To start, Cristian "Tatán" Mellado will walk you through Santiago's meat, fresh produce, and fish markets while explaining their history. After this walking tour, you will stop by the Bellavista and Isidora Goyenechea districts and learn about the gastronomical scene—this is an opportunity to pick up restaurant recommendations. Upon arrival at Tatán's apartment, you will receive a welcome cocktail with oysters (or equivalent) from the Pacific Ocean. This 4-hour private mosaic-making experience takes place in the studio of international muralist, Shannon McEvoy. Under Shannon's guidance, you will design and fabricate a personal mosaic artwork to take home as a memento of your time in Chile. You may choose to create an abstract exploration of shape and color or work from a simple design inspired by common themes in Shannon's art including Chilean flora and fauna. Improvisation is encouraged.

All necessary materials and equipment are provided and Shannon will work with you to help you bring your vision to fruition. After the activity concludes, Shannon will grout your mosaic tile and help you to arrange the pick-up from her studio 48+ hours later.

During the workshop, you'll hear about the significance of mosaics in Chile – a country famed for its street art and murals. You will also hear about Shannon's role as a mosaic muralist working in Santiago, Puente Alto (the Mosaic Capital of the Southern Hemisphere), and beyond.

This experience invites you into the private studio of an artist in Santiago to create your own Chile-inspired mosaic artwork. This may be of an abstract style or inspired by Chilean flora and fauna. You may choose to collaborate with your travel partner and create one mosaic as a team or create individual masterpieces.

Over the course of the workshop, you will learn the fundamentals of mosaic techniques as Shannon helps you assemble your artwork. As an artistic director, Shannon collaborates with Chilean muralists and champions the community aspect of creation and that art is for everyone. This experience takes place in Shannon's studio in Providencia, Santiago de Chile. The exact address to is provided after booking. If traveling by metro, take Line 1 and alight at either Pedro de Valdivia or Manuel Montt. It's a 15-minute walk to Shannon’s studio from either station. Shannon is a multimedia artist who loves exploring different languages and cultures, meeting new people, and listening to their stories. Originally from Minnesota, she studied abroad in Viña del Mar in 2010. The country and its people left a lasting impression on her, and she quickly returned after graduation. The street art of Valparaíso influenced her so profoundly that she incorporated Chilean muralism into her undergraduate Honors Thesis and pursued a career as a muralist.

Shannon has lived in Chile for over 10 years, where she teaches English and creates murals—but her talents don’t stop there. She also paints, sketches, makes ceramics and jewelry, designs her own clothes, and experiments with photography.

Shannon loves sharing her passions for art and language. To her, both are about expressing oneself and building meaningful connections. Bilingual in English and Spanish, she also speaks basic Portuguese.

Mexico

In this studio visit you'll meet an architect who is playing with ways to use objects the city leaves behind — cement blocks, plastic crates, shattered tiles, and other things that often slip into invisibility. 

Inspired by his background in environmental design, Javier transforms such fragments into sculptural furniture such as chairs, tables and shelves. Each piece is a constellation of temporalities and forgotten stories, a collection and reconfiguration of objects found throughout CDMX, which Javier sources himself.

Javier will welcome you to his studio and share his process, sharing how walking, gathering, and assembling have become methods to map the city and its leftovers. He'll discuss what his design work says about Mexico City, and also how he's approached this work in other cities such as London, where he's been an artist in residence. 

The experience offers a unique window into how design can be responsive, situated and radically resourceful, as well as being sculptural.

This exclusive experience offers rare access to Javier's studio in central Mexico City, where objects in various stages of development reveal the intuitive and speculative nature of his work. Every piece is singular and made with wild, non-standard measurements and joined using simple, reversible techniques. More than a studio tour, this visit is a conversation on contemporary design, ecological imagination, and the aesthetics of reuse — a slow, thoughtful look at the anatomy of urban space through its overlooked material life.

In this process, he engages with concepts such as degrowth, living otherwise, and post-development, questioning the role of art, design and construction in relation to sustainability and community.

Through direct contact with the city, Javier's practice transforms discarded objects into local resources, creating not only tactical approaches to construction but also serving as traces of life and local processes within the city: revealing stories.

In 2023, he founded Ex Soup, an art and design experiment based in Mexico City that uses walking, urban wandering, and low-tech methods to collect and reassemble the city’s remains.

When asked about his love for Lisbon, Tiago’s enthusiasm is immediate: “I love my city! I really love the historic center of Lisbon!” Though he didn’t always feel that way. Growing up on the city’s outskirts, it wasn’t until returning after time abroad that he saw it anew. “It was as a young and independent adult with an arts and architecture degree, and with the enthusiasm to explore — that I realized how beautiful, diverse, and interesting my city is.”
For Tiago, connecting with a culture means full immersion. “You have to experience it with open eyes, heart, and mind,” he says. That means talking to locals, walking unfamiliar routes, listening more than looking. “Lisbon isn’t just to be seen, but touched, smelled, and tasted.” It’s not a checklist—it’s a presence.
He also names two challenges: First, Lisbon’s historic neighborhoods are deeply distinct—each like its own mini-city. “Lisbon is multidimensional. It cannot—and should not—be rushed.” Second, mass tourism threatens the local character he cherishes. Responsible travel, he says, is essential to preserve the culture.
As tourism evolves, Tiago points toward Lisbon’s under-known strengths. “Gastronomy, street art, tiles, contemporary architecture… there’s so much more to discover!”

Greece

Amfissa, Greece, is home to the Lion of Bavaria Monument, a lesser-known but historically significant statue that commemorates the close ties between Greece and Bavaria in the 19th century. Mycenae Archaeological Site

Embark on a historical journey at Silves Castle, a prominent Moorish fortress in the Algarve. Perched atop a hill in the town of Silves, this castle is a testament to the region's rich Islamic and Christian heritage. Known for its distinctive red sandstone walls and remarkable preservation, the castle offers an insightful glimpse into the Algarve's past. Top highlights:

Silves Castle is open to visitors year-round and the town of Silves itself is rich in history, offering additional attractions such as the Gothic Silves Cathedral and the Archaeological Museum. The castle is easily accessible by car, and it's recommended to visit by this means due to limited public transportation options.

Each evening, we wait for sunset to happen ... in fact the whole town stops whatever they are doing and gathers near the edges of the cliffs In Oia. 

It’s a ritual that we quickly make our own. We time our dinner, walks and activities so that we can get a prime seat to watch the performance. On the odd day that we miss it ... being on the wrong side of the caldera ... we feel we’ve missed a significant event in our day.

The Süleymaniye Mosque, perched on Istanbul’s Third Hill, is a masterpiece of Ottoman architecture and one of the city’s most iconic landmarks. Designed by the renowned architect Mimar Sinan for Sultan Süleyman the Magnificent, this grand mosque complex combines elegance, spiritual serenity, and historical significance. Its striking silhouette dominates the skyline, while the tranquil courtyards and sweeping views make it a favorite for visitors and locals alike.

El Pópulo District

The area around Évora, a UNESCO World Heritage city with Roman, medieval, and contemporary layers of history, is particularly rich in these prehistoric sites. Exploring the ancient megaliths of Alentejo and the medieval walled city of Évora allows visitors to travel through time—from Neolithic rituals to Roman conquests, Gothic architecture, and beyond.

Çavuşin Old Village, perched on the edge of Cappadocia’s rugged landscape, offers a fascinating glimpse into the region’s history with its abandoned stone houses and striking hilltop views.
1. Church of St. John the Baptist: Visit one of the oldest and largest churches in Cappadocia, perched high on a hill. Its dramatic location and well-preserved frescoes make it a highlight of any visit.
2. Abandoned Village Houses: Wander among the village’s abandoned stone homes, which evoke a sense of nostalgia and offer insight into the area’s historical way of life.
3. Panoramic Views: Climb to the village’s higher points to enjoy sweeping views of the surrounding valleys and rock formations.

Çavuşin Old Village

Australia

The best thing about visiting Australia is that scenic views and spectacular nature are just a stone's throw away, no matter where you are. If you're in Sydney, you won't get a better view of the ocean than walking through Royal National Park and taking Bundeena Drive to Marley Walk.

Passing through scenic heathland with small trees, you'll soon come to a bushwalk through a denser forest. We saw many native bird species, including the famous cockatoo, had a dip in one of the pools along the way, and took stunning sunset photos as you look out over the wild ocean. The tourist highlight is Wedding Cake Rock, but our personal star was Marley Beach, a dreamy, hidden sandy beach where you can relax and dip your feet in the refreshing water.

You can rent a car and drive directly to Bundeena, but we decided to take the train from Sydney to Cronulla and from there take the ferry to Bundeena.

2. Historical Evolution: The stadium's construction began in October 1944 and was completed in 1947. Initially named Estadio Real Madrid Club de Fútbol, it was later renamed to honor Santiago Bernabéu in 1955. 
3. Architectural Design and Renovations: Designed by architects Manuel Muñoz Monasterio and Luis Alemany Soler, the stadium is notable for its impressive architectural design. Renovations for the 1982 FIFA World Cup introduced a new roof covering most seating areas and modernized facilities.
4. Record-Breaking Venue: The stadium has hosted four European Cup/UEFA Champions League finals and other significant matches, including the final of the 1982 FIFA World Cup.
