Philippe Mevel is a Paris-based antiques specialist and art dealer who leads private visits through the Saint-Ouen flea markets, antique boutiques, and art galleries. He trained in Switzerland and France before moving to the United States in 1999.

From 2000 to 2006 he worked with Gasiunasen Fine Arts in Palm Beach, collaborating with prominent collectors. Since 2007 he has worked independently as an art advisor and dealer, with acquisitions that have included works by Picasso and Chagall.

Philippe’s core expertise is seventeenth- and eighteenth-century French furniture, complemented by broad knowledge of modern and contemporary art and design. His clients range from corporate teams and museums to architects, interior designers, dealers, and first-time buyers.

Unleash your inner artist (and architect) on a 3-hour sketching experience in Chile's capital of culture. Led by Jaime Núñez, a Chilean architect and urban planner born and raised in Valparaíso, you’ll explore Cerro Concepción and Cerro Alegre on foot, armed with a sketchbook and pencil. 

Jaime will teach you how to read a building, understand its symbolism, and appreciate how public and private spaces coexist in a city. Along the way, he’ll share curious tales and trivia about this UNESCO World Heritage Site. You'll also gain insight into how Valparaíso's unique topography has influenced its architecture and urban design, shaping the city's identity over centuries.

In 1953, Shoghi Effendi, guardian of the Bahá'í Faith, envisioned a temple to unite a continent. By 2016, this dream crystallized into the Mother Temple of South America—and today this is the first stop on your one-day odyssey of Santiago de Chile.

The Bahá'í Temple of Santiago is a structure of nine luminous “petals” each arching skyward like a prayer. Thirty meters high, its glass-clad sails filter daylight into a sanctuary for 600 souls, symbolizing the Bahá'í tenet of oneness. 

As Julio will expand on, the temple’s floral form is no accident: it mirrors nature’s perfection, a deliberate echo of divine harmony. Arriving at Los Dominicos Artisan's Village is akin to walking into a living archive of Chilean tradition. Nestled beside the 18th-century San Vicente Ferrer Church in Santiago's Los Condes district, this enclave of 200 workshops hums with the legacy of Mapuche metalsmiths, colonial leather workers, and mestizo weavers. 

Julio will weave you around the artisan village and introduce you to craftspeople who will share their work and stories. As this is an opportune moment to pick up souvenirs, it is advisable to carry cash (Chilean pesos). 

Trace your fingers over copper cookware forged in ancestral fires, inhale the earthy musk of medicinal herbs, and savor empanadas—a culinary relic of Spain’s Moorish past reborn in the New World.

Los Dominicos Artisan Village

Huelén, the Mapuche called it; "here is the place." 

In 1540, the Spanish conquistador Pedro de Valdivia raised his cross upon this volcanic outcrop, thus founding Santiago as a bastion of empire. Today, Santa Lucía Hill's serpentine paths lead past moss-crowned cannons and neoclassical follies with each step a dialogue between Indigenous resilience and colonial ambition. 

After a short climb, you'll pause at the summit and observe how the city sprawls below like a map of its own layered history.  

Santa Lucía Hill (Cerro Santa Lucía) is one of Santiago's most treasured natural landmarks. Paths weave through lush greenery that provide relief to the lungs of Santiaguinos and Santiaguinas before culminating with one of the finest views in the city.

Sheltered by trees and cooled by the cascading Fountain of Neptune, Julio will expose the origins of Santiago through a blend of facts, mythology, and personal commentaries. Santa Lucía Hill

Lunch unfolds in Bellavista, Santiago’s most bohemian barrio, where cobblestone streets and kaleidoscopic murals pulse with artistic energy. This eclectic neighborhood thrums with craft breweries, artisan markets, and the legacy of such creatives as Pablo Neruda whose whimsical home, La Chascona, nestles nearby. 

Julio will take you to Galindo, a beloved local institution where the walls buzz with decades of stories and the aroma of Chilean comfort food fills the air. Refresh with a tangy Pisco Sour and savor Pastel de Choclo—a caramelized corn pie steeped in Andean tradition. Morocco

This is a moderately challenging private trek to the revered Muslim shrine of Sidi Chamarouch, starting from Imlil. This trek takes you through the traditional village of Aremd and ascends to 2350m (7710ft) at Sidi Chamarouch, positioned by a picturesque waterfall. 

While the shrine itself is not accessible to non-Muslims, the area around it offers a peaceful reflective spot for a picnic and stunning views across the Atlas Mountains and up towards the summit of Toubkal. Overall, the Sidi Chamarouch trek offers a profound glimpse into the Amazigh (Berber) spirituality, providing visitors with a deeper understanding of the region’s cultural tapestry.  

On this trek, you'll follow the same scenic route both to and from Sidi Chamarouch as it's part of the trail leading to the Toubkal Summit. This Experience is of medium difficulty and may, therefore, be unsuitable for young children. We strongly recommend hiring a mule that children can ride if tired. See “What to Bring” for details.

This trek offers a serene yet adventurous journey to the Sidi Chamarouch shrine, a site of deep spiritual and cultural significance in the High Atlas Mountains. Known as the King of Jinns, this pre-Islamic marabout shrine is revered in local legend and spirituality, located near Imlil under the gaze of Mount Toubkal. 

The path features diverse landscapes—from lush terraced fields to traditional Berber villages—providing hikers of all levels a culturally rich experience. As you traverse this scenic route, enjoy panoramic views and engage closely with the local Berber culture, observing their daily lives and traditions.

This full-day journey takes you inland through Andalusia to Ronda and Setenil de las Bodegas, two towns whose form and history have been shaped by the rock they inhabit. Both belong to the region’s pueblos blancos (“white towns”), but each responds to its terrain in a markedly different way.

In Ronda, you explore a city built around the deep cut of the El Tajo gorge. Walking its bridges, streets, and viewpoints, you see how Roman, Islamic, and Christian periods each worked with — and against — the natural defenses of the landscape. The city’s layout, crossings, and thresholds reflect centuries of strategic adaptation.

The route continues to Setenil de las Bodegas, where homes are constructed directly beneath massive rock overhangs. Here, architecture becomes an extension of geology: walls, roofs, and streets are shaped by the rock’s character to provide shade, climate control, and shelter.

Bertie, an English Sommelier, and Aby, an Argentine chef, are a Buenos Aires-based couple dedicated to sharing food, wine, and excellent company. Aby has been cooking traditional Argentine food since she was a child — helping at family gatherings — and Bertie has worked as a professional sommelier since 2008. 

The couple met by chance in Rio de Janeiro in 2014. What began as conversations about flavors and cultures soon grew into a partnership rooted in curiosity and hospitality. This 14-day journey across Morocco begins in Fes and flows through the Middle Atlas Mountains, into Berber villages, along the Atlantic coast, and into the heart of Marrakesh. DAYS 1-3 FES – STORIES, SPIRIT & EXPRESSION | Begin your journey in Fes, a city of spiritual depth and living tradition. Ease in with a reflective evening of Sufi music and dinner during In the Company of Sufis. DAY 4 MIDDLE ATLAS TRANSFER | Today is a full day of travel into the mountains. Journey from Fes to Imlil with stops in Ifrane or Azrou. Expect a shift in pace and scenery, with cedar forests, high passes, and winding roads leading you deep into the Atlas. Settle into your stay in the valley.

DAYS 5-7 ATLAS MOUNTAINS – COOKING, TREKKING & VILLAGE LIFE | On Day 5, head to Ouirgane for What’s Cooking in the Atlas, a hands-on culinary experience with Chef Amanda, surrounded by garden air and spice. The next day, trek with a local guide through Imlil’s surrounding trails, past Berber villages and almond trees during The Quintessential High Atlas. Day 7 offers three options: a gentle village walk along The Mule Tracks of Aremd, a nature-focused hike on The Salt Route of Marigha, or a full-day climb to Toubkal Refuge for mountain lovers.

DAY 8 TRANSFER TO ESSAOUIRA – FROM PEAKS TO SEA | Drive from the Atlas Mountains to the Atlantic coast—olive groves, argan trees, and plains stretch toward the medina of Essaouira. Arrive with time to unwind.

DAYS 9-10 IN ESSAOUIRA – PHOTOGRAPHY, MUSIC & CRAFT | Start with Mirroring Essaouira’s Soul, a photo walk led by a local photographer that captures street life in black and white. In the evening, immerse yourself in An Evening of Gnawa Music—a cultural dinner performance full of rhythm and spirit. The next day, explore the creative soul of the city through Jewelry Makers of Essaouira, visiting master artisans and learning their techniques in intimate studios.

DAY 11 TRANSFER TO MARRAKESH – RETURN TO RHYTHM | A 3-hour journey brings you to Marrakesh. Arrive in time for Tasting Morocco at Amal Center, where social impact meets culinary delight.

DAYS 12-14 IN MARRAKESH – CRAFT, ART & ROOFTOPS | Begin with A Thousand and One Crafts, a private walking tour through the artisan corners of the medina. A Passage Through Morocco

A Morocco 2 week itinerary from Fes to Marrakesh with culture, coast, and Atlas Mountains.

This city known for its wine is just gorgeous. Though hot in summer, it is stunning! Definitely worth a visit and if you have time the surroundings small town also known for their wine. 

In Bordeaux, be sure to walk down rue sainte Catherine, the longest pedestrian street in Europe! There will be plenty of shopping to do, and the main square with the cathedral is also a must see. The bell tower is not attached to the church and is able to be climbed for gorgeous views.

Patagonia – the land where the earth ends – must be one of the most unique places to visit in this world. I definitely felt this way, when I visited the glaciers, mountains, and rivers around. It’s a stunning place, and even though it’s quite hard to get there, the whole trip is completely worthwhile.

Patagonian hares, hawks, red foxes, geese, black-necked swans, flamingos, woodpeckers, skunks, pumas, condors, and the near extinct huemul deer – this place is for nature lovers. We’ve spent 1 month in Patagonia, exploring the fauna and flora, zipping warm chocolate next to the chimney of our bed and breakfast, and breathing the fresh air.

Save packing lightly for another trip – visiting the snowy landscape in Southern Argentina, you want to come as prepared as possible. Scarves, gloves, a winter jacket, boots, and lots of exchange clothes are a must.

All my life, I called it |trom-sow|, but the locals insist on |troom-sa|. 

The drive through Andøya and Senja was so spectacular that we wanted to abandon our itinerary and stay on the islands overnight vs. driving into Tromsø. And then I would have missed a dramatic sunset/dawn. Everything - sky, sea, windows on buildings, Arctic Church, mountain tops - blazed fiery red for an hour before turning into several shades of blue, with bright pink thrown in for effect. It stayed like that all night long. 

The locals can’t seem to stop partying through Friday night all along Storgata, so the people-watching is riveting. We’ve got to sleep at some point, we kept telling each other.

Plaça Espanya is one of Barcelona’s most iconic squares, serving as a gateway to Montjuïc and many of the city’s cultural landmarks. With its grand fountains, historical architecture, and lively atmosphere, it’s both a transportation hub and a tourist attraction in its own right.
1. The Magic Fountain of Montjuïc hosts stunning light and music shows in the evenings.
2. The former bullring, Arenas de Barcelona, has been converted into a shopping center with panoramic rooftop views.
3. The square is surrounded by impressive architecture, including the Venetian Towers.
4. It’s the starting point for exploring Montjuïc’s attractions, such as the National Art Museum of Catalonia.
5. The nearby Parc de Joan Miró offers a quieter space to relax with views of the square.

Eclairs, ratatouille, fromage – mhmm, so yummy – paired with a glass of wine and pleasant company, a French cooking class is a trip for all the senses (and fun, too). We opted for a private cooking class in Paris with Léo, a chef who has cooked in several top restaurants throughout his life. 

The first dish we learned how to cook was a French cheese plate and handmade bread accompanied by filled vine leaves. After that, we learned about French cuisine, the main ingredients, preparation methods, history, and drank some more wine. We learned what ingredients make the French kitchen unique (wine, vinegar, and cheese) and made a delicious ratatouille, one of France's most popular vegetable dishes. 

We read you can also do these courses online, but you have to get the ingredients and tools beforehand. A good option for digital visitors!
