing up on the city’s outskirts, it wasn’t until returning after time abroad that he saw it anew. “It was as a young and independent adult with an arts and architecture degree, and with the enthusiasm to explore — that I realized how beautiful, diverse, and interesting my city is.”
For Tiago, connecting with a culture means full immersion. “You have to experience it with open eyes, heart, and mind,” he says. That means talking to locals, walking unfamiliar routes, listening more than looking. “Lisbon isn’t just to be seen, but touched, smelled, and tasted.” It’s not a checklist—it’s a presence.
He also names two challenges: First, Lisbon’s historic neighborhoods are deeply distinct—each like its own mini-city. “Lisbon is multidimensional. It cannot—and should not—be rushed.” Second, mass tourism threatens the local character he cherishes. Responsible travel, he says, is essential to preserve the culture.
As tourism evolves, Tiago points toward Lisbon’s under-known strengths. “Gastronomy, street art, tiles, contemporary architecture… there’s so much more to discover!”

DAY 1 – CLAY, FLOATING, AND STARS | The journey begins gently in the Salt Mountain Range, where you’ll be welcomed into the adobe studio of a local ceramic artist. Using a clay unique to the region, shaped by ancestral Licarantai traditions, you’ll create your own piece while learning how reverence for Pachamama lives on through craft. In the afternoon, take time on your own to visit nearby Laguna Cejar — a salt-rich lagoon where the water suspends you weightlessly in its mineral grip.
DAY 2 – FLAMINGOS AND THE ALTIPLANO | Wake early to head deep into the Chilean altiplano. This is a day of altitude and scale, where pastel lagoons stretch beneath volcanoes and flamingos lift off from mirror-still water. As you travel across remote salt flats and highland valleys, your guide helps shape the light into story through photography. There’s time to pause, to breathe thinner air, to notice shadow and color shift by the hour. After returning to town, the evening invites rest and reflection after a day spent far above sea level.
DAY 3 – GEYSERS AND WATERS | Before sunrise, set out north toward El Tatio, where steam rises from the earth in silence. As the first light filters across the geysers, capture the raw power of fire meeting water at 4,000 meters. Descend slowly through villages and wetlands, where llamas and flamingos move between grasses and mineral pools. The day ends in thermal springs tucked inside a desert canyon. Tünektepe Cable Car

Jamaica

Jake’s is a Jamaican treasure. In fact, where it’s located is actually called Treasure Beach. 

Getting there from Montego Bay Airport takes a full two and a half hours on rough country roads - more than three if you stop at the jerk chicken place as we did. We stayed in a colorful bohemian cottage on the sea and tasted our first Ackee and Codfish - Jamaica’s breakfast dish - here. 

The evenings are for crooning to live music - reggae or calypso — before falling asleep to the sound of the waves breaking on the rocks literally at your feet.

Whether you're looking to relax, take a leisurely stroll, or capture stunning nature photography, Jnan Sbil Gardens provides a refreshing escape.

Jnan Sbil Gardens

1942: Errol Flynn popularised rafting down the river Rio Grande in Jamaica on bamboo rafts, made of long logs bound together. Fast forward: I'm on a raft for a 3-hour ride and sensory overload: ferns, birds, rapids, butterflies, serenading raft captain. But here’s my favorite part —

After an hour on the river, we dock at Belinda’s Riverside Restaurant, a rustic gem nestled by the Rio Grande. How does this place even exist in the middle of nowhere? Turns out Belinda and team hike a couple of hours across the hills, ingredients in tow, to set up shop each time, serving up Jamaican-style curry goat and fish (take your pick: fried, steamed, or escoveitched). Prepared with love and served alongside rice or bammy. One of my best meals in Jamaica. Call ahead to make sure Belinda’s is open on the day you visit.

Castro Marim Castle is a medieval fortress, perched atop a hill in Castro Marim, that offers panoramic views from the traditional salt flats of Portugal to the Spanish border, embodying centuries of historical evolution from Roman times through the Age of Discovery. Discover the allure of this strategic stronghold. Top highlights:
1. The castle's architecture is a blend of military strength and historical artistry. You are greeted by formidable walls and towers that narrate tales of Moorish origins and strategic expansions under King Afonso III.
2: The castle once served as the headquarters for the Order of Christ, successors of the Knights Templar, marking it as a pivotal site in Portugal's nautical advancements and the preparatory ground for the Age of Discovery. This historical significance makes the castle a must-visit for those interested in the Templar's legacy and Portugal's exploratory achievements.
3: A stroll along the castle walls offers breathtaking views over the River Guadiana, the salt pans, and across to Spain. This vantage point provides a strategic overview, as it did in medieval times, but also a chance to appreciate the natural and serene landscape that surrounds Castro Marim.
4: For a vivid leap back in time, plan your visit during the Medieval Days in Castro Marim, usually held in August. The festival transforms the town and castle into a lively medieval fair, complete with costumes, traditional crafts, and performances. 
Beyond the castle walls, the town of Castro Marim is rich in history and local crafts, such as artisanal salt production and traditional lace making. The nearby Reserva do Sapal nature reserve offers a peaceful retreat with its unique ecosystem, home to a variety of bird species. The castle is maintained in a relatively untouched state, with limited informational signage. A small entry fee is required, offering access to explore at your leisure. 

Castro Marin Castle

The Benaki Museum in Athens is a treasure trove of Greek history and art, offering a fascinating journey through the country’s rich cultural heritage. Founded in 1930 by Antonis Benakis, it is one of Greece’s most prominent museums, showcasing a diverse collection that spans from prehistoric times to the modern era. Housed in an elegant neoclassical mansion in central Athens, the museum provides a captivating blend of artifacts, paintings, and historical items, making it a must-visit destination for history and art enthusiasts. 
1. The museum’s collection features over 40,000 artifacts, including ancient pottery, Byzantine icons, and traditional Greek costumes, offering a comprehensive look at Greek culture through the ages. 
2. The Byzantine and Post-Byzantine Art section highlights the artistic achievements of the Byzantine Empire, with intricately crafted icons, mosaics, and religious manuscripts. 
3. The Neoclassical Mansion, where the museum is housed, is an architectural masterpiece in its own right, combining elegance with a welcoming atmosphere. 
4. Rotating temporary exhibitions bring fresh perspectives, often focusing on contemporary art, photography, or specific historical themes.
