Led by Şeyma Çınar, a certified expert in miniature and illumination arts, you will learn the essential techniques of Ottoman miniature painting, including fine detailing, color layering, and the traditional stylization of figures and landscapes. In this three-hour session, you will create your own miniature artwork, exploring the time-honored methods used in palace ateliers. Complemented by Turkish tea and snacks, this experience offers a deep cultural connection to Istanbul’s creative scene.

This workshop is one of the few short-format sessions that introduces Ottoman miniature painting in an accessible yet authentic way. Typically, mastering this art requires years of dedicated training, but this session provides a step-by-step introduction, designed to allow participants to complete a full artwork within three hours. Şeyma Çınar is a master artist with official recognition from Türkiye’s Ministry of Culture and Tourism. The host, Şeyma Çınar, is a master artist specializing in miniature art, Tezhip (Islamic illumination), and floral designs since 1998. With formal certification from Turkey’s Ministry of Culture and Tourism, she has dedicated over 25 years to studying and teaching the intricate techniques of Ottoman miniature painting. Having participated in multiple exhibitions and published work on Islamic art, she brings both technical expertise and cultural depth to the workshop, ensuring participants leave with a rich understanding of this ancient craft. She will be accompanied by a translator, allowing everyone to fully engage with her insights and expertise.
