This is a walking storytelling experience along the path of the Seven Saints of Marrakesh — an urban pilgrimage established in the 17th century. Each saint’s tomb became part of a symbolic route celebrating core values of Moroccan identity: healing, justice, solidarity, scholarship, and sacrifice.

Though non-Muslims cannot enter the shrines, the route winds through the neighborhoods that grew around them, where stories are shared just outside. You won't hear facts recited at landmarks. You will also pause for tea, snack and conversation at a local's home in the Medina - a rare privilege.

This workshop offers a first-hand experience of all the steps involved in the creation of the emblematic tapas of Spain. You’ll see the journey of creating a selection of tapas from market to the table. You will prepare the tapas under the guidance of the chef, who will explain the geographical origin of each dish, and share interesting facts and creative possibilities for their preparation. The hands-on experience is a crucial element. Following the preparation, there's the joy of tasting the creations, paired with traditional Spanish wines. This historical walk maps Thessaloniki’s transformation from antiquity to the present day. It begins at the Trigoniou Tower on the northern wall, where sweeping views set the stage for an itinerary shaped by centuries of change. From there, the path along the Byzantine fortifications leads to the monastery of Vlatadon, tied to the memory of St Paul’s presence, before descending toward landmarks that reveal the city’s complex past.

The route descends to the small church of Osios David, where you step inside. It then continues past the Ottoman Alatza Imaret and reaches Saint Dimitrios, where you take time to explore its interior. You then walk toward the Roman forum before arriving at the Rotonda and its early Christian mosaics. Just before entering the Rotonda, you’ll stop for a coffee break.

This experience welcomes you into the studio of Shannon McEvoy in Providencia, Santiago’s leafiest central district, for a two-hour private meet-and-greet with the artist.

Over light refreshments, you’ll hear how Shannon relocated from the United States to Chile and established herself as a muralist working between two cultures. She will share insights into her creative process and the techniques behind large-scale public artworks. Through an interactive presentation, you’ll explore some of her murals across Chile and beyond, gaining an understanding of how street art reflects cultural narratives and urban identities.

Inside her studio, you’ll view a curated selection of her works, from completed pieces to works in progress, offering a rare behind-the-scenes look at an artist’s evolving practice. The session also provides an opportunity to discuss the role of public art in shaping communities and the inspirations that fuel her vibrant, large-scale creations.

This rare-access, behind-the-scenes experience takes place in the private studio of an artist whose work bridges the cultural landscapes of Chile and the United States. Shannon will share little-known stories about how she integrated into the local art scene and provide an overview of Chilean artistic traditions, from muralism to contemporary public art.

As an artistic director, Shannon collaborates with fellow muralists and actively champions the community aspect of street art. She will discuss her latest large-scale installation, created in partnership with the Santiago Metro and the United States Embassy. Originally from Minnesota, multimedia artist Shannon McEvoy studied in Viña del Mar in 2010. The country and its people left a lasting impression on her, and she quickly returned after graduation. Inspired by the street art of Valparaíso, she incorporated Chilean muralism into her undergraduate Honors Thesis and later became a muralist herself.

Shannon has lived in Chile for over 10 years, where she teaches English and creates murals—though her talents extend far beyond. She also paints, sketches, makes ceramics and jewelry, designs her own clothes, and experiments with photography. As an artistic director, she has overseen several monumental public art installations in Santiago and beyond.

Passionate about both art and language, Shannon sees them as powerful tools for self-expression and meaningful connection. Bilingual in English and Spanish, she also speaks basic Portuguese.

At Riisitunturi National Park, ancient trees enveloped in layers of sticky snow (called ‘tykky’ in Finnish) assume fantastical shapes of monsters, ghosts, birds and families of snow people. On days like this, when sunrise and sunset happen within a two-hour window, backgrounds are brushed in pinks and yellows, and foregrounds etched with tracks of reindeer, dogs and humans. 

Snow is something more than frozen water to the Sami people. It’s a way of expressing the basis of their existence.

Best time to visit? Late December to March. Getting there from Rovaniemi takes more than 2 hours each way, but the trails are easy - we did a 4 km.

Disko Bay is the Iceberg Factory for 10% of Greenland's icebergs. Sadly, production has increased in recent years, with Spring melts as early as April.

Nothing prepares you for the disorientation - and wonderment - of the brilliance of a midnight Sun. Especially when surrounded by massive icebergs that reflect and mirror the sky and the sea.

I don't remember seeing this yesterday, I tell the boat captain, is this a new work of art? He laughs, and tells me that everyday is  a bit different. 

The midnight boat trip in end-July - as the sun sets just for a few minutes - is the best time to see the sky’s amazing colors reflected on the icebergs.

So amid the current situation of the world myself and two other friends managed to score flights to Colorado for $47. We rented a Jeep and decided to travel all around Colorado. This was my first time ever out west as I am an eastern girl! 

If you are ever able to visit Maroon Bells please do! Preferably at night so that you can watch the sun set over the mountain top! The sound coming from the small river combined with the smell of fresh air made me want to pitch a tent and never leave! The weather was not as cold as I expected. I was hoping to see more wild life but besides a few ducks there was none. I still had a fantastic time.

Elevated Gaze: Torre Tavira

If you want to explore Spain on foot, you should definitely set out on one of the pilgrimage routes through the country. All routes lead to the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela in Galicia, which is located in the northwest. As a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Camino de Santiago has been named a central point of cultural exchange – and a historical highlight that shows what medieval Spain looked like. We chose to follow the famous Camino Frances. The original 800km route takes 5 weeks, but we decided to get in a little later, we only had 11 days, and opted for the route starting in the Galician town of Sarria. Along the way, you'll meet many other tourist pilgrims, but you'll also be able to immerse yourself in the local culture and taste Spain's best delicacies (tapas, seafood, and Spanish Serrano ham). Be prepared for a lot of walking – and take the best walking boots you have. We’ve enjoyed every minute, but some people we met had the wrong equipment, complaining about blisters.

Church of St. Euphemia

Chile’s El Tatio Geysers form the largest geyser field in the Southern Hemisphere and the third-largest in the world, located at an altitude of 4,320 meters (14,170 feet) in the Atacama Desert. Best visited at dawn, this geothermal wonder offers a breathtaking display of boiling water eruptions, steaming fumaroles, and mineral-rich hot springs, set against the backdrop of the towering Andes Mountains. The combination of extreme altitude, icy morning temperatures, and surreal landscapes makes for an unforgettable experience.
