What is this?

Your adventure starts in Gordes. Visiting early allows you to walk its narrow streets and take in the pale stone houses that rise in tiers above the valley before the village fills with visitors. You then stop at the nearby Abbey of Notre Dame de Sénanque, where the gardens and lavender fields frame one of the most recognizable scenes in Provence. You continue to Roussillon, known for its ochre cliffs that have shaped the identity of the Luberon. Lunch in a village restaurant is a way to explore the region through its cuisine, before walking through the village and up to views across the Luberon mountains. You then pass through Goult, a quieter hilltop village with a more local and understated feel, before stopping at an ancient Roman bridge and continuing on to Bonnieux. Finally, you reach Lourmarin. Once a rural town, it is now known for its galleries, cafés and boutiques. There, you visit the Château de Lourmarin, the first Renaissance castle built in Provence in the 15th century.

What makes this unique?

Spending a day moving through Gordes, Roussillon, Goult, Bonnieux, and Lourmarin reveals how varied the Luberon can be within a short distance. Each village expresses a different identity, from stone-built hilltop settings to the mineral landscapes of Roussillon. Goult and Pont Julien add further contrast, introducing quieter stops and traces of the region’s older infrastructure that are often missed. Christopher and Laurent guide you through these places with a clear sense of how they relate to one another. Rather than approaching each stop in isolation, they highlight differences in layout, materials, and setting, helping you understand how geography and history shape each village. Lunch based around regional dishes is part of this rhythm, fully integrated within the day rather than a separate highlight. It reflects the pace of local life, allowing you to pause between villages before continuing your journey across the Luberon.

Christopher is originally from England and Laurent is French. Both spent many years in London before relocating to Marseille in 2013, traveling widely during that time and developing a deep curiosity about place and culture.
