He has worked as an independent curator since 2013—collaborating with a myriad of museums and holding a post at the Getty Research Institute’s Exhibitions department. He is currently the Chief Curator at the Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Buenos Aires (Museum of Contemporary Art of Buenos Aires/MACBA).

Additionally, Jonathan is a licensed tour guide with extensive experience leading private and originally curated experiences within the field of arts and heritage. This was my first time visiting Gigantes Islands, and I was struck by the raw beauty of its cliffs and crystal-clear waters that surround its secluded beaches. There are several islands that you can hop in to and my favorite one is what the locals call the “mini boracay” because the sand sure feels like that in Boracay. Other islands are as equally awesome like the Bantigue sandbar, and Cabugay. We also explored the local neighborhood and sure has its own interesting stories. For one, I discovered that due to the abundance of scallops in the island, there’s a neighborhood that stands on a land area that’s made up of scallop shells that is meters thick! Just imagine how much scallops shells that would’ve taken. There’s a lot to explore but if you just want something that’s relaxed, you can just have a good beer by the beach from sunset til night.

Having a background in biology, coming to the Galapagos was absolutely a bucket list trip. The trip is worth going if you have three to seven days, depending on how much you want to see. I was there for three days and I could have discovered more islands. 

It is important to have a tour guide as you are not allowed to venture outside the town without one. 

Definitely worth a visit!

3 - The Baptistery of San Giovanni: Older than the cathedral itself, the Baptistery is renowned for its three sets of bronze doors, including the Gates of Paradise by Lorenzo Ghiberti. Inside, the golden mosaic ceiling captivates visitors, while the tomb of Antipope John XXIII adds historical intrigue.
4 - Santa Reparata: Beneath the cathedral lies Santa Reparata, the original church on this site. Excavations have revealed Roman houses and the former cathedral's remains, offering a journey through layers of history.
5 - Opera del Duomo Museum: This museum houses original Renaissance masterpieces from the Baptistery, Bell Tower, and the cathedral itself. It was here that Michelangelo carved the statue of David, and the museum's terrace offers stunning views of the cathedral.
