Andrea Bustillos and Andrea Villers are two art historians and curators with over fifteen years of experience in museums, galleries, and cultural spaces. United by a passion for contemporary art, they’ve each built careers dedicated to enriching Mexico’s cultural landscape.

Andrea B., trained in Madrid, directed a gallery focused on contemporary painting and currently leads a national program supporting creative industries.

Andrea V., educated in Granada and with a master’s in Curatorial Studies, leads a consultancy that develops exhibition projects and advises on cultural strategies.

Together, they offer in-depth experiences grounded in their knowledge of the local arts scene and strong ties to artists, curators, and institutions. Japan

Master calligrapher Eri Koyama takes you on a journey toward peace and contentment with a simple brush and ink. This private experience begins in a peaceful Kyoto temple where she explains the cultural significance of shodo, Japanese calligraphy, and how it has been used as both a form of art and meditation over the centuries. Rooted in Zen philosophy, shodo invites stillness, focus, and a deep connection between mind and body.

Next, Eri explains the tools used in Japanese calligraphy, and you'll learn to make your own ink from an inkstone. After introducing the different writing styles, she’ll guide you in practicing the foundational strokes used in each.

After a short tea break, you'll choose a favorite Japanese character or word — something meaningful to you — which you'll practice, refining your technique under Eri’s expert instruction. At the end of the workshop, you’ll produce a finished work on handmade paper, a keepsake to display and reflect on long after your return home.

This deep dive into the art of Japanese calligraphy is more than an art workshop; it is an opportunity to understand the strong bond between this ancient practice and many other aspects of Japanese culture. Eri Koyama has practiced Japanese calligraphy (shodō) for over 30 years, studying under renowned calligrapher Shōshū from the age of six. Although she holds a master’s license in the art, Eri approaches each brushstroke with a student’s humility — continuously exploring shodō’s expressive and meditative dimensions. 

In her workshops, Eri welcomes beginners and enthusiasts alike. She shares not only the techniques of shodō — brush, ink, form — but its capacity to cultivate mindfulness and creative presence. Each session becomes a moment to connect hand, heart, and heritage — a quiet, profound journey into the art of writing.

Chile

This full-day outing from Santiago takes you to the coastal city of Valparaíso, designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site for its unique topography, cultural diversity, and layered architectural heritage. Hosted by a professional architect, you will be shown around the colorful Cerro Concepción and Cerro Alegre, visiting such emblematic viewpoints as Paseo Gervasoni, Paseo Atkinson, and Paseo Yugoslavo. You'll learn how the historic El Peral funicular and Baburizza Palace exist alongside other contemporary cultural projects that reflect the city’s ongoing revitalization. Among these, you'll survey the recently opened Immigrant Museum—installed in a restored former German school.

After lunch, Diego will take you to the Cerro Cárcel Cultural Park—an open, community-oriented space housed in a former prison. Nearby, you'll visit Dinamarca399, a collaborative workspace and innovation hub situated next to the historic Dissidents’ Cemetery. All locations are seen from the lens of an architect.

The port city of Valparaíso unfolds like a natural amphitheater facing the Pacific Ocean, where topographical conditions became opportunities for architectural innovation. Diego Baloian is an architect holding a degree from the Universidad Finis Terrae and a Master's in Cultural Heritage from the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile (PUC). As the founding partner at DBG Architecture and Massantiago, his work focuses on architectural design, the restoration of heritage buildings, and urban planning. He has led and participated in projects and seminars in Chile, Argentina, Brazil, Spain, Switzerland, and Hungary. 

Diego has also organized conferences and exhibitions on Latin American architecture in collaboration with Guiding Architects Network, the American Institute of Architects (AIA), and the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zürich (ETH). The experience takes you to Rione Sanità and Quartieri Spagnoli, two historic neighborhoods full of character, where Naples reveals its most authentic side. Francesco Verolino is a street photographer based in Naples and Essaouira who has turned his passion into a career focused on street and social documentary photography. Francesco’s work explores the relationship between individuals and urban spaces to convey the raw essence of his subjects. Since 2020, he has been sharing his expertise through workshops and masterclasses, bringing more people into the world of street photography. His "Slow Photography" philosophy emphasizes patience, immersion, and understanding places before capturing them.

Tokyo is a city of sharp contrasts — and this tour is designed to showcase Tokyo's rhythm, from forest shrine in mid-afternoon to Shibuya at night. 

You begin at a Shinto shrine in the middle of the city, surrounded by towering trees. Your guide shares the customs of shrine visits and helps you collect a Goshuin, handwritten seal pressed into paper. Beyond the torii gates, the energy changes fast. Takeshita Street hums with teenage fashion, storefronts stacked with color and sound. In Omotesando, concrete and glass architecture reflects a city reshaping itself.

From there, a short ride takes you to Zojoji Temple, where the Tokugawa family once worshipped. The temple’s wooden gate dates to 1622. Behind it, Tokyo Tower rises in red steel- a contrast of centuries in a single frame.

Dinner is in Shibuya. You cross the scramble under flickering screens and end in a back alley of tiny bars and paper lanterns, where Tokyo narrows and lets you glimpse a past behind its brightest lights.

After a short taxi drive, you arrive at Zojoji Temple, the Tokugawa shogunate’s family temple. This place has tremendous gravitas. The Sangedatsumon Gate (1622) remains bronze-fastened wood, offering shade and shadow. Beyond it rises Tokyo Tower, completed in 1958, its broadcast lights glowing like embers in steel. Within Zojoji’s grounds are mausoleums of Tokugawa shoguns and quiet memorials. You will visit a gallery showcasing a remarkable collection of painted scrolls.

From there, slip into Nonbei Yokocho, a narrow alley of tiny Showa-era bars lit by lanterns. This is where Tokyo winds down without slowing down.

Time Travel: Limite Zero

Ethiopia

In Lalibela, I am moved by the devotion and faith of pilgrims who have walked for weeks, and hundreds of miles across the country, to celebrate Genna - Ethiopia’s Christmas - on January 7. Here, the year is 2011, since Ethiopia still observes a pre-Julian calendar. I am immediately taken in by the idea of being 7 years younger, albeit for a fleeting moment.

Pilgrims arrive early - between midnight to 5 am -  to get a prized standing spot inside the tiny but iconic Biete Gyorgis. As I watch pilgrims read from their bibles, often from inside their shroud, using a candle or torch, I realize I’ve never seen such fervor in worship.

By 6:30 am, Biete Giyorgis, the iconic rock-hewn church of Lalibela, has no more standing space, so these pilgrims huddle outside and around trees and pray from their copies of the Bible, guided by the chanting from the church, that fills the air with spirituality. It’s poetic and beautiful.
