Mexico

This is Mexico’s story told through three spaces within Chapultepec, the great forest in Mexico City — a journey through its origins, empires and modern vision.

You begin at National Museum of Anthropology, one of the world’s most remarkable cultural institutions. Beneath its vast courtyard “paraguas” canopy — a concrete umbrella supported by a single column — you walk through galleries that hold Mexico’s ancient imagination and Indigenous legacy: Mexica calendar stone, Zapotec urns, Mayan reliefs. 

Then choose, in advance, between Castillo de Chapultepec, former imperial palace that crowns the hill with 19th-century grandeur, or Museo Tamayo, Mexico’s leading space for contemporary art, designed by Teodoro González de León and Abraham Zabludovsky, where raw concrete meets color and abstraction.

Mexico City’s National Museum of Anthropology is one of Latin America’s most important museums — a vital space for understanding the depth and diversity of Mexico’s cultural heritage. Opened in 1964, it preserves and celebrates the pre-Columbian civilizations that shaped the country: the Aztec, Maya, Olmec, and Zapotec. The building itself is an icon of modern Mexican architecture — a vast courtyard shaded by a monumental concrete “umbrella,” its single central column carved with mythic reliefs.

Inside, you move through galleries that feel like time slowed down. Among the most famous pieces are the Aztec Sun Stone, a massive calendar disk that encodes the Aztec cosmos, and the colossal Olmec heads carved from basalt. You’ll also encounter the intricate Maya stelae and treasures from the Tomb of Pakal the Great in Palenque — touchstones of an imagination that still defines Mexico’s identity.

Anthropology Museum

If you choose Chapultepec Castle instead of Museo Tamayo, Andrea will arrange to visit this first — so you can make the climb while the hill is still cool and shaded.

Perched high above the city, the castle commands sweeping views of the valley and stands as a symbol of Mexico’s layered history. Built in the late 18th century, it has served many lives — first as colonial palace, then as residence of Emperor Maximilian I and Empress Carlota during the Second Mexican Empire, and later as official home of Mexico’s presidents. Today, it houses the National Museum of History, where rooms are preserved with 19th-century furnishings, imperial artifacts, and murals tracing the country’s struggle for independence and revolution.

Highlights include Maximilian’s ornate chambers, the Hall of Battles, and murals by Diego Rivera and other great Mexican artists. From the terraces, weather/visibility permitting, you can see the city stretching below — green canopy to skyline.

Polanco is one of Mexico City’s most elegant and dynamic neighborhoods, known for its tree-lined streets, luxury boutiques, fine dining, and cultural richness.

After your morning exploration through Mexico’s past and modern expressions, Andrea will take you to a restaurant for an extensive lunch where you'll get to try various dishes representing some of the best of Mexico City cuisine.

From there, you visit the Sala de Arte Público Siqueiros, a remarkable insitution that preserves the experimental studio and public mission of David Alfaro Siqueiros, one of Mexico’s great muralists. Housed in the artist’s former home and workshop, the building still bears the traces of his process — large-scale murals, technical studies, and the curved walls designed for his “Polyangular” method, meant to let art move with the viewer.

You walk the line between art and activism, between creation and conviction — a fitting conclusion to the day.

The afternoon seeks to tie the day’s themes together: Mexico’s art as memory, power, and reinvention. Over lunch, the continuing conversation with Andrea helps you connect the threads — from the mythology of the Anthropology Museum, to the expression of the Tamayo, to the social conscience embodied in the work for modern artists.

With a strong focus on contemporary painting, she has curated numerous exhibitions and collaborated with a wide range of artists, from emerging voices to established names. Andrea Villers, educated in Granada, with a master's in curatorial studies, runs a consultancy that develops exhibition projects and advises on cultural strategies.

Argentina

This portrait photography session makes you the main character on the stage of Buenos Aires. Curated by a professional travel photographer whose work has been published all over the world, you will leave the activity with impeccable images commemorating your time in the Argentine capital. Bernardo is a charming host who also peppers this experience with anecdotes about the locations covered, his career as a photographer, and Porteño life. 

Bernardo typically runs this experience in the La Boca neighborhood, where you will pose to an aesthetic backdrop of colorful tenement buildings and street art around Caminito. However, the location may be changed to another barrio such as Puerto Madero, Plaza de Mayo, or Palermo Soho. Bernardo uses a full frame mirrorless camera and pro lenses in order to achieve the maximum image quality. He also uses a professional flash lighting system with diffusers when the natural light isn’t sufficient.

This private photoshoot experience is hosted by a professional travel portrait photographer from Buenos Aires. Bernardo delights just as much in showing travelers around his home city as he does helping them to capture photographic mementos from their time in the Argentine capital. As such, his photoshoot is thoughtful and unhurried, allowing plenty of time to experiment with poses, lighting, and accessorizing (if desired).

La Boca, one of the prettiest and most beguiling neighborhoods, is the stage of the photoshoot. Bernardo will be guided by the natural light, using external flashes and modifiers when needed to create a soft atmosphere for photography. He works around your preferences—suggesting spots to take the photos but also being open to any suggestions. There will be time to capture individual and group photos as well as to change clothing or add accessories. While this experience focuses on photography, Bernardo will share tales and anecdotes as you journey through La Boca.

Glide across the Venice lagoon on Davide’s vintage wooden motorboat to visit two iconic islands where craft has been a daily language for generations. First stop: Murano. Inside a family-run furnace, you’ll watch glass gather, breathe, and turn under the maestro’s tools as Davide explains and interprets techniques and guild lore. There’s time for questions and a walkthrough of the family's showrooms, where fire-shaped pieces reflect the lineage of Murano craft.

Then Burano greets you with painted facades and the fine geometry of lace. You’ll see artisans in small ateliers — needle, pillow, and pattern at work — then wander short lanes toward the bell tower and waterfront, pausing for color-drenched photographs. Throughout, Davide sets the rhythm — efficient but unhurried — ensuring you catch both the big and little aspects of island life and tradition. This 10-day Morocco journey begins and ends in Marrakesh, unfolding through coastal Essaouira and the High Atlas Mountains in between. From artistic neighborhoods and sensory rituals to ocean air and mountain trails, this itinerary invites you to see Morocco not just as a destination but as a series of living moments, each led by chefs, photographers, artisans, and storytellers.

You will take part in Sufi evenings, hands-on cooking, contemporary gallery visits, and village walks. Every stop balances exploration and stillness, allowing time to absorb, connect, and be moved by Morocco’s many layers, from rooftop views to mountain paths, from hammam steam to handcrafted silver.

DAYS 1-2 – MARRAKESH | Ease into the journey with Amanda’s Courtyard Kitchen, a warm welcome into Moroccan cooking set in a private home. Visit El Badi Palace on your own before an immersive evening of Sufi presence with live Hadra music and shared dinner. The next day focuses on the city’s creative energy. Begin with a guided art tour and curator-led meet-up at Comptoir des Mines Galerie. Spend the afternoon in Gueliz, Marrakesh’s modern district, to visit the Yves Saint Laurent Museum and Jardin Majorelle, spaces that blend color, fashion, and legacy.

DAY 3 – MARRAKESH TO ESSAOUIRA | Begin the morning with A Thousand and One Crafts, a guided walk through the artisan medina of Marrakesh. After lunch, travel west through argan country toward the coast. Essaouira is directly west of Marrakesh, a 2.5 to 3 hour drive, a straight shot to the Atlantic. It offers a gentle and relaxed pause after the intensity of Marrakesh. Arrive before sunset and take in the sea breeze.

DAYS 4-5 – ESSAOUIRA | Capture the spirit of Essaouira with Framed Essaouira, a full-day photography tour that reveals the city’s light, rhythm, and intimate angles. On the following day, dive deeper into craftsmanship with Jewelry Makers of Essaouira, a quiet and inspiring look into workshops that keep Moroccan silversmithing alive.

DAY 6 – ESSAOUIRA TO ATLAS MOUNTAINS | Today is a long but beautiful transfer from the Atlantic coast to Imlil in the High Atlas Mountains. As the terrain shifts, so does the pace. By sunset, you will be surrounded by peaks and valleys, far from city sounds.

DAYS 7-8 – ATLAS MOUNTAINS | Walk the Mule Tracks of Aremd, a soft yet panoramic hike that threads through the hills and villages near Imlil. The following day, go deeper with The Quintessential High Atlas, a guided trek that brings you into the life and rhythm of the mountains.

Built in the mid-19th century by stonemasons from the island of Anafi, who came to Athens to help construct King Otto’s palace, this neighborhood is a tranquil oasis of whitewashed houses, vibrant bougainvillea, and narrow, winding streets. Its unique blend of Cycladic architecture and urban history offers visitors a serene escape from the city’s bustling energy.

I am in Kaokoland. Final frontier of Namibia. Home to the beautiful Himba people.

The last nomadic, herding tribe in southern Africa, they still maintain their dress and traditions. Red ochre paste for sun protection. Smoke from herbs for cleansing and perfume. Intricate hairstyles. Lots of leather jewelry. A beauty routine that takes three hours every single day to complete.

This young woman graciously agrees to be my ‘model’ - and is as curious about me and my traditions as I am about hers.

Towering over the Bay of Naples, Mount Vesuvius is one of the world’s most famous volcanoes, best known for its catastrophic eruption in 79 AD that buried Pompeii and Herculaneum. Whether you're fascinated by geology or simply seeking an unforgettable hike, Vesuvius is a must-visit.

Avanos Town

The stuff that dreams are made of! Photographers’ dreams, and travelers’ dreams. Surreal and in shades of orange. “Vlei” is Afrikaans for a depression filled with water - well, it was once - but as the name suggests, this vlei has been dry for a very long time.
