Julieta Funes

What is this?

This curated premium wine experience is designed for travelers seeking intimacy beyond the typical winery tour. You’ll visit two lesser-known bodegas selected by your host, Julieta, which reflect the heart and soul of Mendoza’s winemaking culture. These bodegas often fly under the radar, offering smaller productions, hands-on methods, and a deeper look at Mendoza’s independent wine scene. The experience centers on meaningful encounters and great wine, set against a backdrop of majestic landscapes—scenes your guide, a professional photographer, will help you capture. Inspired by the slow travel movement, Julieta tailors the pace to be gentle and unhurried. She’ll accompany you on tours of both wineries, working in tandem with the host at each estate to explain technique and terroir. Between tastings, she’ll share the kinds of stories locals usually keep to themselves. These vivid tales and captured moments will help you relive the experience long after the final glass is empty.

What makes this unique?

This wine experience in Mendoza stands out for its exclusivity and personal touch — there are no scripts or tourist traps on Julieta’s watch. She works with a small network of boutique wineries in Mendoza’s Luján de Cuyo and Maipú regions, each chosen for its innovation: some specialize in white wines in this Malbec-dominated region, others are pioneers in sustainable methods, and several are led by female oenologists. These bodegas lie off the main tourist circuit and see fewer visitors than the blockbuster estates, offering a more authentic and intimate experience. In addition to exploring these off-the-beaten-path wineries, you’ll meet the real people behind the bottles. Julieta will guide you through the visits and keep the energy alive between tastings. As a professional photographer, she can help you capture high-quality images on your device, and will also snap spontaneous portraits without interrupting your journey through the vineyards and cellars.

What is the profile of the host?

Born and raised in Mendoza, Julieta offers an insider’s perspective on Argentina's premium wine region through engaging conversations and unique experiences. After spending years guiding throughout Argentina and Chile, she has returned to her home city with a vision to show a different side to Mendoza. Julieta's experience mixes a keen knowledge of wine, gastronomy, and cultural history with spontaneity and humor. These unforgettable moments are captured on camera because she also happens to be a professional photographer. Julieta will be your host during the entire experience, making sure everything flows smoothly. At each winery, you’ll also be joined by a local expert who will share their unique perspective and stories.
