This workshop offers a first-hand experience of all the steps involved in the creation of the emblematic tapas of Spain. You’ll see the journey of creating a selection of tapas from market to the table. You will prepare the tapas under the guidance of the chef, who will explain the geographical origin of each dish, and share interesting facts and creative possibilities for their preparation. The hands-on experience is a crucial element. Following the preparation, there's the joy of tasting the creations, paired with traditional Spanish wines. The workshop consists of the following traditional dishes: Bread with tomatoes, Gazpacho (tomatoes cold soup) – Seasonal, Escalivada (Flame-grilles vegetables), Potatoes Spanish omelette, Piquillo peppers stuffed with tuna mousse, Montadito of chistorra and quail egg, Montadito of sausage with allioli and pear, Squid with onions, Dessert: Catalan cream. The story created for you intertwines the history of the locality, Dubrovnik renascence villas in general, the customs of the Dubrovnik countryside villages throughout history, explanation of olive oil production by the villa olive mill, interesting information about the diversity of plants, their usage & myths, biology and beauty. For families with children throughout the visit the tour is adjusted with interactive and creative content through which kids learn about nature and have fun at the same time.
Afterwards we are having a picnic in a beautiful palm meadow in the shades of the trees. Food served is explicitly ecological from our family farm and the ones nearby. All that is served is fresh homemade traditional food of the region.

Japan

Step inside a working Buddhist temple in Osaka and spend several hours following the rhythms of a monk’s day. You’ll meet your hosts - a practicing monk who also works as an architect, and Zane, who has spent ten years in Japan studying religious and cultural traditions. Then you’ll change into the traditional robes of a monk and begin a series of mindful rituals.

First, a guided meditation and the practice of shakyo: hand-copying sutras in the form of kanji characters using brush and ink. This is a daily ritual for monks, intended to steady the mind before service. Outside, you’ll assist in sweeping the temple grounds - a brief, meaningful act of service and discipline.

Midday, you’ll share a shojin ryori meal: a simple, seasonal vegetarian lunch prepared in the Buddhist tradition. Zane provides translation, insights and context throughout.

At the end of the day, you’ll receive either a goshuin (temple stamp) or omamori (amulet)—a small marker of your day as a monk in Osaka.

Most introductions to monastic life in Japan take place in rural retreats. This temple is an active religious site in the grid of central Osaka. You’ll speak with the monks about their lives, explore the overlaps and tensions between secular and spiritual paths, and observe how Buddhist tradition is preserved and adapted in a modern context.

The monk who leads the experience also works as an architect. His approach integrates design with ritual. His wife prepares the mid-day meal using principles of shojin ryori passed down through temple tradition. Zane, who has spent a decade in Japan, helps translate both language and context, offering interpretation that clarifies without interrupting the cadence of the day.

This experience exists because of their friendship. The access comes through trust and invitation. Their hospitality and passion for sharing Japanese culture are generous. You’ll come away with insight and understanding of a world that usually stays closed to outsiders.

Your host, Zane, will meet you at Tanimachi 9-chome Subway Station (Exit 3) and walk with you to the temple grounds.

The experience is co-led by a temple monk who also works as an architect. He is passionate about blending modern design with tradition and along with his wife, who was born into a temple family, works to promote Japanese culture by creating various events such as tea ceremonies. 

Your co-host is Zane, a resident of Japan for 10 years originally from New York. His passion for learning about traditional Japanese culture and sharing it with overseas visitors has led him to close collaborations with Japanese people to share unique experiences for visitors to Japan. Zane also practices Japanese calligraphy and has a workshop in Kyoto.

Morocco

This exclusive experience offers rare access to the spiritual and musical traditions of Gnawa, hosted in an atmospheric riad or a zaouia—used by Gnawa as a sacred gathering place. It begins with a guided conversation led by a Maâlem (master musician) and his ensemble, tracing Gnawa’s fusion of West African, Berber and Islamic influences. You’ll learn about the spiritual meanings behind each song—how colors are chosen to express emotion—and the symbolism of traditional instruments like guembri, qraqeb, and tbel.

The experience builds toward a live acoustic performance, showcasing hypnotic, looping rhythms and layered textures that give Gnawa its trance-like power. Each song holds a story, a color, and a mood. After the performance, you’ll share a homemade Moroccan dinner and open conversation with the musicians—a chance to ask questions and connect on a personal level in an intimate, sacred space.

This experience is a window into the living soul of Gnawa culture, offered by some of the few true practitioners still transmitting its depth and meaning. Many Gnawa performances today cater to tourists and lose the tradition’s spiritual essence. This private session reconnects you with the roots of Gnawa: music as ritual, healing, and ancestral storytelling.

You’ll engage directly with a Maâlem and his ensemble in an intimate setting rarely open to outsiders. Their music is played—and it’s explained, felt, and shared. You’ll explore the emotional resonance of each song, the stories behind the colors of the emotions, and the communal nature of Gnawa ceremonies.

Walking with the Zu/’hoasi Bushmen of the Makgadikgadi Plains in the Central Kalahari, quintessential hunter-gatherers, I learned several things that I hope never to have to use - how to pronounce first names that are laden with clicks, collect plants for medicinal recipes, dig for scorpions, and make a fire with twigs and leaves.

Makgadikgadi means 'dry, dry', but the bush men and women know how to live in harmony with the land. Family and cultural ties are strong.

Moda, a charming neighborhood in Kadıköy on Istanbul’s Asian side, offers a refreshing escape from the city’s bustling European quarter. Known for its bohemian vibe and laid-back ambiance, Moda is the perfect spot for leisurely seaside strolls, sipping coffee in trendy cafes, and soaking in the local culture. Accessible by ferry, this vibrant area combines stunning waterfront views with a creative, artsy spirit that’s irresistible to locals and visitors alike.

On the epic Ring Road drive (A1) in East Iceland, there’s a black sand beach called Stokksnes, just a few kilometres from Höfn. 

A gravel road gets you to a tiny cafeteria - where you can pay a small fee to drive further in till the edge of the water. 

Volcanic black sand dunes, Tall green grasses. Waves breaking on the rocks. Wind. Reflections in the water. Incredible beauty. Pure zen.

Pinacoteca di Brera is one of Milan's most prestigious art galleries, housing a significant collection of Italian and foreign art from the 13th to the 20th century. Located in the Palazzo di Brera, which dates back to the late Baroque period and was built on the remains of a 14th-century monastery, the Pinacoteca shares its space with the Academy of Fine Arts. Why is this a cool place to visit?
Historical Significance: The gallery was born out of a political action, distinct from other major Italian museums that originated from private collections of monarchs or noble families. The Brera Gallery was officially established in 1809, although its first collection existed from 1776 alongside the Accademia di Belle Arti, instituted by Maria Theresa of Austria. 

Notable Masterpieces: The Pinacoteca di Brera's collection includes several world-renowned masterpieces. Some of the top paintings housed in the gallery are "The Marriage of the Virgin" by Raphael, "The Feast in the House of Simon" by Paolo Veronese, "Supper at Emmaus" by Caravaggio, "Last Supper" by Peter Paul Rubens, and "The Kiss" by Francesco Hayez. Once a rural village, Coyoacán has retained its small-town charm despite being part of the sprawling capital. Tacos al pastor, elotes, chilaquiles, quesadillas, ceviche – the list goes on, because Mexican food is not only tasty but offers hundreds of different things to try. Anyone visiting Mexico City must, by all means, do a street food tour – a culinary and cultural adventure.

If you want a more adventurous Mexico City street food experience, there's no better place to venture than Mercado de San Juan, known for serving up crawlies and edible insects. 

Famous for being Frida Kahlo’s weekly shopping spot, Mercado Coyoacán is a little more expensive, but once you've tried the Tostadas de Coyoacán or fresh pulpo, you’ll forget about the price. For more hipster, upper-class street food, you can also try Mercado Roma – I’ve had some delicious sweet Pan de Los Muertos.
