Andrea B., trained in Madrid, directed a gallery focused on contemporary painting and currently leads a national program supporting creative industries.

Andrea V., educated in Granada and with a master’s in Curatorial Studies, leads a consultancy that develops exhibition projects and advises on cultural strategies.

Together, they offer in-depth experiences grounded in their knowledge of the local arts scene and strong ties to artists, curators, and institutions. If they are unavailable, their colleagues Jaime or Mario—also experienced art historians—will host the experience. This will be confirmed well in advance.

Chile

This experience is a private tour of Galería Artkinson, one of Valparaíso's most intriguing independent galleries focused on urban art and contemporary expression. Named for its proximity to the beloved Paseo Artkinson walkway, the gallery is co-managed by a quintet of local artists each with their own specialty across painting, engraving, sculpture, and jewelry craft. Each artist has a different style which makes for one of the most eclectic experiences in Chile's Capital of Culture.

This private viewing experience is hosted by one of the five artists. It consists of an in-depth description of the original works showcased in the gallery and the studio, where you'll learn about the different materials, symbols, and ideas behind each piece. You will also learn how the work of the Galería Artkinson collective fits in with the wider identity of Valparaíso's urban art landscape. The experience includes one Pisco Sour or glass of Chilean wine during the art tour.

This is a rare opportunity to explore every nook and cranny of an independent gallery staffed by the very artists whose sculptures, paintings, prints, and jewelry hang on the walls. The gallery is co-managed by five local artists each working within their own medium. Through graffiti art, wood engraving, painting, and beyond, this gallery characterizes the sense of community and collaboration which lies at the heart of Valparaíso's modern art scene. As the tour is guided by one of the five artists, they can delve deeper into the themes addressed in the exhibition. This private viewing of Galeria Artkinson is hosted by one of the five resident artists who collaborate in the studio. Moro "Newenki" Pichilaf specializes in wood engraving, stencil art, and painting alongside mural art with fellow graffiti artists Don Peluca and Cuellimangui. Fernanda González works with plasticine installations whereas Klaus Tordo is a master at metal engraving and the botanical practice of Kokedama.

The host of the experience depends on the date booked. In most cases, you will meet at least one further resident artist during the visit besides the host artist.

It begins at Tabakalera, a former tobacco factory now transformed into a center for culture and creativity. Back at the atelier, you’ll explore the origins of photography and learn about wet plate collodion—a 19th-century technique that uses glass or metal plates, chemical baths, and a large format camera. Pierre will guide you step by step as you coat, sensitize, expose, and develop your own image.

Watching your portrait come to life is a striking visual moment: deep contrasts, delicate textures, and a vintage feel that’s hard to find elsewhere. While your image slowly appears, Pierre shares family stories and his personal view of Bordeaux and photography. You can also choose to shoot outdoors and include a glimpse of the city in your portrait.

The uniqueness of this experience lies in the physicality of the process and the one-of-a-kind result. Wet plate collodion photography doesn’t aim to imitate the past—it uses an early technique to craft images that are singular, dense, and deeply present. Pierre Wetzel is a Bordeaux-based photographer known for his dedication to wet plate collodion, a 19th-century photographic process that he has mastered over years of experimentation. He lives and works in the Saint-Michel district, where he runs his studio and regularly collaborates on community-based art projects that connect photography with local stories and social engagement.

This is a walking tour that explores how Barcelona city planning is shaping the future of urban living. Although Barcelona is renowned for its historical architecture, it is certainly not a museum. The transformation of Barcelona into a ‘smart city’ is best exemplified in the 22@/Poblenou neighborhood. This area features urban landscaping, bold new civic structures and museums, and cutting-edge projects from top local and international architects, together forming a futuristic cityscape. Here, global issues such as conservation, sustainability, and the transition to a digital economy are being actively addressed.

Shannon will share little-known stories about how she integrated into the local art scene and provide an overview of Chilean artistic traditions, from muralism to contemporary public art.

As an artistic director, Shannon collaborates with fellow muralists and actively champions the community aspect of street art. She will discuss her latest large-scale installation, created in partnership with the Santiago Metro and the United States Embassy. This is a chance to engage in an open conversation about life as a bilingual expat in Chile, the intersection of art and activism, and creative inspiration. 

Hot beverages and light refreshments are served. This is a lighter version of a meal called "once" (pronounced on-say) which is the Chilean equivalent of afternoon tea.

Originally from Minnesota, multimedia artist Shannon McEvoy studied in Viña del Mar in 2010. The country and its people left a lasting impression on her, and she quickly returned after graduation. Inspired by the street art of Valparaíso, she incorporated Chilean muralism into her undergraduate Honors Thesis and later became a muralist herself.

Shannon has lived in Chile for over 10 years, where she teaches English and creates murals—though her talents extend far beyond. She also paints, sketches, makes ceramics and jewelry, designs her own clothes, and experiments with photography. As an artistic director, she has overseen several monumental public art installations in Santiago and beyond.

Passionate about both art and language, Shannon sees them as powerful tools for self-expression and meaningful connection. Bilingual in English and Spanish, she also speaks basic Portuguese.

You’ll move along the water’s edge, experimenting with angles and reflections that capture both the waterways and the surrounding urban character. Emanuele, whose photographic background includes reportage and street portraiture, offers guidance that goes beyond the technical. Each evening, we wait for sunset to happen ... in fact the whole town stops whatever they are doing and gathers near the edges of the cliffs In Oia. 

It’s a ritual that we quickly make our own. We time our dinner, walks and activities so that we can get a prime seat to watch the performance. On the odd day that we miss it ... being on the wrong side of the caldera ... we feel we’ve missed a significant event in our day.

The setting sun can look rather different in a cloudless sky. Santorini rarely has a cloud. Maybe one every two days ... making the sunset even more glorious. Flaws build character.

The Bonneville Salt Flats are not to be missed! A slight detour off I-80 near the UT/NV is a moon-like alternate universe not to be missed. Go for a quick run through the salt flats or just stop for a quick photo op or picnic!

The structure, hidden over the centuries by surrounding buildings, was rediscovered in 1814 and fully unearthed in 1938 during a demolition. 
2 - This archaeological marvel provides invaluable insights into Roman architectural genius. You can see the sophisticated design and engineering techniques used in its construction, including the intricate system of underground passages where gladiators and animals were held before contests, showcasing Roman innovation and craftsmanship.
3 - Notable for its architecture that utilizes the natural slope of the hill, the amphitheater could accommodate between 3,500 to 6,000 spectators and was built primarily of masonry, with a wooden stage. Visiting Western Australia's Nambung National Park and the Pinnacles Desert is a must.

Located at the southern gateway to Australia's Coral Coast, along the Indian Ocean Drive, the Pinnacles Desert of Nambung National Park is one of the major natural attractions in the region and are Western Australia's most visited attractions.

The park is located roughly 200km, or 2 hours' drive north of Perth, and covers an area of 17,487 hectares providing natural habitat for an extensive array of native animals and bird life.

The Pinnacles are amazing natural limestone structures, formed approximately 25,000 to 30,000 years ago after the sea receded and left deposits of sea shells. Over time, coastal winds removed the surrounding sand, leaving the pillars exposed to the elements. The Pinnacles range in height and dimension - some stand as high as 3.5m!

This being a ‘chill trip’, we did not want to hike 10 hours on a glacier. Instead we trek on the Vatnajokull glacier looking for ice caves with wind on our face and ice under our feet.

Earlier, we woke up at 7 and drive in cold and windy January to Skaftafell National Park to meet Einar, our guide. 

This cave... like others ... started forming In August but you are never sure it will be stable to explore till later. In September, the loose ceiling collapsed  and this brilliant cave was formed.

These fragile and transitory structure require constant maintenance from falling rock and melting icicles. Einer enters the cave and spots a few boulders on the roof. He removes them to prevent harm to the cave and us. 

As we move around, the cave looks different as our viewing angle and the sunlight outside changes.

We are in complete awe ... and hungry. Luckily a steaming meal of lamb and potatoes is close by.

Ice Caving

Valencia, Spain, is home to Albufera Natural Park, a stunning wetland reserve just 10 km (6 miles) south of the city. Visitor Tip: Visit in the late afternoon for a boat ride at sunset, then head to El Palmar for a traditional paella dinner. Renting a bike is also a great way to explore the park at your own pace.

Albufera Natural Park

Mexico City, Mexico, is home to the Biblioteca Vasconcelos, an architectural masterpiece and one of the most spectacular modern libraries in the world. Biblioteca Vasconcelos

Faro Old Town, nestled in the capital of Portugal's Algarve region, stands as a testament to a rich and varied history. This enchanting historic area, characterized by cobbled streets and a remarkable medieval cathedral, offers visitors a unique glimpse into the past. Here are the top highlights:
