This 3.5-hour photography experience takes place in two of the most beautiful and culturally rich neighborhoods in Buenos Aires: La Boca and San Telmo. Led by a professional travel photographer from Buenos Aires, you will explore these streets with your own camera and learn how to capture the kinds of imagery usually seen in guidebooks and brochures. The highlight is a private, exclusive performance by the Coro Gabriel, one of Sardinia’s oldest vocal ensembles. They sing the tasgia, a rare polyphonic chant that evolved from the UNESCO-listed canto a tenore. Unlike its predecessor, the tasgia features all four voices singing lyrics and includes improvisational shifts in tone and harmony, echoing elements of jazz. With fewer than twenty practitioners left, this is a rare chance to hear it live.

Gianmario, a native of Tempio and a member of the choir, shares insights into this evolving tradition. His ties to the group offer an intimate perspective on Sardinian culture, set in the town that has long been the cultural heart of Gallura.

She needed an internship for her thesis and chose Barcelona without expecting how quickly she’d feel at home.“Barcelona, 22 years ago, was a different place,” she says. “It was less cosmopolitan, more local. I remember wandering through narrow streets and finding tiny bars with real flamenco. It felt genuinely lived in.”
 “Tourism has definitely changed things,” she admits. “Places like La Rambla are overcrowded. Many locals have been pushed out by the rise in tourist rentals. But Catalans are proud of their traditions. They’ve started resisting these changes to preserve the city’s character.” That character is what Manila has grown to love. “I chose Barcelona because I felt an immediate connection. The Mediterranean lifestyle, the weather, the proximity to mountains and sea — it feels like home but also stretches me outside my comfort zone.” She relishes the contrast to her native Sicily. “I can take a train and be skiing in the Pyrenees in just over an hour. Where else do you get that?”
What keeps her in Barcelona is the balance of tradition and openness. “The cuisine, the olive groves, the vineyards — they remind me of southern Italy, but they’re uniquely Catalan.” And the city’s connectivity has made it easy to stay rooted while maintaining close ties to Italy. She speaks with admiration about the people: “Catalans are proud, resilient, and united. They have a strong sense of identity and community. Whether through demonstrations or cultural festivals, they come together. They’re efficient and organized, but also keep that relaxed Mediterranean vibe. It’s a unique combination.”

Next to it, the Royal Chapel (Capilla Real) houses the tombs of Queen Isabella I and King Ferdinand II, the Catholic Monarchs who completed the unification of Spain. The Generalife Palace, located in the Alhambra complex in Granada, Spain, is a stunning example of Islamic architecture and one of the most beautiful parts of this UNESCO World Heritage site. Originally built in the 13th century as a summer palace and retreat for the Nasrid sultans, the Generalife is renowned for its lush gardens, tranquil courtyards, and spectacular views of Granada and the surrounding mountains. Its name, derived from Arabic, means “Garden of the Architect,” reflecting its harmonious blend of architecture and nature.


Highlights of the Generalife Palace:

1. Patio de la Acequia: This stunning courtyard is the heart of the Generalife. With a long central pool framed by water jets, fountains, flowerbeds, and lush greenery, it exemplifies the traditional Moorish use of water to create a peaceful atmosphere. The sounds of running water combined with the vibrant gardens make it a serene spot for reflection.

2. Jardines del Generalife: The gardens surrounding the palace are an oasis of greenery and tranquility. These meticulously designed gardens feature elegant paths, clipped hedges, rose bushes, and orange trees. With the backdrop of the Sierra Nevada mountains, the gardens offer breathtaking views and a perfect space for a leisurely stroll.

The town Is made for walking with stone arches In bold colors, baroque architecture, churches from Spain and vibrant markets bursting with colorful woven garments like ponchos, hats & table cloth and handicrafts.

It’s the birthplace of chocolate 🍫 and there are several museums that teach how the Mayans made ‘the food of the gods’. Adjoining chocolate cafes serve decadent treats and chocolate liqueur.

The coffee ☕️ is divine too and apart from sampling the local shops, we visited a local plantation to learn about coffee making.

Antigua is one of our favorite Central American cities.

It wasn't until the 12th century that it expanded to its current size under Doge Sebastiano Ziani. Around you, the Byzantine Saint Mark’s Basilica stands as a testament to Venice's rich history, originally founded in 828 AD to house the relics of Saint Mark, brought from Alexandria.

The delta is clearly a fluke of nature, and the way to appreciate it best is from the air, especially in June and July when you can see the progress of the rain water flooding into the area and turning it into a lush paradise teeming with wildlife. 

It’s a very special place.

Lion vs. Buffalo

Morocco

Fez, Morocco, is home to the Karaouine Mosque and University, one of the most significant religious and educational institutions in the Islamic world. Founded in 859 AD, it is recognized by UNESCO and the Guinness World Records as the oldest continually operating university in the world. This architectural and spiritual masterpiece has long been a center of knowledge, attracting scholars from across the Muslim world. While non-Muslims cannot enter the mosque, its stunning green-tiled roofs, intricate stucco work, and grand archways can be admired from various viewpoints in Fez’s medina.

1. The exquisite courtyard, adorned with delicate mosaics and marble fountains, reflects traditional Moroccan craftsmanship and serves as a peaceful retreat for worshippers and students.

2. The library, one of the oldest in the world, houses priceless manuscripts, including works by Avicenna and Ibn Khaldun, preserving centuries of knowledge and scholarship.

3. The mosque’s grand prayer hall, featuring endless rows of horseshoe arches and a striking mihrab, stands as a testament to classic Moorish and Andalusian design.

4. The university’s historical influence on science, mathematics, and philosophy shaped intellectual development in both the Islamic world and medieval Europe.

5. From nearby terraces and rooftops, panoramic views of the mosque’s green roofs and minaret provide a stunning perspective of Fez’s historic skyline.

Visitor Tip: For the best views, visit the Bou Inania Madrasa or nearby cafés that offer rooftop terraces overlooking the mosque complex. Early morning visits provide the best lighting for photography.

Karaouine Mosque

In Marrakech, explore the labyrinth of the medina, lined with market stalls and craftspeople, and full of secret places and contradictions. 

Anonymous, windowless, fortress-like walls enclose luxurious riads built around tiled courtyards, complete with fountains and gardens.

Happily, my wonderful guide Khadija of Morocco Private Experience, encourages my curiosity. She leads the way across the medieval labyrinth of chaotic alleyways - to the souks where centuries-old skills continue to flourish. 

I am intrigued about how all the craftspeople are clustered together by trade. We watch a metal craftsman shape a pair of gnawa cymbals. A leatherworker allows me inside his workshop for a better view. There is an entire street of ornate lantern sellers - the bronze-latticed lanterns competing with the palm-leafed roofs of the souks in throwing light-and-shadow patterns all around.

Heart and Souk

Catalonia, Spain, is home to the stunning Parc Natural del Delta de l’Ebre, the largest wetland in Catalonia and one of the most important birdwatching sites in Europe. Formed by sediment deposits from the Ebro River, this protected area features a unique landscape of salt flats, lagoons, rice paddies, and pristine beaches. The park is a haven for nature lovers, offering opportunities for birdwatching, cycling, hiking, and boat tours while providing a peaceful escape into Catalonia’s rich biodiversity.


1. Birdwatching: Home to over 300 bird species, including vibrant flamingos, herons, and rare migratory birds, the park is a paradise for wildlife photographers and nature enthusiasts.

2. Punta del Fangar: This remote, desert-like peninsula offers scenic views of shifting dunes, a historic lighthouse, and peaceful, uncrowded beaches perfect for walking and photography.

3. Rice Fields: The park’s extensive rice paddies provide a glimpse into traditional Catalan agriculture and are particularly beautiful during planting and harvesting seasons.

4. Boat Tours on the Ebro River: Enjoy scenic boat rides that offer a unique perspective of the delta’s waterways and wildlife, with options for sunset tours for photographers.

5. Eco-friendly Cycling Routes: Explore the park’s diverse habitats via its network of cycling trails, which take you past lagoons, marshes, and observation towers for birdwatching.

Visitor Tip: Visit in spring or autumn for the best birdwatching experience and cooler temperatures. Bring binoculars, sunscreen, and insect repellent, especially during the summer months when mosquitoes are common.

Parc del Delta de l’Ebre

Philippines

This was my first time visiting Gigantes Islands, and I was struck by the raw beauty of its cliffs and crystal-clear waters that surround its secluded beaches. There are several islands that you can hop in to and my favorite one is what the locals call the “mini boracay” because the sand sure feels like that in Boracay. Other islands are as equally awesome like the Bantigue sandbar, and Cabugay. We also explored the local neighborhood and sure has its own interesting stories. For one, I discovered that due to the abundance of scallops in the island, there’s a neighborhood that stands on a land area that’s made up of scallop shells that is meters thick! Just imagine how much scallops shells that would’ve taken. There’s a lot to explore but if you just want something that’s relaxed, you can just have a good beer by the beach from sunset til night. 

Gigantes Islands

Siurana is a stunning medieval village perched atop a cliff in Catalonia, offering spectacular views of the surrounding mountains and valleys. This tiny village is a haven for history buffs, climbers, and anyone seeking a serene escape.
1. The narrow cobblestone streets and stone buildings retain the village’s medieval charm.
2. Views from the cliffside are breathtaking, overlooking the Siurana Reservoir.
3. The village’s small church, Santa Maria de Siurana, is a beautiful historic landmark.
4. Siurana is also famous for its rock climbing, with world-class climbing routes nearby.
5. The surrounding countryside offers hiking trails and opportunities for outdoor exploration.

Visitor Tip: Wear comfortable shoes and bring a camera to capture the incredible views and charming streets.
