1 -  As the focal point of the Accademia, Michelangelo’s David is a representation of strength, beauty, and human achievement. Created from a single block of marble, this masterpiece symbolizes the Renaissance ideals of humanism and is renowned for its anatomical precision and the portrayal of David before his battle with Goliath.

2 - The Hall of Prisoners features unfinished works by Michelangelo, known as "Prisoners" or "Slaves". These sculptures were intended for the tomb of Pope Julius II but were never completed. Located in the heart of Venice, St. Mark’s Cathedral, also known as Basilica di San Marco, is a masterpiece of Byzantine architecture and one of the most iconic landmarks in Italy. This magnificent cathedral, originally built in the 9th century and later reconstructed, serves as a stunning example of Venice's rich history and its connections with the Byzantine Empire.

1 - Golden Mosaics and Opulent Interior: Once inside, visitors are greeted by the breathtaking golden mosaics that cover over 8,000 square meters of the cathedral’s interior. These mosaics, depicting biblical stories and various saints, are made from millions of tiny glass tiles and create a luminous effect, especially when the sun shines through the windows. In Marrakech, explore the labyrinth of the medina, lined with market stalls and craftspeople, and full of secret places and contradictions. 

Anonymous, windowless, fortress-like walls enclose luxurious riads built around tiled courtyards, complete with fountains and gardens.

Happily, my wonderful guide Khadija of Morocco Private Experience, encourages my curiosity. She leads the way across the medieval labyrinth of chaotic alleyways - to the souks where centuries-old skills continue to flourish. 

I am intrigued about how all the craftspeople are clustered together by trade. We watch a metal craftsman shape a pair of gnawa cymbals. A leatherworker allows me inside his workshop for a better view. There is an entire street of ornate lantern sellers - the bronze-latticed lanterns competing with the palm-leafed roofs of the souks in throwing light-and-shadow patterns all around.
