What is this?
No dish is more iconic—or more social—than paella. Especially the seafood-rich varieties of the Catalan coast. Rooted in Spanish maritime culture, it’s a dish made to be shared, with conversation and connection. On this private catamaran experience, you’ll sail the Barcelona coastline with a glass of wine in hand while a local chef prepares paella on board—using regional ingredients, time-honored techniques, and (if you’d like) a little help from you.
Departing from Marina Port Vell, the city’s historic seafront harbor, the route gives you a view of Barcelona’s most recognizable landmarks—from the W Hotel rising from the beach to the green slopes of Montjuïc. Paella is served with local wines, cheeses and cured meats. This isn’t a rushed meal. It’s how paella was meant to be shared—slowly, generously, a long lunch filled with conversation and Catalan wine. It’s lunch, yes—but also a celebration. It's a truly special way to enjoy the sights, sounds, and flavors of the Catalan coast.
What makes this unique?
This is a table on the sea. The rhythm of the waves sets the pace. The skyline becomes a moving backdrop. And the paella, cooked on board by a local chef, anchors the experience in both place and tradition.
You’ll watch the dish come together from raw ingredients into a saffron-scented meal—maybe even help stir the rice or taste for salt. You can be sure it will be a wonderful meal—but it’s also about how it’s made, where it’s made, and who you share it with.
Ideal for families, close friends, or couples marking a special occasion, this experience offers comfort, privacy, and deep regional flavor—all in one unforgettable afternoon. What sets it apart isn’t just the setting, but the chance to slow down for a long lunch, share something real, and take part in a ritual that’s both timeless and deeply Catalan.
If conditions allow and you're interested, you can anchor for a swim and float with the skyline in view.
What is the profile of the host?
You’ll be hosted by a professional local crew: Captain Esteve, steward Esther and chef Nico — warm, attentive, and deeply familiar with both the sea and the city.
What to bring?
Planning to swim? Bring a swimsuit, sunscreen and towel. A light jacket can help after sunset. Otherwise, just bring your good energy. Let us know in advance if anyone has specific dietary needs.
** This tour is dependent on weather conditions. If weather or sea conditions are unsafe, Adria may cancel for safety. He will notify you as early as possible and offer a chance to reschedule. If that doesn’t work with your plans, Fernwayer will cancel and refund in full.
