In Saint-Rémy-de-Provence, the day begins just outside the village at the Monastère Saint-Paul de Mausole, a former monastery that housed the psychiatric institution where Van Gogh stayed from 1889 to 1890. Here, the fields, olive groves, and cypress trees are not distant scenery but the same subjects he painted again and again, within walking distance of his room. Chile

This 3.8 km (2.4 miles) hike is staged in the dramatic Vilama River Canyon, also known as Cactus Canyon or Cactus Valley. This volcanic canyon is carved by the junction of the Puritama River — which means "hot water" in the Kunza language — and the "cold water" Puripica River. This unique mix creates an oasis that supports the highest concentration of the giant, tree-like cactus species, Echinopsis Atacamensis (Cardón). 

After a 35-minute drive from San Pedro, the circuit usually takes between 2.5 to 3 hours. Although you'll maintain a leisurely pace, this trek has a "moderate difficulty" rating, and requires physical stability and hiking experience. The terrain is uneven at times and requires the occasional use of hands to navigate rocky boulders. The route involves several river crossings (summer rain sees the maximum water level reach knee-height) and high elevation/temperatures. These components foster an immersive hiking experience with high potential for spotting local birds. 

Cactus Valley is a living ecosystem where giant cacti have thrived for centuries. Those passionate about natural history will feel in their element here—particularly as your guide is an expert on the Atacama Desert's geology, flora, and fauna. While steering you through this surreal environment, Valeria will share her knowledge of the different formations and how the confluence of the "hot" and "cold" rivers created a one-of-a-kind ecosystem. She will point out native bird species feeding on the desert flora and bathing in the water. Sightings may include the greenish-yellow finch, the variable hawk, mountain parakeets, and the black-billed shrike tyrant.

Hiking in the Atacama Desert comes with challenges relating to the arid atmosphere and high elevation. Although rated "moderate", this hike proves far more engaging than the average sightseeing tour. First of all, we will meet with the attendees at our puppet museum located in, Faikpaşa Caddesi which is full of old buildings, antique and creative stores. We will make a small tour for the collection we have in the puppet museum from all over the world. After the small tour, we will have local tea and cookies with the attendees. We will start to explain the written history that we have from the beginning 16th century: how Karagöz traveled, how he expanded and how he lives today.  
Then we will get our tools to experience the process of making: 
- Deciding which part of Karagöz will be made, 
- shaping the camel leather with special tools(cutting, carving, piercing) 
- Painting the figure

Finally, with a full figure, all attendees see and experience of acting the figure on a shadow theatre curtain.

Tara Salt Flats

Santa Maria del Mar, known as the "Cathedral of La Ribera" in Barcelona, is a sterling example of pure Catalan Gothic architecture, distinguished by its harmonious proportions and serene ambiance. Completed rapidly for a medieval church, between 1329 and 1384, it maintains a stylistic purity rare for the era due to its construction within just 55 years. The church's interior, marked by its vast, open spaces and the widest column spacing of any Gothic church in Europe, creates an impression of sublime width, height, and airiness​​​​. It’s our favorite church in Barcelona, here’s why:
1: The church's interior is notably sparse in imagery, a result of damage from a fire in 1936 during anticlerical disturbances. Despite this loss, including the destruction of the Baroque retable by Deodat Casanoves and Salvador Gurri, some stained-glass windows from various periods have survived, contributing to the church's luminous atmosphere​​.
2: The basilica's design boasts very tall slender columns that are 13 meters apart, supporting three naves of equal height. This unique structural approach contributes to the church's feeling of spaciousness, with its maximum height matching its total width at 100 medieval feet​​​​.
3: Rooftop Terrace Tour: Available from May to October, the tour offers insights into the church's construction, history, and the surrounding La Ribera neighborhood. 
4: Santa Maria del Mar is a beacon of Barcelona's rich maritime and mercantile history. Its pure Catalan Gothic style, and the communal effort symbolized by the 'bastaixos' carved on its doors, speak to a deep connection between the city's people and this venerable basilica.

The Ribeira District and Barredo Quarter together form a captivating and historical area along the Douro River in Porto. This picturesque neighborhood is celebrated for its cultural vibrancy, architectural beauty, and riverside charm. Highlights include:

Jamaica

Jake’s is a Jamaican treasure. In fact, where it’s located is actually called Treasure Beach. 

Getting there from Montego Bay Airport takes a full two and a half hours on rough country roads - more than three if you stop at the jerk chicken place as we did. We stayed in a colorful bohemian cottage on the sea and tasted our first Ackee and Codfish - Jamaica’s breakfast dish - here. 

The evenings are for crooning to live music - reggae or calypso — before falling asleep to the sound of the waves breaking on the rocks literally at your feet.
