As we stroll along, we will have the opportunity to pass by the picturesque Convento dos Cardaes. Our next stop will be Rua Portiais de São Bento, a vibrant street teeming with charming local shops and a bustling atmosphere of creative energy, making it a true melting pot of artistic expression. While navigating this narrow street, we'll have the perfect opportunity to capture stunning photos of the iconic Tram 28. Following that, we will visit the Green Street in Santos. Your experience begins with 60 minutes of exclusive access to the Piano Nobile of a Venetian palace—an ornate, historic space once reserved for nobility. Carnevale in Ottana, Sardinia (February 15 and 17, 2026) offers a captivating journey into the town's rich traditions and cultural heritage. Massimiliano is a professional photographer, artist, and tour guide. After graduating at University Paris 8 in Photography, he began working as a photojournalist and lived in Tuscany and Paris before moving to Sardinia in 2011 with Eva, and co-founding Ora Blu Lab, to offer experiences connecting people with Sardinia's beauty by blending art, nature, and authentic Sardinian life, characterized by community bonds and genuine hospitality.

Mexico

A short guided hike of roughly two hours will take you to a series of caves featuring rustic paintings and traces of human habitation dating back over 10,000 years. They depict the early domestication period of the Zapotec people, when their ancestors first settled here as hunter-gatherers. These caverns are part of a larger network of over 200 caves in Yagul, where the earliest remnants of domesticated corn—a tiny and now obsolete variety known as teocintle—were discovered. This entire area was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2010.

As these caves are protected and the town operates under Indigenous law, it’s required that we travel with a local guide provided by the pueblo’s government office.

After the hike, we’ll continue the corn theme with lunch at a local restaurant, sampling one of the most iconic corn-based dishes in Oaxaca: the tlayuda. We’ll share a variety of styles, along with a refreshing non-alcoholic agua fresca.

This hike is a chance to appreciate the splendor of the Oaxacan countryside and gain insight into the earliest Zapotec people who settled in this land. Your host, a long-time Oaxaca resident with strong connections to this community, will arrange the hike with a guide from the local government office to ensure the experience complies with Indigenous law for this protected area. Participants can specify whether they would like the tour in English or Spanish. This offers unmatched insight into the history and ecology of the region.

You’ll then explore the magic of corn firsthand by trying one of Oaxaca’s most iconic delicacies—the tlayuda. Your host will transport you from the hike to one of the best venues near the city to enjoy this celebrated dish, then return you to your original meeting point once the meal is done. Please advise in advance if you're vegetarian, and special arrangements can be made.

Hike Through Corn's Origins

This experience accommodates a minimum of 2 and maximum of 4 people. What’s Included: A guided medium-level hike with a tour of the caves and their paintings, along with full context about the culture, sites and surrounding region. Includes a set meal with non-alcoholic refreshments, plus round-trip transport from the meeting point in Colonia Reforma.

We recommend wearing sturdy, comfortable shoes. Flip-flops and sandals are not advised to avoid potential injury. Due to the sun, we also suggest bringing a hat, a shirt with sleeves, sunscreen, water, sunglasses, and your camera or phone if you'd like to take photos. You may also want to bring some cash in pesos in case you wish to purchase anything beyond the included meal and drinks.

Pick up and drop off will be at the front of the Italian Coffee Company at Lic Manuel Ruiz 300A, Reforma, 68050, Oaxaca de Juarez, Oaxaca, Mexico. Your host will be there waiting for you 15 minutes before the departure time to enable a prompt departure at the time stated on the booking. The transit time to and from the destination is included in the duration shown on the experience listing.

Ehren Seeland is a Oaxaca-based creative with a background in art and design and journalism, who travels the globe for professional and personal pursuits. A long-term resident of Oaxaca with family ties to the city, her passion for regional produce, traditional skills, and social impact makes her a fantastic host for the culturally curious and socially minded traveler.

The Japanese art of visible mending is sashiko, a technique that combines the Japanese aesthetic of wabi sabi with the always en vogue concept of sustainable practices. In her charming studio among the winding streets of a western Tokyo neighborhood, your host Keiko has been practicing sashiko and teaching students from all over the world the techniques used to make beautiful patchwork on clothing and other textiles.

Nothing prepares you for the disorientation - and wonderment - of the brilliance of a midnight Sun. Especially when surrounded by massive icebergs that reflect and mirror the sky and the sea.

I don't remember seeing this yesterday, I tell the boat captain, is this a new work of art? He laughs, and tells me that everyday is  a bit different. 

The midnight boat trip in end-July - as the sun sets just for a few minutes - is the best time to see the sky’s amazing colors reflected on the icebergs.

Smoke spewing volcano 🌋 that one can climb, tree blanketed mountains, pastel buildings, cobbled streets and quintessential garden courtyards with fountains give picture postcard views on every corner we turn.

The town Is made for walking with stone arches In bold colors, baroque architecture, churches from Spain and vibrant markets bursting with colorful woven garments like ponchos, hats & table cloth and handicrafts.

It’s the birthplace of chocolate 🍫 and there are several museums that teach how the Mayans made ‘the food of the gods’. Adjoining chocolate cafes serve decadent treats and chocolate liqueur.

The coffee ☕️ is divine too and apart from sampling the local shops, we visited a local plantation to learn about coffee making.

Antigua is one of our favorite Central American cities.

Colorful Markets

Nestled along the Kızılırmak River, Avanos is a charming town known for its long history of pottery-making and vibrant local culture.

At the close of the turtle hatching season, in January this year, when only a handful of nests remained, we assisted Mel Tennant, fondly known as The Turtle Man, in releasing 54 newly hatched Hawkbill Turtles into the ocean.

The turtle hatchlings — incredibly — found the ocean on their own, with no help or nudging from us. How do they know where to go and how to swim right after they are hatched? Well, they do. Sea turtles are born with the instinct to move toward the brightest direction.

The Oracabessa Bay Sea Turtle Project, under Mel’s extraordinary leadership, provides incubation support and the safe release of these endangered creatures.

Discover the Torre de Belém, an iconic symbol of Lisbon's maritime history and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. In the heart of Cádiz, Spain, you find Cádiz Cathedral, a splendid fusion of Baroque, Rococo, and Neoclassical designs. Catedral de la Santa Cruz

Australia

Kakadu National Park is half the size of Switzerland and a real adventure. If you rent a car, you could drive along the road for weeks, camping in different places and experiencing nature in a way you can't anywhere else.

After leaving Darwin in a rented 4x4 jeep, we made the long drive to Kakadu National Park. Take plenty of drinks and snacks with you, as there aren't many stops on the road. Along the way, we visited several refreshing waterholes and waterfalls, had an open-air barbecue, and saw many birds, snakes, anthills, and farmland along the way.

At night we mostly stayed at campsites that provided tents, and the beauty of the night is incomparable. You can hear, smell, and see countless species of animals, from alligators swimming in lakes at night to dingoes howling, to weirdly chirping insects.

We hiked to a hidden waterfall and discovered some hundreds-of-years-old wooden paintings done by the ancestors of Australia's indigenous people. A must-see in Australia for sure!

Camping: Kakadu National Park

Visit the alluring island of Favignana, part of the Aegadian Islands off the western coast of Sicily. Accessible by a 40 minute ferry from Trapani, Favignana is a paradise for beach lovers and those seeking a serene seaside escape. The island's crystal-clear waters and picturesque coves offer an ideal setting for beach hopping - perfect for an off-the-beaten path day trip. Key highlights of this beach adventure include:

1. Ferry Ride from Trapani: The journey begins with a scenic ferry ride from Trapani, offering stunning views of the Mediterranean and the approaching island landscape.

2. Cala Rossa Beach: Known for its breathtaking beauty, Cala Rossa is a must-visit for its turquoise waters and rocky cliffs, perfect for swimming and snorkeling.

3. Lido Burrone: This sandy beach is ideal for families, with its shallow waters and amenities like sunbeds and umbrellas. It's a great spot for relaxing and enjoying the sun.

4. Cala Azzurra: Renowned for its clear azure waters, this beach offers a tranquil setting for swimming and soaking up the island's natural beauty.

5. Biking Around the Island: Rent a bike to explore the island's coastline, discovering hidden coves and secluded beaches at your own pace.

Make sure to arrive early on the island and calculate the time needed to get back to the port before the last ferry departs back to Trapani (in summer it is usually around 8 PM).

Favignana Beach Hopping

The Byzantine mosaics of Ravenna are a magnificent display of early Christian art, dating back to the 5th and 6th centuries. These mosaics, housed in several churches and monuments across the city, represent some of the finest examples of Byzantine craftsmanship in the world. Declared UNESCO World Heritage Sites, Ravenna’s mosaics are celebrated for their vibrant colors, intricate designs, and profound religious significance, offering visitors a glimpse into the city’s storied past as a center of the Western Roman Empire and later Byzantine rule.

Antalya, Turkey, is home to the Tünektepe Cable Car (Tünektepe Teleferik), a breathtaking ride that takes visitors up to 618 meters (2,028 feet) above sea level for panoramic views of Antalya, the Mediterranean Sea, and the Taurus Mountains. Offering a perfect blend of adventure and scenery, this cable car experience is a must-do for nature lovers, photographers, and anyone wanting a bird’s-eye view of one of Turkey’s most beautiful coastal cities.

El Born, one of Barcelona’s most atmospheric neighborhoods, is a maze of narrow streets brimming with history, art, and vibrant local life. With Gothic architecture, trendy boutiques, and cozy cafes at every turn, this area is perfect for a leisurely walk that immerses you in Barcelona’s charm.
1. The Santa Maria del Mar basilica is a stunning example of Catalan Gothic architecture.
2. Streets like Carrer Montcada house art galleries and the Picasso Museum.
3. Small boutiques and artisan shops showcase local craftsmanship.
4. Lively tapas bars make it a great place to pause for authentic Catalan bites.

Stroll Through El Born

Nestled on the northeastern slopes of Athens’ Acropolis, Anafiotika is a charming and historic neighborhood that feels like a Cycladic island village transported to the heart of the Greek capital. Built in the mid-19th century by stonemasons from the island of Anafi, who came to Athens to help construct King Otto’s palace, this neighborhood is a tranquil oasis of whitewashed houses, vibrant bougainvillea, and narrow, winding streets. Its unique blend of Cycladic architecture and urban history offers visitors a serene escape from the city’s bustling energy. 
1. The neighborhood’s homes feature signature white walls, flat roofs, and brightly painted shutters, reminiscent of the Greek islands. Despite being in the shadow of the Acropolis, Anafiotika retains its island-inspired charm. 
2. From many spots in Anafiotika, visitors are rewarded with sweeping vistas of Athens, stretching to the Aegean Sea. Sunset here is particularly magical.
