What is this?

Explore the diversity of mezcal in this in-depth guided tasting experience. You'll meet your host in Coyoacán, a colorful, artistic and historic oasis in Mexico City. Begin with a brief walk through some of the area’s most emblematic sites, such as the Capilla de San Juan Bautista and La Casa de la Malinche. Then, you will gather around the communal table in Andrea's studio, where she will share a curated selection of mezcals. For each mezcal you taste, you’ll learn about its region, agave variety, the people who make it, the cultural significance, and the production techniques behind it. Andrea will lead you through a structured tasting method she developed, designed to explore mezcal’s full range of tones and expressions. At each step, you’ll be encouraged to reflect on what you taste and share your impressions. Each mezcal is paired with unique food tastings — salsas, native fruits, artisanal cheeses, and other Mexican snacks — chosen to complement and deepen the experience.

What makes this unique?

This in-depth sensory experience is designed to connect you with mezcal culture. You’ll learn about your own taste preferences and become an informed mezcal drinker. You’ll appreciate the craftsmanship and value of this artisanal spirit and its role in Mexican history. It’s rare in CDMX to find a mezcal tasting that pairs host led structure, historical depth, private guidance, food pairings — all delivered in an intimate setting like Andrea’s tasting studio. Andrea’s specialty is mezcal from Guerrero, an oft-overlooked region producing exceptional spirits. The snacks and entrées are locally sourced; family recipes passed down through generations. The short walk roots you in the story of Coyoacán: its role in the foundation of New Spain as a place of cultural blending and mestizo history. Mezcal is part of this story: distillation techniques arrived with the Spanish and the agave, a plant highly valued in native Mexican cultures, became the raw material that made the spirit possible.

What is the profile of the host?

Andrea is an anthropologist by training, Master Mezcalier by trade, and a singer. She has fifteen years of experience promoting Guerrero State's mezcal culture and traditions, an area not typically associated with mezcal, but with plenty of flavors that are a joy to discover. Andrea's own work in mezcal emerged from an extensive family history, where numerous memories and experiences have been intrinsically linked to the enjoyment of this spirit, always accompanied by good food and music. Since 2010, Andrea has been an integral part of the new narrative being woven around mezcal from Guerrero, actively contributing to its recognition and appreciation both nationally and internationally. Andrea's knowledge encompasses not only the specific culture of Guerrero, but extends to the diverse traditions that exist throughout the length and breadth of Mexico. She is certified as a Master Mezcalier and as a Leader in Food and Beverage Sensory Evaluation.
