Nuri Çorbacıoğlu is a leading equine photographer renowned for his stunning images of the wild Yilki horses in Cappadocia, Turkey. Dubbed the "Yilki Horses Photographer," he masterfully captures these majestic animals in their natural habitats—galloping across dusty plains, charging through snow, or splashing in spring waters. His deep understanding of horse behavior and the Anatolian landscape allows him to anticipate and freeze moments that showcase the horses' freedom and spirit.

Chile

This 4-hour private mosaic-making experience takes place in the studio of international muralist, Shannon McEvoy. Under Shannon's guidance, you will design and fabricate a personal mosaic artwork to take home as a memento of your time in Chile. You may choose to create an abstract exploration of shape and color or work from a simple design inspired by common themes in Shannon's art including Chilean flora and fauna. Improvisation is encouraged.

All necessary materials and equipment are provided and Shannon will work with you to help you bring your vision to fruition. After the activity concludes, Shannon will grout your mosaic tile and help you to arrange the pick-up from her studio 48+ hours later.

During the workshop, you'll hear about the significance of mosaics in Chile – a country famed for its street art and murals. You will also hear about Shannon's role as a mosaic muralist working in Santiago, Puente Alto (the Mosaic Capital of the Southern Hemisphere), and beyond.

This experience invites you into the private studio of an artist in Santiago to create your own Chile-inspired mosaic artwork. This may be of an abstract style or inspired by Chilean flora and fauna. You may choose to collaborate with your travel partner and create one mosaic as a team or create individual masterpieces.

Over the course of the workshop, you will learn the fundamentals of mosaic techniques as Shannon helps you assemble your artwork. As an artistic director, Shannon collaborates with Chilean muralists and champions the community aspect of creation and that art is for everyone. During this activity, you'll have the opportunity to quiz Shannon about life as a bilingual expat artist in Chile, her current projects, and how you can bring more creativity into your life.

This experience takes place in Shannon's studio in Providencia, Santiago de Chile. The exact address to is provided after booking. If traveling by metro, take Line 1 and alight at either Pedro de Valdivia or Manuel Montt. It's a 15-minute walk to Shannon’s studio from either station. Shannon is a multimedia artist who loves exploring different languages and cultures, meeting new people, and listening to their stories. Originally from Minnesota, she studied abroad in Viña del Mar in 2010. The country and its people left a lasting impression on her, and she quickly returned after graduation. The street art of Valparaíso influenced her so profoundly that she incorporated Chilean muralism into her undergraduate Honors Thesis and pursued a career as a muralist.

Shannon has lived in Chile for over 10 years, where she teaches English and creates murals—but her talents don’t stop there. She also paints, sketches, makes ceramics and jewelry, designs her own clothes, and experiments with photography.

Shannon loves sharing her passions for art and language. To her, both are about expressing oneself and building meaningful connections. Bilingual in English and Spanish, she also speaks basic Portuguese.

A passionate traveler, Gaia has explored Eastern Europe and the Maghreb solo since 2018, drawing inspiration from places like Georgia, Moldova, Ukraine, Azerbaijan, Romania, Serbia, Morocco, and beyond. For Tiago, connecting with a culture means full immersion. “You have to experience it with open eyes, heart, and mind,” he says. That means talking to locals, walking unfamiliar routes, listening more than looking. “Lisbon isn’t just to be seen, but touched, smelled, and tasted.” It’s not a checklist—it’s a presence.
He also names two challenges: First, Lisbon’s historic neighborhoods are deeply distinct—each like its own mini-city. “Lisbon is multidimensional. It cannot—and should not—be rushed.” Second, mass tourism threatens the local character he cherishes. Responsible travel, he says, is essential to preserve the culture.

I remember wandering through narrow streets and finding tiny bars with real flamenco. It felt genuinely lived in.”
 “Tourism has definitely changed things,” she admits. “Places like La Rambla are overcrowded. Many locals have been pushed out by the rise in tourist rentals. But Catalans are proud of their traditions. They’ve started resisting these changes to preserve the city’s character.” That character is what Manila has grown to love. “I chose Barcelona because I felt an immediate connection. The Mediterranean lifestyle, the weather, the proximity to mountains and sea — it feels like home but also stretches me outside my comfort zone.” She relishes the contrast to her native Sicily. “I can take a train and be skiing in the Pyrenees in just over an hour. Where else do you get that?”
What keeps her in Barcelona is the balance of tradition and openness. “The cuisine, the olive groves, the vineyards — they remind me of southern Italy, but they’re uniquely Catalan.” And the city’s connectivity has made it easy to stay rooted while maintaining close ties to Italy. She speaks with admiration about the people: “Catalans are proud, resilient, and united. They have a strong sense of identity and community. Juliet’s House in Verona

Iceland

This being a ‘chill trip’, we did not want to hike 10 hours on a glacier. Instead we trek on the Vatnajokull glacier looking for ice caves with wind on our face and ice under our feet.

Earlier, we woke up at 7 and drive in cold and windy January to Skaftafell National Park to meet Einar, our guide. 

This cave... like others ... started forming In August but you are never sure it will be stable to explore till later. In September, the loose ceiling collapsed  and this brilliant cave was formed.

These fragile and transitory structure require constant maintenance from falling rock and melting icicles. Einer enters the cave and spots a few boulders on the roof. He removes them to prevent harm to the cave and us. 

As we move around, the cave looks different as our viewing angle and the sunlight outside changes.

We are in complete awe ... and hungry. Luckily a steaming meal of lamb and potatoes is close by.

Ice Caving

Cagliari’s Historic Center, the heart of Sardinia’s capital, is a vibrant blend of history, culture, and stunning views. 1. The Bastione di Saint Remy, with its grand staircase and terrace, offers breathtaking views of the city, the port, and the surrounding area, especially magical at sunset. 
2. The Cagliari Cathedral, a stunning Romanesque-Gothic structure, is a must-see for its ornate interior and crypts, housing relics of Sardinian martyrs. 
3. The Torre dell’Elefante and Torre di San Pancrazio, medieval towers that once defended the city, provide incredible views and insight into Cagliari’s fortifications. 
4. Wander through the Piazza Palazzo, where historic buildings like the Archbishop’s Palace and the Royal Palace reflect the city’s political and religious history. 
5. The district’s narrow streets and alleys, lined with colorful houses, artisan shops, and traditional trattorias, make exploring on foot a delight. 
Visitor Tip: Allow 2–3 hours to explore the historic center. Wear comfortable shoes for the cobblestone streets and steep climbs, and visit in the late afternoon to enjoy cooler weather and evening lights.

Cagliari’s Historic Center

Pena Palace, atop the hills of Sintra, Portugal, is a stunning example of 19th-century Romanticism in architecture. Düden Waterfalls

The Old Town of Faro is the historic heart of this coastal city in the Algarve region of Portugal. Encased within ancient Roman walls, this quaint district offers a stunning journey through Faro’s layered history, with remnants of Roman, Moorish, and medieval Portuguese influences.
