This experience takes you into one of Portugal’s most iconic estates, Casa de Mateus, for a private tour and traditional lunch. The experience begins with a guided visit of the palace led by an official specialist from the Casa de Mateus Foundation. You'll explore the grand salons, chapel, and gardens that reflect centuries of aristocratic life. Following the visit, sit down for a lunch served in the palace’s original kitchen—an atmospheric setting that preserves the soul of the house. The three-course meal highlights regional ingredients and is paired with wines from the Douro Valley. The kitchen, with its original stonework and antique copper tools, evokes generations of domestic life at Mateus.

While guided tours of Casa de Mateus are available to the public, this experience offers a more intimate, expanded version — led by an institutional expert who provides in-depth context and access to select rooms not typically included in standard visits. After the tour, you’ll enjoy a private lunch in the palace’s original kitchen — normally closed to the public.
