Bahía de Kino is a peaceful fishing town on the Sea of Cortez. You’ll arrive by private car after crossing the Sonoran Desert with your local guides from Hermosillo, ready to immerse yourself in the culture of the Seri, or Comcáac, who have called this region home for around 2,000 years.

Conducted in collaboration with both Mexican and Comcáac hosts, this experience offers a rare opportunity for meaningful cultural exchange. After a scenic 1.5-hour drive from Hermosillo, you’ll arrive in Bahía de Kino, where your cultural immersion begins. Your first stop is the Museo de los Seris, guided by a local Seri community member who will share stories of resistance, tradition, and the evolution of Comcáac (Seri) identity. You'll explore the pueblo’s unique cosmology — its worldview rooted in land, sea, and ancestral knowledge — and gain insight into the linguistic and cultural preservation efforts still active today.

You’ll also take a guided walk through town to observe how fishing continues to shape Seri life, and learn about the social structures and values that define the community. Alex and Rocío have been running tours along the U.S.–Mexico borderlands for many years, primarily as a way to share positive, accurate information about the region they call home. Beginning in 2019 with efforts to disseminate local history, they soon expanded to offering tours and experiences that connect visitors with communities on both sides of the border.

Alex’s earliest memory is a family visit to Tijuana—an experience that sparked a lasting fascination with the people and heritage of Mexico. While at university, he focused his studies and research on the Hispanic cultural heritage of the American Southwest and Mexico.

Rocío is a graphic designer who has managed communications projects for a range of institutions, including government agencies and nonprofits in both the U.S. and Mexico. She loves sharing the diversity and richness of the region through visual storytelling.
