Asakusa was the cultural heart of the Late Edo Period, and Senso-ji - Tokyo’s oldest temple - was its spiritual anchor. This segment of the tour begins at Kaminarimon, the Thunder Gate, with its massive red lantern and statues of protective gods. You’ll begin with lunch at a local restaurant/cafe, chosen for its connection to the neighborhood. After a welcome drink, you head into the woods for an interactive truffle hunt with specially trained dogs. On your final morning, you’ll likely rise early—if you do, step outside to see Mount Toubkal lit by sunrise, a quiet reminder of where you’ve just been. After a warm, local breakfast, you’ll make the gentle descent back to Imlil, retracing familiar trails through the valley. Once in Imlil, you can pause to rest or meet your driver for the return to Marrakesh (organize the return trip with your Marrakesh home, it's not included in this experience). 

This closing stretch offers a soft, thoughtful end to your journey. The morning light, a simple and tasty Berber breakfast, and the familiar rhythm of the trail give you time to reflect. Summit day begins before sunrise with a steady, demanding ascent from the refuge to the top of Mount Toubkal, which rises to 4,167 meters—the highest point in North Africa. The trail is rocky and steep, but manageable with good fitness. At the summit, you’ll stand above the High Atlas, with sweeping views over the Marrakech plains and, on clear mornings, the edge of the Sahara.

What sets this summit apart isn’t just the altitude—it’s how you get there. The pace is measured, your body is acclimatized, and you’re supported by a guide who knows these mountains intimately. The climb is strenuous but achievable for those with good fitness, and the moment at the top—raw, quiet, and panoramic—is earned, not rushed. It’s a personal peak, not just a physical one.

After the summit climb in the early morning, you’ll make a gradual descent down to the village of Aremd. You’ll arrive by the afternoon—early enough to rest, recover, and take in the views of the mountain you just climbed. You’ll stay the night in a simple and rustic but comfortable Berber guesthouse, with a private room/double/family room with a member of your party (based on your preference), each with its own ensuite bathroom. These are simple and modest, comfortable and safe lodgings. 

This final night gives you space to absorb the full experience. From the guesthouse terrace, you’ll see Toubkal from below—quiet and distant now. You’ll have a chance to walk through the village, meet local residents, and maybe visit the village hammam. Dinner is a warm, home-cooked meal—flavorful, generous, and made from local ingredients. The pace is slower, the conversation flows, and your connection to this landscape deepens in a quieter, more personal way.

Descent & Berber Village Stay

After a full day of ascent, you’ll reach the Toubkal Refuge—your base at 3,200 meters before summit day. You’ll break for a picnic lunch en route or stop for a warm meal in a Berber home, then continue to the refuge. Here, you’ll settle into a private/double room, depending on the group's needs (please share this with Ahmed after booking), and enjoy a proper dinner to refuel and acclimatize for the climb ahead.

Most trekkers sleep in dorm-style bunk rooms with shared bathrooms at the Toubkal Refuge, often alongside 10–20 others—conditions that don’t support privacy, comfort, or restful sleep. In contrast, this experience includes a private / double room shared only within your group, based on your preference, each with an ensuite bathroom. It’s a quieter, more restorative way to spend the night at altitude. Keep in mind, however, that these are simple and modest rooms. In rare situations when all private rooms are booked out, Ahmed will arrange private/double tents for your party -- these are comfortable, safe and provide a peaceful night's sleep (in this case, the bathrooms at the refuge will be used.)

Meals are freshly prepared and more generous than the standard dorm fare, with a focus on nourishment and recovery. 

This high-altitude pause isn’t just practical—it allows your body to adjust, improves your summit chances, and offers rare stillness under the stars of the High Atlas.

The excursion begins in Imlil, about 1.5 hours by car from Marrakesh. If you’re staying in Marrakesh, Ourika, or similar, please arrange round-trip transportation with your hotel.

An experienced guide, well-versed in the region’s geography and the cultural nuances of the Berber communities. The guide offers not only navigational expertise but also insights into the local traditions and natural history of the area. They will ensure that you feel safe, welcomed, and well-informed.

Weather Safety Precaution: If the weather turns bad, Ahmed and his team may adjust the trek route to prioritize safety. Trek cancellations are rare and only occur in severe weather conditions, and only after all alternative routes for a similar experience have been evaluated. Your safety is always the top priority.

Chile

Hosted by an architect, this full-day excursion analyzes Santiago’s preserved pre-colonial grid and the strategic placement of a city within a natural basin. You'll see the cathedral, Plaza de Armas, and a network of covered pedestrian galleries cutting through the city blocks, while discussing the eclecticism of the historic downtown. The itinerary continues at the Gabriela Mistral Cultural Center (built in 1972 and renovated in 2009 after a national competition), Santa Lucía Hill (the founding site of colonial Santiago), the Chilean Museum of Pre-Columbian Art (designed by Smiljan Radic), and La Moneda Cultural Center.

Diego Baloian is an architect holding a degree from the Universidad Finis Terrae and a Master's in Cultural Heritage from the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile (PUC). As the founding partner at DBG Architecture and Massantiago, his work focuses on architectural design, the restoration of heritage buildings, and urban planning. He has led and participated in projects and seminars in Chile, Argentina, Brazil, Spain, Switzerland, and Hungary. 

Diego has also organized conferences and exhibitions on Latin American architecture in collaboration with Guiding Architects Network, the American Institute of Architects (AIA), and the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zürich (ETH). 

In the academic field, he has worked with communities on research and heritage valorization projects, implementing collaborative methodologies across diverse cultural and territorial contexts.

Bertie, an English Sommelier, and Aby, an Argentine chef, are a Buenos Aires-based couple dedicated to sharing food, wine, and excellent company. Aby has been cooking traditional Argentine food since she was a child — helping at family gatherings — and Bertie has worked as a professional sommelier since 2008. 

The couple met by chance in Rio de Janeiro in 2014. What began as conversations about flavors and cultures soon grew into a partnership rooted in curiosity and hospitality. Since 2016, they’ve been running wine discovery and cooking classes together, creating meaningful experiences that celebrate regional traditions, local producers, and the joy of exploring Argentina one glass at a time. This 3-hour photography experience takes place on the periphery of Valparaíso in the Playa Ancha district. A leisurely gander brings you to Paseo 21 de Mayo—one of Valparaíso's most enthralling viewpoints. It's wise to carry cash should you wish to purchase a souvenir from the street vendors who you'll liaise with through Daniel. The route then passes through narrow streets adorned with murals and "playful" photo spots where you have a choice of sampling a completo (Chilean hot dog) or empanada and an ice cream with humble origins and a curious legacy. He works with a Canon DSLR, using 50mm and 18-55mm lenses for regular shots and a 300mm lens to capture distant subjects with clarity and depth.

In pre-Columbian times, weavers in Oaxaca worked on backstrap looms with plant-based fibers like cotton, agave, and more. Spanish invaders introduced the standing loom and silkworms, kickstarting a new tradition throughout the country.

Noticing in the early 2000s that the historical technique of creating silk was nearly extinct, a talented family dedicated themselves to reviving this incredible craft.

On this experience, you’ll visit the family’s workshop and mulberry orchard to learn about the cyclical process of silk production—from raising the worms to spinning, weaving, and creating natural dyes. You’ll try your hand at spinning, browse the family’s unique and beautiful creations, and learn about the importance of this process to both the family livelihood and legacy.

remembering his family’s orchard. “I have good memories of my mother and my sister making lots of cakes—almond cakes, and sometimes orange cakes too.”

Nothing prepares you for the disorientation - and wonderment - of the brilliance of a midnight Sun. Especially when surrounded by massive icebergs that reflect and mirror the sky and the sea.

I don't remember seeing this yesterday, I tell the boat captain, is this a new work of art? He laughs, and tells me that everyday is  a bit different. 

The midnight boat trip in end-July - as the sun sets just for a few minutes - is the best time to see the sky’s amazing colors reflected on the icebergs.

Café Tortoni

I have traveled to Moab, Utah on more than one occasion and every time it has been an absolute blast! This small, more local town is home to some amazing things that you can’t find anywhere else. 

There is a place there that I travel to every time called Mill Creek Canyon. It is a short hike to a watering hole that supplies the river you will have to cross more than once. Once you reach the watering hole, you will find an amazing view and usually many friendly people depending on what time you go. 

Now, it can get pretty hot in Utah so don’t forget the water and the sunblock, as well as a swimming suit!

The main attraction there is the cliff jumping! You can climb up the small waterfall and there will be a small ledge where you can jump from into the freezing water below. Let me tell you, it’s an absolute blast that you will never forget! 

I highly recommend this location to all people, even if you’re just passing through
