This full-day experience immerses you in the Atacama's most dramatic scenery: its geysers, high-altitude wetlands, and volcanic highlands. Unlike most tours to El Tatio (Los Géisers del Tatio) which depart before dawn, Valeria's experience takes place once the crowds have thinned and the late-morning light draws out the remarkable hues of the minerals. A naturalist guide with a keen knowledge of geology, Valeria dives deep into this phenomenal region of geysers, fumaroles, and mud pools before leading you on a gentle hike (at 4,200 m.a.s.l.).

The excursion continues at the rarely-visited Río Blanco Wetland (Humedal de Río Blanco). Fed by a river carrying meltwater from the Andes, this green corridor — popular with vicuñas and flamingoes — is a shock amid the arid landscape and a particular delight for wildlife lovers. As you make your way back down to San Pedro, you will call at the Machuca and Putana wetlands and reflect on these diverse ecosystems in the Atacama Northern Highlands.

Everyone knows about the Tatio Geysers, and everyone wishes to witness the world's highest geothermal field as part of their Altiplano safari. But Valeria's experience goes beyond the typical sightseeing tour; she's taking you off-piste and showing you there's more than vapor. Arriving after the sunrise show, you are able to appreciate the colors of the mineral deposits, the bubbling mud pools, and the geyser vents, which are tricky to see in the low light of dawn. After wandering around the main geothermal system, Valeria will guide you to a lesser-known mud geyser. At the Río Blanco Wetland, you will linger over one of the Atacama's most biodiverse ecosystems and keep one eye trained for its wildlife, both migratory and resident.

Mexico

Likely meaning “place of coyotes,” Coyoacán was originally a village founded by the Tepanec people in pre-Columbian times. In 1521, it became the first capital of ‘New Spain’ and remained a settlement distinct from Mexico City until the 1850s. Now located in the south of Mexico City (CDMX), Coyoacán is perhaps best known today for being the home of the Frida Kahlo Museum and the impressive colonial-era architecture. 

Bruno, your guide for this tour, is an artist who grew up in Coyoacán. Through his unique perspective, you’ll gain historical, personal, and artistic context for this beautiful neighborhood. You’ll see some of the area’s most prominent sites, get to know its complex history, and visit a workshop showroom of one of its most exciting local artisans/artists. Bruno Berthier is a painter with a background in sociology and experience in diplomacy. His work is characterised by thick brushstrokes and a bold use of colour. Coming from a family of painters of Italian origin, he grew up in Mexico City’s Coyoacán neighborhood and is passionate about Mexican and international contemporary art. He has a passion for travelling and spent many years couchsurfing and meeting people across Europe and Asia. He is a member of the Quinto Piso Collective, composed of numerous contemporary artists working in CDMX. This collective works to support each other and promote Mexico City’s exciting contemporary art scene. 

Portugal

This experience takes you to one of the smallest olive groves in the Alentejo. With only 231 olive trees, João’s farm has been in the family for three generations, but it was only in 2015 that he started producing olive oil.

João's grandfather planted most olive trees, but some have been here for thousands of years. Unlike the super-intensive olive groves common in the area, João's traditional approach relies solely on rainwater and eschews chemical use. This experience delves into the rich history of the farm and the meticulous process of olive oil production. You'll witness unique grafting techniques that allow different olive varieties to grow from a single tree. 

The experience includes learning the art and science of olive oil tasting, understanding the nuances between northern and southern Portuguese olive oils, and savoring a lunch that features regional products and wines from local producers that João knows personally.

You will need to drive or arrange your own transport to João's farm which is about 25 minutes away from the center of Évora.

Argentina

This private, 4-hour ceramics experience invites you to create a decorative piece while enjoying a few glasses of wine and empanadas. Mendoza is as celebrated for its thriving arts community as it is for its world-renowned Malbec wines. You will learn about the artisan process of ceramics, from modeling to decoration, culminating in a unique piece to take home as a reminder of your time in Mendoza. This may be a plate or a cup; Lucila will discuss the options with you prior to starting.

In addition to exploring your creativity, you will also sample wines from local Mendoza wineries and enjoy delicious locally made empanadas, making this a full experience for the senses. No previous experience is needed—just a desire to enjoy and learn.

As the finished ceramic piece must be fired after the workshop, if you would like to keep it, you will need to collect it one week later or arrange to have it shipped. Shipping costs are not included in the price of the experience.

Discover the vibrant world of natural dyeing, a craft that has been integral to Turkish textile production for centuries. This hands-on experience begins with a brief introduction to the history of Turkish textiles, focusing on the symbolic meanings of colors and patterns that have been passed down through generations. You’ll learn how dyes were traditionally sourced from plants, minerals, and insects, with shades of red, blue, and gold holding particular significance in Turkish culture. After exploring the cultural importance of these colors, the workshop transitions to a practical demonstration where you’ll create your own naturally dyed fabric. Guided by an expert, you’ll use centuries-old techniques to extract colors and apply them to textiles, producing your unique design. This is an immersive experience for anyone interested in both the historical and practical traits of this traditional Turkish craft.

Originally trained as a chemical engineer, his passion for textiles eventually led him to shift careers. Now a licensed tourist guide specializing in textiles and history, he combines his technical knowledge of fabrics and dyes with a deep understanding of Turkish culture and heritage. His unique background provides rare insights into both the science and the artistry behind traditional textile production, making him the perfect guide for this workshop.

This special experience takes you off the beaten path into the world of a truly local family in Lunlunta, Mendoza. For over 30 years, Juan Marcos Juricich — a softly spoken agronomist and beekeeper — has lived and worked on this small finca with his children, who now help him run the place. Upon arrival, you'll explore the estate with Federico, the youngest son and a winemaker who produces organic wine from grapes lovingly grown on the family plot. You'll sample his latest blends fresh from the tanks and, if you like what you taste, you can even bottle your own wine to take home. 

Through Federico, you will learn about Juan's storied beekeeping and organic honey production methods. There is a chance to try the honey and, depending on the season, hold the hives. To wrap up the experience, Federico will fire up the parrilla for a home-cooked asado, served under the trees with laughter, stories, and wine. This is not a show. It’s a slice of Mendoza life — shared the way it’s always been.

This experience brings you into a real working farm and the home of a family who live off the land, producing wine and honey. You’ll get up close with the bees, understand their significance to the local ecosystem, and learn how Juan, an agricultural engineer and respected apiculturalist, specializes in queen bee breeding and sustainable apiculture.

Meet Pierre in the heart of Bordeaux in his studio next to Saint Michel church. Over coffee or tea paired with chocolatines and croissants, Pierre will share stories from his daily life and explain how his studio fits into this historic and lively area.

You’ll explore the origins of photography and learn about wet plate collodion—a 19th-century technique that uses glass or metal plates, chemical baths, and a large format camera. Pierre will demonstrate each step while coating, sensitizing, exposing, and developing images.

Watching your portrait come to life is a striking visual moment: deep contrasts, delicate textures, and a vintage feel that’s hard to find elsewhere. While your image slowly appears, Pierre shares family stories and his personal view of Bordeaux and photography. If the light conditions are good, you can choose to shoot outdoors and include a glimpse of the city in your portrait.



The uniqueness of this experience lies in the physicality of the process and the one-of-a-kind result. Wet plate collodion photography doesn’t aim to imitate the past—it uses an early technique to craft images that are singular, dense, and deeply present. Each portrait is shaped by light and chemistry, with a richness of tones and details that can’t be replicated.

Pierre Wetzel has spent years refining this 19th-century process, working entirely with a large-format camera and mastering the subtle balance of materials and timing. Fixing Time in Saint-Michel

Pierre Wetzel is a Bordeaux-based photographer known for his dedication to wet plate collodion, a 19th-century photographic process that he has mastered over years of experimentation. He lives and works in the Saint-Michel district, where he runs his studio and regularly collaborates on community-based art projects that connect photography with local stories and social engagement.

This is a meticulously curated 5-hour tour about the exquisite world of jewelry in Milan, blending design, materials, and craftsmanship. You’ll start from the Poldi Pezzoli Museum's Gold Room, which houses over two hundred precious jewels in four sections: ancient enamels, sacred jewelry, collectors' items, and personal ornaments, with a notable collection of Etruscan pieces from funerary legacies. Then you’ll walk to a revered jewelry shop, known for captivating four generations with its precious creations. Here, you’ll witness the various stages of jewel realization, observing how original designs and precious jewels come to life through exceptional craftsmanship. Later, after a brief coffee/snack break, you’ll visit the Scuola Orafa Ambrosiana, a renowned Milanese educational institution where the techniques and artistic craft abilities of jewelry making are taught and practiced. This offers a deep insight into the educational aspects of the craft, and how the artisans are created.

Corviale is one of the most ambitious and controversial housing projects ever built in Rome. Conceived in 1972 and stretching for nearly a kilometer, this massive complex—locally known as Il Serpentone (“the big snake”)—was inspired by Brutalist and Rationalist architecture and designed to house 8,500 people.

Walking through Corviale today means entering the layered story of a city that, in the 1970s, faced deep social inequality—when a third of its population still lived in shack settlements. This experience unfolds as a moving urban workshop: you’ll explore the hopes and failures that shaped this space, from its utopian promise of public housing to the long years of abandonment, marginalization, and stigma.

As the district undergoes a slow and ongoing transformation, this walk invites you to question what renewal really means, and how architecture, policy, and community intersect in the making—and remaking—of a city.

This experience offers a rare chance to explore Corviale with a sociologist who has spent years studying the urban stereotypes often attached to Rome’s outskirts. As you walk through the architecture and social fabric of this monumental complex, you’ll gain insight into the hopes and contradictions that shaped it.

The conversation will also open up to a broader reflection on similar projects from the same era—like the Vele di Scampia in Naples, built to house families displaced by the 1980 earthquake. Both Corviale and Scampia were born of urgency and idealism, yet followed different paths. This comparison adds a deeper layer to the walk, encouraging a critical reading of how cities respond to housing crises.

Smoke spewing volcano 🌋 that one can climb, tree blanketed mountains, pastel buildings, cobbled streets and quintessential garden courtyards with fountains give picture postcard views on every corner we turn.

The town Is made for walking with stone arches In bold colors, baroque architecture, churches from Spain and vibrant markets bursting with colorful woven garments like ponchos, hats & table cloth and handicrafts.

It’s the birthplace of chocolate 🍫 and there are several museums that teach how the Mayans made ‘the food of the gods’. Adjoining chocolate cafes serve decadent treats and chocolate liqueur.

The coffee ☕️ is divine too and apart from sampling the local shops, we visited a local plantation to learn about coffee making.

Antigua is one of our favorite Central American cities.

The area around Évora, a UNESCO World Heritage city with Roman, medieval, and contemporary layers of history, is particularly rich in these prehistoric sites. Exploring the ancient megaliths of Alentejo and the medieval walled city of Évora allows visitors to travel through time—from Neolithic rituals to Roman conquests, Gothic architecture, and beyond.

Highlights of the Ancient Megaliths and Évora:

1. Visit the Cromeleque dos Almendres, one of Europe’s oldest and largest stone circles, dating back to 4000 BC. The Caves in Negril offers a unique and exhilarating experience for those seeking adventure in a breathtakingly beautiful setting. Perched atop honeycomb cliffs formed by volcanic activity, The Caves is a gateway to thrilling cliff diving and cave swimming experiences.

The natural structure of the cliffs at The Caves makes them an ideal location for cliff diving. The walls of the resort are a veritable museum of ancient fossilized marine life and provide a variety of diving spots. 

As guests at The Caves, we were encouraged to take early morning dives from the cliffs, with jumps ranging from 8 ft to 30 ft, and there's even a jump inside a cave for the more daring. 

Despite the excitement of cliff diving, it's important to approach this activity with caution. The heights can be intimidating, and the water can appear menacing, especially when the weather is not ideal. So be careful and always go with a companion.

Forty-five minutes from Palm Springs – or a slightly longer, two hours from Los Angeles - in California’s southernmost Joshua Tree National Park, I’m waiting at the Visitor Center to buy my park pass, and it’s clear that the most commonly asked question of the rangers in this Park is - “Why is it called a Joshua Tree?"

Turns out the giant, branching yucca’s shape reminded early Mormon settlers of a story in which the Prophet Joshua reaches his hands up to the sky. “A good Joshua Tree will be really thick, with arms sticking out like they’re wearing furry sleeves.” – From The Bulletin, in a 1987 article, 7 years before the trees got themselves their own National Park. 

No two Joshua Trees are alike – for that would be too boring. Instead, they defiantly withstand the desert conditions and stretch out in weird and wonderful ways.

My taxi driver, Chand, tries his best to persuade me to change the plan - “K.R. Market is a complete mess in the rainy season”, he argues, and for effect, twists his head around to the back seat to look at my tunic, shakes his head, and declares woefully — “You will be covered in mud and smelly water”. Sadly for him, I can’t resist a wholesale flower market. 

At sunrise every day, the southern end of Avenue Road lines up with a couple hundred flower vendors. Business between 5 to 8 a.m. is hectic and noisy.. Since it’s well past 10 a.m. now, I weave my way instead through stalls of vegetables, fruits and spices to find the building where these vendors disappear to after their morning sales. 

Chand is right about the mulch smells and slushy floors.  Climb up to the second floor to find a quiet spot to view the action from above. Or wander through the narrow passages, as I do, stepping around baskets full of flowers. 

For the record, my tunic remains mud-and-slush-free.
