Bodega Visit and Tasting

Marta recommends leaving the private transport aside for the final stretch. This is so you can take the cable car from the base of Montserrat up to the monastery, which is located 720 meters above sea level. The cable car offers a truly stunning panoramic view of the surrounding landscape not available via any other method.

Once you've arrived, you'll enter the Cathedral and get to approach the throne where the famous Black Madonna sits. The Monastery and Cathedral has been built bit-by-bit for centuries, and you'll get to enjoy various architectural styles ranging from Gothic to Baroque.

One of the most important parts of one’s culture is surely its gastronomy. How better to know Dubrovnik then to follow the story of its development in the city tour while tasting the story as well. In the ancient republic the society was divided into three classes: commoners, citizens and noblemen. We will start the tour in the spirit of the 10th century, a commoner at the beginning. Then we will evoke the spirit of a medieval citizen’s day life. At the end you will taste a noblemen’s plate, one of the oldest and most favorite traditional recipe. Each of the three locations we visit will offer a tasting dish and different wine, matching the story. Jaime will teach you how to read a building, understand its symbolism, and appreciate how public and private spaces coexist in a city. Along the way, he’ll share curious tales and trivia about this UNESCO World Heritage Site. You'll also gain insight into how Valparaíso's unique topography has influenced its architecture and urban design, shaping the city's identity over centuries.

No sketching expertise is needed—this activity accommodates and inspires everyone to adopt the mindset of an artist. Children, novices, doodlers, and dreamers are all welcome. Templates are provided to assist with sketching.

Jaime Núñez is a Chilean architect and master in urban planning. Born and raised in Valparaíso—the Jewel of the Pacific—he offers a unique perspective on this city of poets, sailors, and artists. Having studied every corner and curve of this place built on 45 hills, he shares the cultural story behind each edifice. His career took him to Brazil, where he published papers and conducted further research into the landscape of urban design. Upon returning to Valparaíso, Jaime established his own architectural firm.

Jaime never leaves home without his sketchbook and trusty pencil. His mission is to inspire creativity in every traveler who sets foot in his home city and to encourage them to look beyond the surface. A rich storyteller with a passion for people and place, his sketching and architectural experiences are filled with captivating tales.

Peru

This full-day tour blends history, the arts, and food. You'll start at the ruins of Pachacamac, Lima's largest archaeological site, where you will explore the temples and the on-site museum. You will then visit a local community of artisans and see their ceramics and textiles workshops, learning about their techniques. Lunch is prepared at the home of a ceramics artist — and you'll play a starring role. Lunch begins with a cooking class where you will learn how to prepare a simple, traditional dish such as Causa or Papa a la Huancaína from scratch.

The experience includes transportation to and from your hotel in Lima and professional guiding from Alfredo. He will narrate the story of Pachacamac, explaining the different temples and how this was once the most significant sanctuary on the Andean coast. In the craft quarter, he will facilitate cultural exchanges with the modern makers keeping pre-Columbian methodologies alive, who will demonstrate their techniques.

This experience invites you to actively participate in living heritage. At Pachacamac, Alfredo brings the temples to life through storytelling that connects ancient rituals with present-day culture. Step inside a working Buddhist temple in Osaka and spend several hours following the rhythms of a monk’s day. You’ll meet your hosts - a practicing monk who also works as an architect, and Zane, who has spent ten years in Japan studying religious and cultural traditions. Then you’ll change into the traditional robes of a monk and begin a series of mindful rituals.

First, a guided meditation and the practice of shakyo: hand-copying sutras in the form of kanji characters using brush and ink. This is a daily ritual for monks, intended to steady the mind before service. Later, you'll assist with the daily temple tasks, from preparing for festivals to sweeping the temple grounds.

Midday, you’ll share a shojin ryori meal: a simple, seasonal vegetarian lunch prepared in the Buddhist tradition. Zane provides translation, insights and context throughout.

At the end of the day, you’ll receive either a goshuin (temple stamp) or omamori (amulet)—a small marker of your day as a monk in Osaka.

Most introductions to monastic life in Japan take place in rural retreats. This temple is an active religious site in the grid of central Osaka. You’ll speak with the monks about their lives, explore the overlaps and tensions between secular and spiritual paths, and observe how Buddhist tradition is preserved and adapted in a modern context.

The monk who leads the experience also works as an architect. His approach integrates design with ritual. His wife prepares the mid-day meal using principles of shojin ryori passed down through temple tradition. Zane, who has spent a decade in Japan, helps translate both language and context, offering interpretation that clarifies without interrupting the cadence of the day.

Growing up on the city’s outskirts, it wasn’t until returning after time abroad that he saw it anew. “It was as a young and independent adult with an arts and architecture degree, and with the enthusiasm to explore — that I realized how beautiful, diverse, and interesting my city is.”
For Tiago, connecting with a culture means full immersion. “You have to experience it with open eyes, heart, and mind,” he says. That means talking to locals, walking unfamiliar routes, listening more than looking. “Lisbon isn’t just to be seen, but touched, smelled, and tasted.” It’s not a checklist—it’s a presence.
He also names two challenges: First, Lisbon’s historic neighborhoods are deeply distinct—each like its own mini-city. “Lisbon is multidimensional. It cannot—and should not—be rushed.” Second, mass tourism threatens the local character he cherishes. Responsible travel, he says, is essential to preserve the culture.

Explore Alqueva Lake

Antelope Canyon may be the most famous of Utah’s slot canyons,  but if you want to avoid the large crowds, go to Buckskin Gulch - harder to reach but possibly, more enjoyable.

Wire Pass, a gorge carved through the Cockscomb by Coyote Wash, is the most popular entry route into Buckskin Gulch. It takes 1.7 miles to get to the slot canyon from the trailhead. Wire Pass is short, less than half a mile, but its slot canyon is even more confined than Buckskin, and makes for spectacular photos.

Buckskin Gulch twists its way for another 13 surreal miles, but we turn back after a couple of miles to head back to the trailhead. We’ve stopped every few feet to capture various angles of the rock and light - and literally run out of time. You could certainly do a wonderful all-day hike here.

Through the Wire

Alongside the famous above-ground structure, the lesser-known underground passages offer a unique glimpse into the ancient aqueducts that have supplied the fountain for centuries. 1 - Legends in Baroque: The Trevi Fountain, with its dramatic sculptures and cascading waters, is an emblematic sight in Rome. Designed by Nicola Salvi, the fountain features Oceanus, the god of water, amidst sea horses and tritons. According to legend, throwing a coin into the fountain ensures a return to Rome, making this a cherished ritual for visitors.

2 - Architectural Details: As you admire the fountain, notice the intricate details – the realism of the sculptures, the play of light on water, and the architectural harmony. The fountain’s design and its integration into the Palazzo Poli illustrate the Baroque era's grandeur and its emphasis on theatrical effects.

3 - Underground Vicus Caprarius: Beneath the bustling streets lies the Vicus Caprarius, also known as the "City of Water." This archaeological area, accessible to visitors, reveals the complex system of ancient Roman aqueducts. The underground tour offers an insight into how these aqueducts, particularly the Aqua Virgo, have been supplying water to the Trevi Fountain since ancient times. You’ll see ruins of Roman buildings and pathways, showcasing remnants of mosaics, amphorae, and other artifacts. It’s a journey that contrasts the grandeur of the fountain above with the historical engineering marvels below.

Mafra Palace, an architectural masterpiece of Baroque and Neoclassical styles, stands majestically in the town of Mafra, just outside Lisbon. Built in the early 18th century by King João V, this palace was originally intended to fulfill a vow after the birth of his first child. Today, it is one of Portugal’s most remarkable historical monuments and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, famed for its lavish design, extensive library, and impressive basilica. Mafra Palace has also gained literary fame through Nobel Laureate José Saramago’s novel, Baltasar and Blimunda, which immortalizes the palace’s history and symbolism in Portuguese culture.
