Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera, two famous Mexican artists whose complicated relationship has long been the topic of debate, have come to define Mexican art internationally. This private tour through the south of Mexico City and Coyoacán is led by local experts in art history. It is the perfect way to discover this charming part of the city, and also to get to know the myths and reality of these legends' lives and work. This experience includes guided visits through two legendary cultural sites: Casa Azul, Frida Kahlo’s lifelong home and now a museum preserving her intimate world, and the Anahuacalli Museum, envisioned by Diego Rivera as a temple for art that bridges past, present, and future in harmony with the natural landscape. Coyoacán is one of the city’s most picturesque neighborhoods, known for its cobblestone streets, colonial architecture, and bohemian spirit. We’ll stroll through its vibrant main plaza and enjoy lunch at a traditional local restaurant.

Your host will be able to tell you the things to do in Coyoacán, the museums and cultural sites which have played an important role in the development of the city and provide incredible insights to some of its most famous characters.

Andrea Bustillos and Andrea Villers are two art historians and curators with over fifteen years of experience in museums, galleries, and cultural spaces. United by a passion for contemporary art, they’ve each developed careers dedicated to enriching Mexico’s cultural landscape. Andrea B., trained in Madrid, directed a gallery focused on contemporary painting and currently leads a national program supporting Creative Industries. Andrea V., educated in Granada and with a master’s in Curatorial Studies, leads a consultancy that develops exhibition projects and advises on cultural strategies. Together, they offer in-depth experiences grounded in their knowledge of the local arts scene and strong ties to artists, curators, and institutions. If we’re unavailable, our colleagues Jaime or Mario, also experienced art historians, will be your hosts. This would be confirmed in plenty of time ahead of the experience taking place.
