Take the 9:15am train from Madrid Atocha to Toledo station, where Adolfo will meet you. It takes 35 minutes and costs €14. You can pre-buy the train tickets from Renfe.com, or give yourself plenty of time to buy a ticket at Atocha.

If coming by car, Adolfo will waiting for you at Bisagra Gate at the starting time. By car it takes around one hour to get to Toledo from Madrid.

Once in Imlil, you can pause to rest or meet your driver for the return to Marrakesh (organize the return trip with your Marrakesh home, it's not included in this experience). 

This closing stretch offers a soft, thoughtful end to your journey. The morning light, a simple and tasty Berber breakfast, and the familiar rhythm of the trail give you time to reflect. After the summit climb in the early morning, you’ll make a gradual descent down to the village of Aremd. You’ll arrive by the afternoon—early enough to rest, recover, and take in the views of the mountain you just climbed. You’ll stay the night in a simple and rustic but comfortable Berber guesthouse, with a private room/double/family room with a member of your party (based on your preference), each with its own ensuite bathroom. These are simple and modest, comfortable and safe lodgings. 

This final night gives you space to absorb the full experience. From the guesthouse terrace, you’ll see Toubkal from below—quiet and distant now. You’ll have a chance to walk through the village, meet local residents, and maybe visit the village hammam. Dinner is a warm, home-cooked meal—flavorful, generous, and made from local ingredients. The pace is slower, the conversation flows, and your connection to this landscape deepens in a quieter, more personal way.

Descent & Berber Village Stay

After a full day of ascent, you’ll reach the Toubkal Refuge—your base at 3,200 meters before summit day. You’ll break for a picnic lunch en route or stop for a warm meal in a Berber home, then continue to the refuge. Here, you’ll settle into a private/double room, depending on the group's needs (please share this with Ahmed after booking), and enjoy a proper dinner to refuel and acclimatize for the climb ahead.

Most trekkers sleep in dorm-style bunk rooms with shared bathrooms at the Toubkal Refuge, often alongside 10–20 others—conditions that don’t support privacy, comfort, or restful sleep. In contrast, this experience includes a private / double room shared only within your group, based on your preference, each with an ensuite bathroom. It’s a quieter, more restorative way to spend the night at altitude. Keep in mind, however, that these are simple and modest rooms. In rare situations when all private rooms are booked out, Ahmed will arrange private/double tents for your party -- these are comfortable, safe and provide a peaceful night's sleep (in this case, the bathrooms at the refuge will be used.)

Meals are freshly prepared and more generous than the standard dorm fare, with a focus on nourishment and recovery. 

This high-altitude pause isn’t just practical—it allows your body to adjust, improves your summit chances, and offers rare stillness under the stars of the High Atlas.

This experience is designed for 2 to 6 participants to ensure a personal and well-supported trek. It includes a licensed, experienced mountain guide, mule team to carry luggage during the ascent, and all meals as outlined in the itinerary. Accommodation is provided for two nights: one at the Toubkal Refuge in a private/shared room (or equal value private/double tent) and one in a traditional Berber village in a private/shared room. 

Dress for mountain conditions: sturdy boots, waterproof jacket, warm layers, gloves, sun hat/cream, fleece/anorak for winter. Refillable water bottle and day pack for essentials. Toilet Paper.

If you need a trekking pole, let Ahmed know in advance. Also inform him of any medical conditions or physical limitations.

Be prepared for altitude, and respect Berber customs in the villages you pass. 

Travelers should arrange their own travel insurance for peace of mind in case of illness or accident.

We will meet at a pre-determined point in the Imlil area (The meeting point in Imlil will be confirmed by Ahmed via Chat after the booking). Pickups will be included only from nearby Imlil hotels. The excursion begins in Imlil, about 1.5 hours by car from Marrakesh. If you’re staying in Marrakesh, Ourika, or similar, please arrange round-trip transportation with your hotel.

An experienced guide, well-versed in the region’s geography and the cultural nuances of the Berber communities. The guide offers not only navigational expertise but also insights into the local traditions and natural history of the area. They will ensure that you feel safe, welcomed, and well-informed.

Weather Safety Precaution: If the weather turns bad, Ahmed and his team may adjust the trek route to prioritize safety. Trek cancellations are rare and only occur in severe weather conditions, and only after all alternative routes for a similar experience have been evaluated. Your safety is always the top priority.

Located about 30 km (19 miles) from San Pedro de Atacama, these natural thermal baths are rich in minerals and maintain a soothing temperature between 28–33°C (82–91°F). With wooden walkways connecting the pools and breathtaking canyon views, Puritama provides a relaxing and rejuvenating experience in the heart of the desert.

Puritama Hot Springs

Chile’s Laguna Cejar, located in the heart of the Atacama Desert, is a stunning saltwater lagoon where visitors can experience the unique sensation of floating effortlessly due to its high salt concentration, similar to the Dead Sea. Situated about 20 km (12 miles) from San Pedro de Atacama, this turquoise lagoon, surrounded by a stark white salt crust and the majestic Andes Mountains, offers an unforgettable natural experience and breathtaking photography opportunities.

1. Float effortlessly in the lagoon’s mineral-rich waters, known for their extreme buoyancy due to a salt concentration of over 40%.

2. Stunning color contrasts between the deep blue water, the white salt deposits, and the golden desert create a perfect setting for photography.

3. Views of the Licancabur Volcano and the Andes, especially during sunset, make this an unforgettable desert landscape.

Laguna Cejar

Initially a medieval fortress, it now boasts the Renaissance grandeur of the Salone dei Cinquecento. A living testament to the city's political, artistic, and architectural evolution. Top reasons to visit:
1- The construction of Palazzo Vecchio, attributed to Arnolfo di Cambio, began in 1299. Built over the ruins of the Uberti Ghibelline towers and atop a Roman theater, the palace exemplifies the triumph of the Guelph faction. It has served as the seat of the city council, composed of the Guilds of Florence, and even housed Duke Walter VI of Brienne. The architectural design, initially severe and medieval, concealed sumptuous halls and residential apartments​​.
2 - Created during the Republic of Fra' Girolamo Savonarola in 1494, the Salone dei Cinquecento is the most significant room in Palazzo Vecchio. Originally basic and almost devoid of decoration, it was later chosen by Piero Soderini for grand murals by Leonardo da Vinci and Michelangelo Buonarroti, depicting the Republic's victories. Although these works were never completed, their initiation marked a high point in Renaissance art. When the Medici returned to power in 1540, they transformed the Salone into a symbol of ducal authority. Giorgio Vasari was tasked with its renovation, elevating the ceiling and adding a coffered structure with forty-two panels. The room's decor glorified the Medici family, replacing the original allegory of Florence with a depiction of Duke Cosimo himself​​​​​​.
Palazzo Vecchio, located at Piazza della Signoria, Florence, is open to the public as a museum. It offers various guided tours, some specifically tailored for families with children. The mezzanine level houses the Loeser Collection, and the second floor features private apartments and chambers, including the original Hall of Priors and the Hall of Maps. Cagliari’s Historic Center, the heart of Sardinia’s capital, is a vibrant blend of history, culture, and stunning views. Known as Castello, this hilltop district dates back to medieval times and is home to centuries-old architecture, narrow cobblestone streets, and panoramic vistas of the Gulf of Cagliari. Packed with historic landmarks, lively squares, and charming cafes, the historic center offers a glimpse into Sardinia’s rich past while remaining a bustling part of the modern city. 
1. The Bastione di Saint Remy, with its grand staircase and terrace, offers breathtaking views of the city, the port, and the surrounding area, especially magical at sunset. 
2. The Cagliari Cathedral, a stunning Romanesque-Gothic structure, is a must-see for its ornate interior and crypts, housing relics of Sardinian martyrs. 
3. The Torre dell’Elefante and Torre di San Pancrazio, medieval towers that once defended the city, provide incredible views and insight into Cagliari’s fortifications. 
4. Wander through the Piazza Palazzo, where historic buildings like the Archbishop’s Palace and the Royal Palace reflect the city’s political and religious history. 
5. The district’s narrow streets and alleys, lined with colorful houses, artisan shops, and traditional trattorias, make exploring on foot a delight.

Portugal’s Fluviário de Mora, located in the heart of the Alentejo region, is a unique freshwater aquarium dedicated to the rivers and aquatic ecosystems of Portugal and beyond. Opened in 2007, it offers an educational and immersive experience, showcasing native and exotic freshwater species while raising awareness about the importance of freshwater conservation. With its interactive exhibits, family-friendly atmosphere, and focus on environmental sustainability, it’s a great stop for nature lovers and curious minds alike.


1. Diverse freshwater species, including native Iberian fish like sturgeon, barbel, and lamprey, as well as exotic species from the Amazon and African rivers.

2. Otter habitat, where visitors can observe playful Eurasian otters in a naturalistic setting, learning about their behavior and conservation efforts.

Fluviário de Mora

Jamaica

1942: Errol Flynn popularised rafting down the river Rio Grande in Jamaica on bamboo rafts, made of long logs bound together. Fast forward: I'm on a raft for a 3-hour ride and sensory overload: ferns, birds, rapids, butterflies, serenading raft captain. But here’s my favorite part —

After an hour on the river, we dock at Belinda’s Riverside Restaurant, a rustic gem nestled by the Rio Grande. How does this place even exist in the middle of nowhere? Turns out Belinda and team hike a couple of hours across the hills, ingredients in tow, to set up shop each time, serving up Jamaican-style curry goat and fish (take your pick: fried, steamed, or escoveitched). Prepared with love and served alongside rice or bammy. One of my best meals in Jamaica. Call ahead to make sure Belinda’s is open on the day you visit.

Stepping into Piazza San Marco, with the majestic Basilica at its eastern end, is unforgettable. Napoleon described it as 'the finest drawing room in Europe'. 5 top reasons to visit:
 
1: Historical Evolution: In the Piazza, imagine, Venice in the 9th century, as St. Mark's Square was first established. It wasn't until the 12th century that it expanded to its current size under Doge Sebastiano Ziani. Around you, the Byzantine Saint Mark’s Basilica stands as a testament to Venice's rich history, originally founded in 828 AD to house the relics of Saint Mark, brought from Alexandria.

2: Architectural Marvel of the Basilica: Be awe-struck by the basilica's ornate façades and the intricate mosaics that adorn its domes, the grandeur of which reflects Venice's interaction with Byzantium and the East. The basilica is a harmonious blend of Middle-Byzantine, Romanesque, and Gothic styles, with Islamic influences evident in its artful display of polychrome marble columns and intricate designs.

3: Artistic Treasures Within: As you enter the basilica, you’ll be greeted by the shimmering gold-ground mosaics depicting saints, prophets, and biblical scenes. These mosaics, which represent eight centuries of artistic styles, include works based on drawings by Renaissance artists like Titian and Tintoretto, showcasing the basilica's role as a repository of Venetian art and history.

4: Treasury and Tomb of Saint Mark: The Treasury houses a collection of precious objects, including pieces looted from Constantinople, while the marble inlays on the floor, with designs of peacocks and roosters, add to the basilica's splendor. And there, in the crypt, lies the body of St. Mark.

5: The Campanile and Clocktower: As you explore the square, don't miss the Campanile, the towering bell tower, and the St. Mark's Clocktower. The queue to climb up is usually long, but offers a magnificent view.

Visiting St. Mark's Basilica and Square is unmissable when in Venice.

Piazza San Marco and Basilica

Antalya, Turkey, is home to the Antalya Museum, one of the country’s most important archaeological museums, showcasing thousands of years of history from ancient civilizations that once thrived in the region. Covering spanning prehistoric, Roman, Byzantine, and Ottoman eras, the museum is a treasure trove of artifacts, statues, and mosaics, many of which were discovered in nearby sites like Perge, Aspendos, and Termessos. With its well-curated exhibits and stunning sculptures, the Antalya Museum is a must-visit for history lovers.


1. The Hall of Gods displays an incredible collection of Roman statues of deities such as Zeus, Hermes, and Aphrodite, many unearthed from the ancient city of Perge.

2. The Sarcophagi Hall features intricately carved Roman sarcophagi, including the famous Sarcophagus of Hercules, depicting the hero’s legendary labors.

3. A vast collection of mosaics, coins, and ceramics offers insight into the daily life and artistry of civilizations that once ruled the Mediterranean.

4. The Children’s Section makes history engaging for younger visitors with interactive exhibits and miniature models of ancient cities.

5. The Ethnography Section highlights Ottoman-era artifacts, including traditional costumes, weaponry, and nomadic Yörük rugs, giving visitors a glimpse into Turkey’s cultural heritage.
