Francesco Verolino

What is this?

Essaouira is a city of contrasts, where Moroccan and Berber cultures intertwine, and life unfolds in vibrant streets, bustling markets, and along the ocean’s edge. This photographic experience, led by the photographer Francesco Verolino, takes you beyond the usual sights into the daily rhythm of the city. With your camera in hand, you’ll explore hidden corners and authentic scenes—fishermen at work, children playing in the suburbs, and the energy of a market that feels like stepping back in time. Francesco will guide you in capturing the essence of the people and places, sharing his approach to life photography and helping you refine your technique. This isn’t just about taking pictures—it’s about immersing yourself in the atmosphere of a place untouched by mass tourism, moving at a slow pace, observing, and truly connecting with the moment.

What makes this unique?

This is a deep dive into the city’s soul through photography. Led by Francesco Verolino, a master photographer specializing in relational and anthropological photography, this experience focuses on seeing beyond the obvious. Rather than capturing the usual postcard images, you’ll develop a photographer’s eye for authentic human moments and untold stories. Francesco’s approach to slow photography means moving at a different pace, immersing yourself in the rhythm of the city, and understanding its people before pressing the shutter. With his guidance, you’ll access exclusive, real-life settings—the energy of a local market, the daily life of the fishermen, and the vibrant yet unseen side of the suburbs outside Essaouira. Instead of capturing the city on your own, this experience will give you a structured yet creative environment where you can refine your storytelling skills and learn how to truly convey emotions through images.

What is the profile of the host?

Francesco Verolino is a street photographer based in Naples and Essaouira who has turned his passion into a career focused on street and social documentary photography. Originally trained in economics and working as a business consultant, he was influenced by his grandfather, a painter, to develop a deep sensitivity to light and composition. Francesco’s work explores the relationship between individuals and urban spaces to convey the raw essence of his subjects. Since 2020, he has been sharing his expertise through workshops and masterclasses, bringing more people into the world of street photography. His "Slow Photography" philosophy emphasizes patience, immersion, and understanding places before capturing them.
