What is this?

Some mornings are made for stillness. This experience invites you to move through Santorini without pressure — just early light, quiet corners, and space to breathe. You’ll begin in Oia before the crowds arrive, following the old sailors' trail where they used to build boats and move them rooftop to rooftop; now, they plant vibrant bougainvilleas. Just a gentle walk shaped by stories. In a smaller village, you’ll pause in a shaded kafeneio for Greek coffee, fresh juice or lemonade, with birdsong and conversation replacing the usual noise. Maria, a lifetime member of the Santorini community, shares stories of life on the island. The moment invites presence, not performance. There’s also time to stop at a peaceful viewpoint—like Profitis Ilias or Windmill Hill—for reflection and a sweeping view. You’ll then close the morning at Symposion, where ancient instruments and island myths echo in a restored winery. This is an intimate moment of connection with local traditions.

What makes this unique?

Santorini speaks softly when you take the time to truly listen. This experience invites you into that quiet conversation, offering a slower way to feel the island, with all senses engaged. It follows a different rhythm—one that values atmosphere, attention, and encounters that linger. Maria has lived on the island all her life and gently opens the door to its more authentic, less visible sides. You’ll find yourselves welcomed into local cafés, greeted by residents, and naturally immersed in a flow shaped by the daily rituals of island life. Ideal for those who appreciate space, stillness, and scenic beauty at a gentle pace, this is an experience rooted in connection rather than spectacle. The island reveals itself through what’s heard, touched, and shared. It’s a chance to sense Santorini as those who live here do — without filters, without rush, with genuine presence.

What is the profile of the host?

Maria Petraki was born and raised in Santorini, and continues to live there year-round. Her deep connection to the island shapes every experience she creates — guided not by routes or checklists, but by the real pace of local life. She welcomes guests with the warmth of Greek hospitality, offering moments that feel more like a visit with old friends than a scheduled activity. Through her, you’ll discover the Santorini where life unfolds slowly, where people still stop for coffee, conversation, and the beauty of small things. With a natural sense for storytelling and attention to detail, Maria curates experiences that are thoughtful, unhurried, and truly memorable. Potential extra stop can include Atlantis Books (currently in Firostefani), especially for book lovers.
