After a welcome drink, the guests are taken to the forest for a truffle hunt with the family's specially trained dogs. A three-course, all truffle-based brunch follows, accompanied by a short lecture on truffle hunting. Before the departure, the guests get to visit the family's shop with a wide assortment of truffle-based products.

Andrea — an anthropologist and longtime resident of Coyoacán with family roots in Guerrero — begins with a brief walk near her studio in a neighborhood shaped by the encounter of colonial and Indigenous cultures — the roots from which mezcal emerged.

Back at her studio, you’ll taste three distinct mezcals from Guerrero, each carefully selected by Andrea. As you sip, she shares the cultural context behind each variety — from the agave species to traditional distillation methods. You’ll learn how to “kiss” the mezcal, as Spanish speakers say — a slow, attentive tasting style that reveals each glass’s unique character. Each mezcal is paired with locally inspired bites, drawing on the Guerrero heritage Andrea brings to both her cooking and design, and curated to enhance and echo the complexity of the spirits.

The setting is relaxed, the guidance personal, and the flavors unforgettable. This is a rare introduction to mezcal by someone who lives and breathes its culture. Andrea has spent years sourcing, bottling, and sharing small-batch mezcal from Guerrero. Meet Andrea at the yellow old arcs of the Church on San Juan Bautista that are located in the famous Coyoacán Plaza near the Coyote fountain.

Andrea is an anthropologist by training, Master Mezcalier by trade, and a singer. She has fifteen years of experience promoting Guerrero State's mezcal culture and traditions, an area not typically associated with mezcal, but with plenty of flavors that are a joy to discover.

Andrea's own work in mezcal emerged from an extensive family history, where numerous memories and experiences have been intrinsically linked to the enjoyment of this spirit, always accompanied by good food and music. Since 2010, Andrea has been an integral part of the new narrative being woven around mezcal from Guerrero, actively contributing to its recognition and appreciation both nationally and internationally. 

Andrea's knowledge encompasses not only the specific culture of Guerrero, but extends to the diverse traditions that exist throughout the length and breadth of Mexico. She is certified as a Master Mezcalier and as a Leader in Food and Beverage Sensory Evaluation.

Chile

This full-day outing from Santiago takes you to the coastal city of Valparaíso, designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site for its unique topography, cultural diversity, and layered architectural heritage. Hosted by a professional architect, you will be shown around the colorful Cerro Concepción and Cerro Alegre, visiting such emblematic viewpoints as Paseo Gervasoni, Paseo Atkinson, and Paseo Yugoslavo. You'll learn how the historic El Peral funicular and Baburizza Palace exist alongside other contemporary cultural projects that reflect the city’s ongoing revitalization. Among these, you'll survey the recently opened Immigrant Museum—installed in a restored former German school.

After lunch, Diego will take you to the Cerro Cárcel Cultural Park—an open, community-oriented space housed in a former prison. Nearby, you'll visit Dinamarca399, a collaborative workspace and innovation hub situated next to the historic Dissidents’ Cemetery. All locations are seen from the lens of an architect.

The port city of Valparaíso unfolds like a natural amphitheater facing the Pacific Ocean, where topographical conditions became opportunities for architectural innovation. This tour, designed and hosted by a Chilean architect, highlights how Valparaíso reimagines its built environment through adaptive reuse—linking past and present in a dynamic and complex urban landscape. Diego will discuss how the city’s urban fabric portrays a dense layering of architectural, historical, and social traces. 

As an architect, Diego has a unique perspective on Valparaíso. Rather than brushing past the viewpoints and storied homes, you will scratch beneath the surface and come to understand how the intricate systems of terraced public spaces and narrow passageways reveal a singular approach to inhabiting the landscape. Diego Baloian is an architect holding a degree from the Universidad Finis Terrae and a Master's in Cultural Heritage from the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile (PUC). As the founding partner at DBG Architecture and Massantiago, his work focuses on architectural design, the restoration of heritage buildings, and urban planning. He has led and participated in projects and seminars in Chile, Argentina, Brazil, Spain, Switzerland, and Hungary. 

Diego has also organized conferences and exhibitions on Latin American architecture in collaboration with Guiding Architects Network, the American Institute of Architects (AIA), and the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zürich (ETH). You start at the Bizkaia Bridge in Getxo, a UNESCO World Heritage site and symbol of the region’s industrial legacy. From there, continue inland to Guernica, the town made famous by Picasso's legendary anti-war painting - find out how the area was impacted by the Civil War.

Your first stop will be to the Puente Bizkaia, one of the area's most iconic industrial monuments. This is a great starting point for understanding the Basuqe Country's industrial history and character. From the top, you'll also get stunning views of the river and surrounding valley. In the town of Getxo (which the bridge takes you to) you will see examples of 19th mansions, built by the wealth accumulated by the area's industrial magnates.

Next, you'll be driven to Guernica, the subject of Picasso's anti-war and anti-fascist painting which hangs in Madrid's Reina Sofia. Here, you'll be taken on a walking tour through the town and into the assembly house. This provides the perfect excuse to find out more about Basque culture, history, and language.

Bilbao History 101

The Bay of Biscay is famous for its beautiful coastline, beaches, and food. At Mundaka you'll stop off for a panaromic view, which changes dramatically between low tide and high tide. You'll then be taken to the historic town of Bermeo for a walking tour.

Heading inland you'll find two examples of Basque artistry. Santimamiñe is a cave that contains Paleolithic paintings and engravings dating back 14,000. These depictions of bison, horses, and deer give us a glimpse into a prehistoric world. This cave is only accessible April-October. Meanwhile, nearby, in the Bosque de Oma you'll find pine tress painted by Basque artist Agustín Ibarrola in the 1980s.  The geometric shapes, eyes, animals, and colorful forms you'll find here change depending on where you're standing, playing with your perspective in the forest.

This journey captures the essence of the Basque Coast in a way that blends scenery, culture, and cuisine. Mundaka is legendary for being home to one of the longest left-hand breaks in the world, making it a pilgrimage site for wave-riders. Yet the experience doesn’t stop at natural beauty—the town of Bermeo adds a vibrant cultural layer.

The cave and forest add another dimension completely. Here, you'll see art 14,000 years old, as well as paintings on living tress. Before being taken back to Bilbao, you'll go to San Juan de Gaztelugatxe, an islet connected to the mainland by a man-made bridge, home to a 10th century hermitage. San Juan de Gaztelugatxe was made famous thanks to its use as a location for the Season 8 of Games of Thrones.

This region is legendary for its cuisine. M'Angel will take you to a hand-picked spot, either inland or by the coast, depending on the season, where you'll enjoy beautiful wines and regions dishes of the highest quality. 

You'll get to enjoy some choice regional wines and pintxos at a txakoli winery. Txakoli wine tends to be white and is known for its citrusy and herby palate.

This experience blends cinematic landscapes with the region’s distinctive wine culture. San Juan de Gaztelugatxe is one of the most breathtaking sights in northern Spain—a craggy island crowned with a hermitage that has stood for over a thousand years. Shibuya Crossing, or Shibuya Scramble Crossing, is a popular scramble crossing in Shibuya, Tokyo, Japan.[1] It is located in front of the Shibuya Station Hachikō exit and stops vehicles in all directions to allow pedestrians to inundate the entire intersection. The statue of Hachikō, between the station and the intersection, is a common meeting place and almost always crowded.

Three large TV screens mounted on nearby buildings overlook the crossing, as well as many advertising signs. The Starbucks store overlooking the crossing is also one of the busiest in the world. Its heavy traffic and inundation of advertising have led to it being compared to the Times Square intersection in New York City and Piccadilly Circus intersection in London.

The Great Barrier Reef is famous not only because it is the largest coral reef in the ocean, but also because it is the most beautiful one. For those who like snorkeling or diving, an unsurpassable underwater world opens up.

My highlight in Australia was definitely the day trip to the reef. From Cairns, we took the tourist boat out to sea. Since the water is relatively cold, you get a wetsuit and then have hours to discover the unique underwater world.

I saw sharks, turtles, huge colorful corals, man-sized fish, thousands of small schools of fish, a clam, rays, snails, and lots of underwater plants.

Remember that you are a trespasser in the underwater world, so be careful not to touch or destroy anything. Use organic sunscreen and always be respectful of your surroundings.

The world’s largest reef

The local Triestine dialect mixes with accents from across Italy, reflecting the city's diverse cultural fabric. The heart of Mercato Coperto is its community. The little bar in the corner, run by Paolo for over two decades, is a gathering spot for regulars who share stories, wine, and homemade snacks. This spot is emblematic of Italian social culture, where time slows down, and life is savored.
Mercato Coperto is located at Via Carducci 36 in Trieste. While some parts of the market are less bustling than before, it still remains a place worth visiting for its unique atmosphere and cultural richness. You’re encouraged to stroll through the colorful lanes, interact with local vendors, and soak in the lively, albeit sometimes quiet, spirit of the place.

Mercato Coperto in Trieste

Narrows hike in Zion is a fun and challenging hike that people of all ages can try out.  Just take the free shuttle bus from the Zion visitor center to the final stop (Temple of Sinawava) and hike the riverside trail until it ends.  Great views of Zion Canyon from within!

Alghero Old Town, located on the northwest coast of Sardinia, is a charming and historic seaside district brimming with Catalan influence. Known as “Barceloneta” or “Little Barcelona,” this medieval town enchants visitors with its cobblestone streets, colorful buildings, and stunning sea views. Surrounded by well-preserved fortifications and bastions, Alghero offers a blend of cultural heritage, Mediterranean charm, and culinary delights. 
1. The Catalan-Gothic architecture reflects the town’s rich history, particularly in landmarks like the Cathedral of Santa Maria and Palazzo Guillot.

Alghero Old Town

Jamaica

In the mist-covered Blue Mountains of Jamaica lies the enchanting Holywell Park, a hidden gem that whispers stories of nature's wonders. Amidst the lush greenery, we embarked on a long walk with a local guide, seeking tranquility. We wandered through the verdant trails, each turn unveiling a canvas of vibrant ferns, towering trees, and melodious bird songs that filled the air.

Holywell Recreational Park, situated about 3,000 feet above sea level and roughly an hour's drive from Kingston, is a haven for nature enthusiasts. The park, part of the Blue and John Crow Mountains, is a lush sanctuary that boasts several species of ferns among other flora like wild raspberries, cheeseberries, epiphytes, nasturtiums, impatients, and notable trees including the Blue Mahoe (Jamaica’s national tree), Caribbean Pine, and Milkwood. The park also supports various species of endemic birds. It offers a range of trails with varying difficulties, from easy to moderate, and can take anywhere from 20 to 90 minutes to complete, providing an immersive nature experience amidst the cooler mountain temperatures.

Buenos Aires, Argentina, is home to Teatro Colón, one of the most prestigious opera houses in the world and an architectural masterpiece. Opened in 1908, this magnificent theater is renowned for its breathtaking interiors, world-class acoustics, and historic performances by legends like Luciano Pavarotti, Maria Callas, and Plácido Domingo. Whether attending a live opera, ballet, or classical concert, or simply taking a guided tour, visiting Teatro Colón is an unmissable cultural experience.

On the epic Ring Road drive (A1) in East Iceland, there’s a black sand beach called Stokksnes, just a few kilometres from Höfn. 

A gravel road gets you to a tiny cafeteria - where you can pay a small fee to drive further in till the edge of the water. 

Volcanic black sand dunes, Tall green grasses. Waves breaking on the rocks. Wind. Reflections in the water. Incredible beauty. Pure zen.

Mirador de la Cornisa is situated between the Royal Palace and the Almudena Cathedral in Madrid. This newly reopened viewpoint offers sweeping views of the western part of Madrid, including the Campo del Moro and Casa de Campo. The Mirador, which remained closed from 2007 to 2021 due to construction work, now serves as an entry point to the Royal Collections Gallery, set to open in the summer of 2023. Top highlights:
1. Historical Gates and Fence: The viewpoint is accessed through a centenary fence, originally from the Regency of María Cristina, mother of Alfonso XIII. Placed in 1899, the fence was designed by palace architect Enrique Repullés Segarra. It has recently been restored and repositioned, allowing more space for visitors to enjoy the views.
2. Panoramic Views of Western Madrid: From Mirador de la Cornisa, enjoy expansive views of Madrid's western landscape. The viewpoint overlooks the Campo del Moro and extends to the large wooded area of Casa de Campo, with the silhouette of the mountains in the background. It’s a perfect spot for sunset viewing and capturing photographs.
3. Strategic Location: The Mirador's location between the Royal Palace and the Almudena Cathedral places it within what is known as Madrid's Cornisa, an elevated area offering excellent views, especially at sunset. It extends from Parque del Oeste to Parque de la Cornisa, including the famous Las Vistillas space.
4. Access to Royal Collections Gallery: The reopening of the Mirador coincides with the upcoming inauguration of the Royal Collections Gallery. This makes the Mirador not only a viewpoint but also a transitional space to one of Madrid's upcoming cultural attractions.
The Mirador de la Cornisa is open to the public every day from 10 am to 10 pm, free of charge. It’s a must-visit spot to enjoy some of the most beautiful landscapes in Madrid.

Once a symbol of imperial might, El Badi Palace in Marrakesh now stands as a striking ruin, echoing the glory of a bygone era. Commissioned in the late 16th century by Sultan Ahmad al-Mansur of the Saadian dynasty, this vast palace was designed to showcase Morocco’s newfound wealth and power after the triumphant Battle of the Three Kings. Though centuries of dismantling have stripped away its lavish finishes, the remaining structure still commands awe, offering a compelling glimpse into the grandeur of Saadian architecture and ambition.

1. At the heart of El Badi Palace is its historic foundation, built between 1578 and 1593 as a royal statement of wealth, inspired by Moorish and Andalusian design.

2. Within its ruined walls, the former splendor of El Badi Palace is hinted at through traces of opulence—once boasting over 350 rooms adorned with Italian marble, Sudanese gold, and intricate Moroccan tilework.

3. Visitors are drawn to the palace’s massive central courtyard, where a large reflecting pool and sunken orange gardens create a tranquil oasis amid the stone ruins.

4. From the upper terraces of El Badi Palace, panoramic views stretch across the Marrakesh medina, offering a stunning perspective of the city’s rooftops and Atlas Mountains in the distance.

5. Adding to the atmosphere of El Badi Palace are the resident storks, who nest on the palace walls and lend a serene, timeless feel to this open-air monument.

Tip: For softer light and fewer crowds, visit in the early morning or late afternoon.
